Kevin Durant Scores 63 Points in Seattle Pro-Am (VIDEO)

KD puts on a show in The Emerald City.

As promised, Kevin Durant returned to Seattle this weekend, and the OKC Thunder superstar put on a show. KD missed the potential game-winning bucket, but he finished with 63 points (on a ridiculous 62 shot attempts), and sent home the basketball-starved fans of Seattle happy. Per the Seattle Times and AP: “The crowd overflowed out of Royal Brougham Pavilion and snaked around the corner onto Nickerson Street. When Durant walked through a side door, the place went bonkers. And when he stepped on the court, the crowd of 3,000 greeted him with a standing ovation that lasted several minutes. ‘I’ve never seen anything like that,’ said former Washington standout guard Will Conroy, who teamed with Durant during the game. ‘Only Kevin Durant could do something like this in Seattle. Seriously. People wouldn’t come out like this and show this type of love for LeBron or Kobe. Not here. This just shows what he meant and what he still means to this city.’ [...] ‘I’ve had a fun time here in Seattle,’ Durant told the crowd while holding the microphone at midcourt. ‘I miss you guys. Thank you for the warm welcome, man. I can’t wait to come back. Thank you. I appreciate it.’ After the game, he sat in the back seat of a Cadillac Escalade parked outside the arena, posing for pictures and signing autographs from hundreds of fans — mostly kids — who surrounded his car. [...] The league organized by (Jamal) Crawford has seen its share of special guest appearances in the past and there are even rumors of a Blake Griffin appearance in the coming weeks. But nothing might top Durant, considering the circumstances of how he left and how Seattle remains important to him. Durant has been seen before in hats representing Seattle, including a retro SuperSonics hat during this year’s NBA playoffs. Durant reached out to Crawford to try and figure out a way to make an appearance. A summer of waiting finally came to fruition Sunday as 3,000 fans packed a small-college gym to see Durant, Crawford and other NBA players put on a show. ‘He reached out to me to come perform before in front of you guys,’ Crawford told the crowd at Seattle Pacific University. ‘He loves Seattle. He took his own jet. He spent a lot of money to come up here and perform in front of you guys.’”

    He missed another game winner?
And how does he only get 63 when he took 62 shots?

I’m pretty sure I could get 60 on 60 shots… Sidenote: Jamal Crawford’s handle is CRAAAAAAAAAZY!

  • def80s

    Beat me to it, Ridiculous!

  • Dfrance

    He missed… A LOT! lol

  • Dfrance

NBA star or not, I’d be pissed if I was a regular on the team and someone came in and took 60 d@mn shots one game.

And being isolated on the wing guarding Crawford gotta be one of the scariest things to experience on a bball court. lol

  • def80s

Sounds like a stat line from Brandon Jennings

  • Dfrance

He’s gonna be crossing people up well into his 50s. lol

if this was a 40 minute game, then just think about that. 62 shots!!!! so one and a half shot on avg every minute. must have been fun to be on his team.

    Paragraphs say hi

Crawford would be my choice of defensive assignment I would hate and maybe even refuse to take with my girlfriend watching in the stands.

I can see already imagine the conversation with my gf:

Gf: Why did you fall down while guarding that guy?

Me: See what happened was…I thought he was going left but then he put the ball through my legs and then around my back.

Gf: But that doesn’t explain why you fell down…

Me: Well I tried to stop him from putting the ball between my legs by jumping at it and then he put the ball around my back really quickly so then I tried to stop that move by doing the splits but I fell down in the process.

Gf: Is that why the crowd was laughing at you?

Me: See, this is why I cheat on you!

    Hi

  • Kadavour

Jamal Crawford is a scary cover man…there’s no staying in front of him

These handles remind me alot of Crawford’s.
    They’re kinda like mini Crawford’s.

I gotta watch this at home with the sound, but it looks interesting.

  • Dfrance

I fell once, with my GF in the stands. Took a while to show my face in public with her again. lol

  • spit hot fiyah

i just read that he went 8-32 from 3!

  • Da-Meat-Hook

I can’t think of too many things on the court that are more emasculating than falling down while trying to aggressively play D.

AI making Antonio Daniels fall twice and Crawford dropping Ray Ray are two plays that immediately come to mind.

  • Dfrance

The thing is, I didn’t even get hit with a move. He was running up and stopped, I slipped trying to stop and fell. he ran past me and the crowd went nuts. lol.

First and last time I hooped in foamposites.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

That doesn’t seem too bad. The crowd must’ve just been looking for a reason to yell.

I got hit with a nasty one. Kid put the ball through my legs then pulled it right back so quickly that I was still reacting to the initial move. My knees went limp and I fell HARD (and I think I screamed a little).

The worst part was my teammates on the bench were laughing harder than the crowd.

  • Dfrance

Sheesh. I would feel bad after a while. lol

  • Arek

For the record all his teammates were force feeding him and kept going out of their way to get him the ball, all his teammates knew the crowd was there to watch KD and they gave the crowd what they wanted. He didn’t just force up 62 shots

First 2 points of this game was Martell Webster getting a put back dunk over Durant. Webster, Crawford & Tre Simmons shot the lights out from downtown… KD had a horrible shooting day but Seattle loved having him back again.
