LeBron sort of looks like 2k13 LeBron rather than the version we saw a few months back. I’ll never understand why they give him the black sleeve with the home jersey instead of the white. Still looks dope and I will be pre-ordering.

  • Conor

The graphics are no different from 2K13, it seems. The animations are much more diverse, though.

Oh well, waiting a year for Xbox One to rescind its ridiculous opening price (/requisite system issues) so I don’t feel worse buying 2K15 & Halo. NBA Street Volume II/III until then!

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Yea the graphics look exactly the same. I going to do the same thing and wait a year until the Xbox One and PS4 prices are down. I’ve found that now that I’m older it makes no sense to be one of the first ones to purchase these systems.

  • Dfrance

I’m not a video game person, but I’m looking to get one of the two for my son. He’ll be 10, does it really matter at his age?

  • spit hot fiyah

i’m not in to video games and basically only see these trailers. when it comes to sports games it seems like the graphics haven’t changes much at all over the last ~4 years. is that correct?

  • kc

i think the other preview version was for next gen consoles. I will be renting first. 2k has been a bit disappointing the past few years.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Ahh that would make sense. Now that you mention that I might just wait to buy 2k15 for the PS4.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

It all depends on the kid. Growing up I use to get all the latest things as soon as they came out but as I got older and started paying myself I realized that was a dumbass thing to do lol but as a parent it’s really up to you I suppose.

  • LakeShow

    Correct.

Same console = limited graphic advancement

  • LakeShow

No Lakers for the whole video… until the very end, with a game winning shot, KB…

    Well done 2k.

  • Dfrance

I really just meant which console do you think is better, lol. I’m definitely waiting for a price drop and those early kinks to be worked out.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

playstation is more cost effective. games wise, both consoles have plenty of stuff that will keep him happy — unless there is something specific he likes.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

2k14 is a release day game for PS4 (& Xbox One).
    – They are also doing a game upgrade program if you have PS3 & upgrade to PS4. Trade in your 2k14 for PS3 + $10 and you get the PS4 version.

  • IDK

What kind of games are you thinking? At 10 years old I doubt you plan on buying him the next halo or any shooter games. Scratch that. I had Goldeneye at 10, I don’t see why he couldn’t get any shooters. PS4 starts at $100 cheaper and has better specs. Xbox one forces you to get Kinect which I have a feeling would not be used much by your son. So really it’s a toss up.

My advice: Get a PS4 because A: it’s cheaper, B: it’s smaller, C: PS3′s top games will eventually be available for digital download

I’m getting both though. If you play ESPN Fantasy Bball watch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cJquhfP_oA8

  • Stepfan Raiford

Just fix the servers for the 100th time.

Does anyone have any recommendations for for NBA games other than 2K sports? Last time I owned and played 2K sports was about 11 years ago. Thinking about getting a new console just to play an NBA game, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

  • Ishmael Jenkins

Every time a new 2K game is released, I get the urge to find my Sega Genesis and pop in NBA Live 95 or 96. Not because the new thing sucks, but because after a while, there are not many improvements that can be made. I lost interest quickly in 2K13 after playing it. I was actually upset with the Heat still wearing white socks with away uniforms. Or the Thunder wearing white socks and shoes with away uniforms. Not being able to do much on My Player mode without the Internet. Not having the newest shoes already on there without having to unlock something. That’s when I knew it was time to back away and not care so much about these things. But to all those who still get excited about it, enjoy it. After 20 years, I’m retiring.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Really? Good to know I might look into that.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Lol oh ok well too be honest I think both are great it’s just a matter of which one you like more. I know the XBox 360 had a lot of red ring of death problems as opposed to the PS3 which has the yellow light but it rarely happens.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

yeah, Madden is the first game in the program actually. Go to IGN.com

  • http://h2hoops.wordpress.com/ Habeeba Husain

    Pablo PRIGIONI!

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

I’m so sick of Madden dude lol

  • Da Real

I’m so glad this was not “executive produced” by Jay Z , haha

  • Caboose

Would anyone else love to see like a “Hardcore Association” mode? Player ratings are never available, scouting reports only give you letter grades, CBA rules are strictly enforced, you have to keep up both Fan Approval and Owner Approval, and the AI only trades when they get something they need? Cause I’d play the crap out of that, but I am a nerd.

  • Sixernation

    We need some sixers highlights!

  • Caboose

Just get 2K Sports, it really is the best one out there.

  • Saleem Rainman

    that would be amazing.

  • bringbackthesonics

kinect is pretty fun for kids, my nieces and nephew love it

  • http://www.netstakeover.com/ JetSkiJohnson

that ball fake is atrocious ! smh

  • Caboose

Not necessarily. Look at a game like The Last of Us. Hell, even look at something as old as God of War 3. The reason graphics haven’t progressed (at all) is the lack of competition. 2K knows they’re the best on the market by far, so why keep innovating? Same strategy Apple used from 2008-2011 and what is KILLING them right now.

  • Todo Bien

no kevin durant or oklahoma city thunder in this trailer ? oh yeah lebron was directing this and it had to be all about him from beginning to end , for a minute i thought this was nbaLebronjames not nba2k , definetely wont be buying this , boycott this guy , fraud all over it ,

  • Todo Bien

no kd either ? oh yeah lebron me was running the show

  • danpowers

you can actually play it like that if you like. its not too bad to be able to interfere in case it is needed. e.g. i cant accept a scenario in which michael beasley puts up 20 and 10, there is no way i wouldnt edit fiascos like that to adjust the game back to reality.

  • Max

    Looks like someone is mad.

  • Dfrance

    Thanks bro!

  • Dfrance

    Thanks for the input.

  • Jay Cutler

Apple is still one of the most profitable companies in the world, if not the most profitable.

That is a mind blowing amount of business success by any metric.

  • Caboose

I own Apple stock man, I’m well aware. What I’m saying is, Appld has lost their stranglehold on the smartphone market. Samsung, Nokia, and Droid are gradually sapping market share away, and it’s because Apple has made only incremental changes both to their hardware and OS. For example, why does the iPhone have the exact same keyboard as one from 2007? On the same token, why is facial scanning technology the same for 2K14 as it is for 2K10? Lack of solid competition.

  • Caboose

Unless your kid is really tech savvy, I’d side towards the PS4. The XB One has lots of cool features, but it needs a near constant stream of Internet access. PS4 is much easier to pop in a game and go.

  • bobby

nba live is finally coming back out….but theres a good chance it wont be nearly as good as 2k…

  • bobby

why? hov made the soundtrack to last years game great. the new one is awful

  • Mike Gilbert

he plastered his name and label everywhere in that game. It was obnoxious

  • Mike Gilbert

You can’t stand the socks that the players where in 2k, but are cool with the pixels in nba live 95……….

  • Ishmael Jenkins

Yes. At 7 years old, I was okay with the pixels in NBA Live 95. I was a little perturbed with the nets not having any hole at the bottom of them…but the pixels were cool.

  • 23

    He did? Or 2k did?

  • Fat Lever

Will the latest roster update include Lebron’s decision to finally shave his dome. Because THAT’S the only way I’ll buy the game.

  • LakeShow

Do you know anything about The Last of Us production difficulties and time put into it??

It was in production since mid 2009… They had ton’s of struggles throughout.

It’s barely any better, graphic wise, really than Drake’s Fortune 2.

They can polish the crap out of a game, but it’s still limited to the console.

They can’t take 4 or 5 years building a basketball game obviously lol….

    My point stands.

  • Caboose

Very true, but honestly, 2K14 graphics look similar to games that came out in 2009 and you can’t tell me that graphics from 4 years ago look the same as they do now. Consoles have limitations, I get that, but it seems like 2K has stopped improving the graphics.

  • LakeShow

It very well may be a 2k problem. They have never cared as much about graphics it seems. Just enough to get by.
LIVE actualy had better graphics a few years. Look up google pictures of Live vs 2k graphics.
So yeah it doesn’t help 2k has no competition.

  • Caboose

Honestly 2K stopped improving the day that Live stopped.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

dude. it’s a yearly iteration. they have been improving, incrementally. they can’t make big changes in under a calendar year. the problem with sports games, is that other games who are used to playing long worked on IP’s – don’t appreciate the fact that those games take an average of 4 years to finish. — for 2k to make a drastic change to graphics, they would have to start from scratch.
    .
it’s the exact thing that Live gave into. They thought the concept that their product was getting stale would hurt them in the long run, so they hit reset. Except, it’s f*cking impossible to get a competitive sports video game out from scratch, in under a year. And we haven’t seen a usable NBA Live in 3 years now.

  • Caboose

To me though, it feels like 2K12 and 2K13 were just like very nice patches of 2K11.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

    you just play association mode?

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

for the record, i’m not saying they are improving as much as they can. i just think expecting any sort of drastic changes on the same console, almost 10 years after it’s release, in a game that has yearly releases, is unrealistic.

  • Caboose

Oh, and you can’t go into “edit player” and tweak tendencies or positions or stuff like that.

  • Caboose

Ah I’m talking in reference to association mode, graphics, and my player. I think 2K spends too much time tweaking gameplay itself. Granted, they do improve year over year in that regard, but I think 2K13 actual gameplay was excellent. It’s everything else that could use more focus.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

most of the complaints they get are gameplay related. that i know. not sure why they don’t add more features or depth to their different modes. Or why they just blatantly ignore things in the modes that are a big part of real life.
    .
    just an example,

I do not understand why in association mode, i can’t make trades during free agency. Even if they add in “trades in principle” it would make a lot more sense then me needing to change a contract with a low level role player just so i can offer that extra $2 million to a free agent, when in real life i would just be able to do a sign and trade, or low level, role player for 2nd round pick trade to clear cap space.
    .
    i too, am a nerd.

  • bobby

where? i still play it and dont see that…..unless ur referring to his songs in the game, but i enjoy those idk about you

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk
  • Smits#45

The graphis aren’t even so much more different than 2K11. You’re right about the diversity in animations though…

  • Mike Gilbert

Why would 2k have any interest in advertising JayZ in their game?
