Drake Explains Why He Teamed Up With the Toronto Raptors (VIDEO)

“It’s gonna be great for the city.”

As we know by now, Drake is the Toronto Raptors’ new “Global Ambassador,” a pretty ambiguous title that seems to imply the rapper will have at least a little bit of creative control over the future of the franchise. In the vid above, Drizzy explains why he wanted to team up with the organization.

I’ve never listened to Drake song, and I never will.

  • Free Abe

Too bad they not good enough to make playoffs and not bad enough to get Wiggins

  • spit hot fiyah

which is the worst thing to do in the nba

  • Jeremy de Sa

Well aren’t you the cat’s pyjamas.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Give his new album a chance man it’s actually really good. The production is on point, subject matter is the same though, and the features are all dope. All in all it’s a good album.

  • Dfrance

    Why not?

  • JibbsIsBallin

The best days of watching the raptors play was when Vince and T-Mac dominated games. Crazy to think that Vince still plays in the league after all these years.

  • RayJr

Uhh…because he’s from Canada? DING DING DING!

  • LakeShow

I don’t know about kitty, and PJ’s. But I won’t listen to that trash and i’m a little surprised some of the guys here are standing up for … Drake…

I grew up listening to NWA, Tupac, and Biggie… Drake does not assimilate with me.

  • LakeShow

    Sorry man, I can’t.

It’s against everything I hold music to be.

  • LakeShow

I don’t think he is very talented. I think he is a media production. I don’t connect with anything about him. I just can’t bring myself to even give him a chance.

All that said and I have never listened to a song of his… Maybe i’m getting carried away with it… Maybe he is has positive and inspirational lyrics I don’t know about.

  • yeeyo

You will not die if you listen to one song. You are OVER REACTING bro its not a big deal

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

he’s definitely talented. but no, he has no positive or inspirational lyrics. he is a rapper. not a christian rock artist.

  • EmR

Shut… the F*** … up… people like you irrrrkkk me , and screw the lakers

  • Dfrance

Idk, I’m the biggest Nas Stan around, but I also enjoy Drake’s music, I think he’s talented. But if he’s just not your cup of tea thats cool.

  • Dfrance

    Lol, chill man.

  • insaneinthemembrane

You’re just limiting yourself man. I used to obssess about 90s rap and wouldnt dare listen to anything that came out after after the year 2000ish. Its not all bad from there

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

    Lol I feel you man.

  • LakeShow

    Have a good day man.

  • LakeShow

Yes because in order to spread a positive message and bring humanity to an understanding that we are one, can only come from christian rock.

Sorry, money and b*tches are not the end all be all in life for me.

I just feel everything mainstream right now is beyond horrid.

    I’m that guy.

    EVERYTHING

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

the point being, i hope you don’t listen to any rap. or enjoy any rapper. or this isn’t really about what his music is about.

  • LakeShow

I don’t listen to much, but if I do:

    Lupe

    Kid Cudi

A Tribe Called Quest (back in the day)

Right now I kinda like Prince EA, but for the most part I listen to meditation music and down-tempo.

Hip-Hop and Rap is for when I wanna play ball, party, or something to get me pumped up.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUcJRKVuPak

  • LakeShow

    I love Nas.

You like Lupe, Kudi or Prince EA at all?

KRS-1 is one of the few still holding it down for me.

  • http://twitter.com/sooperfadeaway nbk

i’m diggin this EA cat so far. listening to this again. but this dude is dope.

  • Fat Lever

Don’t do it/No, don’t do it/Cause if you make Global Ambassador then we all go through it.

  • VanCityBBall

I feel exactly the same… Nas, De La Soul, KRS is my type of music, mainly due to the subject matter. back in those days it didn’t feel like some of their songs were written out on an airplane napkin… As in the hook/ chorus isn’t just one word/ line like it is today…

  • thebossman15

ur the 40 year old virgin guy.

  • LakeShow

Glad to see someone on my side haha.

  • LakeShow

    Steve Carrel?

  • Pais

“I don’t think he is very talented.” …”I have never listened to a song of his” Err, ok?

“positive and inspirational lyrics”…”I grew up listening to NWA”

    You’re funny

  • LakeShow

    My words:
“All that said and I have never listened to a song of his… Maybe i’m getting carried away with it.”

Did I say I was looking for positive and inspirational lyrics as a 13 year old when I was listening to NWA? No.

I said that ‘now’ I am looking for that, and here’s what I listen to:

    Lupe
    Kid Cudi
A Tribe Called Quest ( more-so back in the day)
    Prince EA

    You’re ferny… Read better.

  • Enigmatic

I mean…album is wack to me. Production is subpar, except maybe the first track. Too music singing, R&B sounding production and auto-tune for me.

Haha, honestly, everyone’s opinion of musical tastes are gonna be different, of course. There’s no right or wrong. But it’s wack to me.

  • thebossman15

It was in response to your above statement, “I’m that guy.”

  • LakeShow

Are you implying that i’m a 40 year old virgin, or that i’m a hilarious hairy chested man?

  • showtime

    that video was awesome!

  • tomb

I’m not a Drake fan either, but at least I listened to come to my conclusion. For me, anyone who criticizes things they’ve never seen or heard, your opinion in null and void. You don’t even matter.

  • Tony Taylor

    Big K.R.I.T…….that is all

  • LakeShow

Indeed, I love everything about it!

  • Mariano

Lol what does Kid Cudi rap about that`s so “inspirational” and “positive”? I don’t like Drake, but at least I gave the guy’s music a chance before criticizing anything. You’re the typical wannabe hip-hop head who knows NOTHING about hip hop except a few names (like Lupe, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, KRS-One) and still wants to debate real hip-hop. Btw, KRS-One, Lupe and Nas are all nut jobs nowadays… Just saying…

  • VanCityBBall

what do you mean by “nut jobs”?

  • LakeShow

I don’t want to debate hip hop.

You know way more than me.

I didn’t mention Talib Kweli because I have never listened to him.

I have never EVER claimed to be a “hip-hop head.”
I make electronic music. I use some hip hop beats and samples, but that’s about the most I listen to hip hop these days unless i’m doing something athletic or at a party. I grew up on it, but not too much anymore at all.

Any other completely false allegations and straw man arguments you’d like to toss my way? lol

  • MackAtttack

Older Drake is good if you like rap. New Drake is radio-friendly

  • aldisiij367

My Uncle Jayden just got a 6 month old Volkswagen Touareg by working parttime off of a laptop… have a peek at this site www.JAM20.com

  • Dfrance

He does sing a lot on there, but that’s what the album purchasers like so I guess he has to cater to that. The production on the intro is crazy dope to me.

I appreciate his old stuff much more now, when he used to just rap.

  • Dfrance

    How is Nas a nutjob?

  • Dfrance

Never heard of Prince EA, gotta give him a listen. I love Lupe when he’s being coherent, I think sometimes he tries to hard. I like Kudi, Man on the Moon 1 and 2 are dope, haven’t heard his latest yet. Loved him on How to Make it in America. lol.

  • Francis Aboy
  • Enigmatic

Yeah, no lie I played it on Spotify and was just expecting to hate it from beginning to end. Then that “Tuscan Leather” track came on and I was like, “huh…this is nice.” Reminded me of those tracks with sped-up soul samples that Kanye popularized in the early 2000′s. Rest of the album’s production didn’t do it for me but that track right there was dope, can’t hate.

And though I personally don’t like his stuff. I can respect his formula. Dude makes music primarily for the ladies, which a lot of cats hate on. But 2Pac himself said the same ish back in the day. He said first make music the ladies will want to hear, once you have the ladies, the guys will wanna listen to what the ladies listen to. Only difference is chicks wanted to hear stuff that was a lot more hardcore back in the early 90′s haha.

  • http://soundcloud.com/tray-8 T-Ray

Your last statement is the winner. Music is subjective so everyone is going to have their own taste. I just enjoyed the album much more than his first 2 albums. I like a lot of the production because it’s smooth and melodic. Yet at the same time I’ll switch to Pusha T’s MNIMN because that’s that gudda sh*t I need lol

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

lol what do you hold music to be?

  • Dfrance

That 40 cat has some skills, weaved those 3 variations of the beat perfectly and Drake came with it lyric wise.

Lol, yeah, there is a huge difference between Thug Passion and Hold On, We’re Going Home!

  • EmR

I hope you dont have a good day lmfao

  • LakeShow

Exactly… enjoy if you like, not saying you’re wrong, or it’s bad, but it is not appealing to me.

  • LakeShow

A tool for expanding consciousness and creating an environment that caters to a positive mindset is what “I” hold music to be.

You can hold a different candle to it of course.

  • LakeShow

And that’s the difference between you, and I.

    N’joy your Soulja Boi, bud.

Do enjoy the rest of your day, sincerely, I hold no ill will towards a person that does not view things with my same paradigm.

    Be well.

  • http://signup.divinerenergy.com/ Anthony Dixon

This is an great definition even though i like all types.

  • Joe Kuykendall

H-town, Texas made Drake. GO ROCKETS

  • guest

People Under the Stairs is who you should be listening to. Damn good and they’re from LA so you can listen to it while you masturbate to pictures of Kobe.
