Norris Cole Breaks Derrick Rose’s Ankles With Crossover (VIDEO)

Not a very polite welcome back.

Chicago Bulls superstar Derrick Rose made his highly-anticipated return to NBA action. He was rudely welcomed back by a spanking by the Miami Heat, and a nasty crossover by Norris Cole (of all people).

He tripped over Birdman’s feet. Good move by Norris…but that’s not what made Derrick fall. Watch Birdman untangle his feet from Derrick’s after trying to set a screen on him.

“D. Rose’s knee seems fine but Norris Cole just broke his ankles”

  • LP @ThisisEther

    Exactly….

  • Braxton P Hartnabrig

First the acl, now the ankles! I will always wear Nikes.

  • JibbsIsBallin

Come on SLAM. Rose got his foot caught up with Birdman. Nice move my Cole though. I think Rose was just trying to prevent an injury.

  • jls

    you can do better SLAM…

  • chump

No. This is how they click whore.

I am curious as to who is down-voting this and why.

He clearly stepped on Andersen’s foot.

Who knows? Comment sections are full of people who enjoy showing how ignorant they are. Or people who just feel like clicking buttons.

Def not an ankle breaker, nice move by Cole tho.

  • K_HOLIDAY

In the words of Mark Jackson, ” Slam, you’re better than this!” He obviously got tripped.

Nice crossover but the fall was more so the momentum coupled with Birdman’s feet. Nonetheless he fell so it’s an “ankle breaker” by definition I guess.

Cole didn’t make him fall but he d@mn sure crossed him over. Its hard to tell from the video whether Rose saw the screen and was trying to jump it. He doesn’t turn his head at all, but he could have saw Birdman coming out his peripheral.

But lets not act like the crossover had nothing to do with him going the other way.

  • R32

Still got shifted – Rose went one way when Norris clearly went another.

  • LP @ThisisEther

The screen from Anderson had everything to do with him going the other way…. If there is no screen coming, Rose is playing him straight up, and this probably doesnt happen….

It was a great cross tho…..very crisp

  • Dev

    Nooo he wasnt ready lol

I voted it down because i did not see “birdman untangle his feet from derricks”. I saw Birdmans foot in the middle of Derricks split.

That happens on almost every basic left to right or right to left crossover…defenders go the other way when the ballhandler switches the ball over to the other hand. That’s the purpose of the move. If that’s the definition of being “crossed over”, then that happens almost every game, especially on plays like this where a screen is about to be set. The fact remains that if Birdman was not there, Rose wouldn’t have fallen which means Cole didn’t cross him over. The proper title for the video should be “Rose trips over Birdman’s foot”.

  • Dfrance

Since when is the definition of being crossed over “to fall”? Since when do defenders go the other way on “almost every basic crossover”? I agree that Rose was probably anticipating the screen and when Cole set up the cross, he jumped over as to not get hit with it. But in my opinion, Cole still crossed him over. Cole didn’t make him fall, but he helped him into that screen.

The title should be simply, “Cole Crosses Rose Over”

  • Dfrance

I just think he crossed him over. he didn’t destroy Rose’ ankles like the Miami bench and the headline want us to believe. But he crossed and Rose went the other way. Of course Rose was probably jumping the screen, but at the very end of the day, he went one way and Cole went the other way.

But Rose fell because he tripped over Birdmans foot, not the cross, I agree with that. I just think Cole deserves a little bit of credit.

  • robb

Miami fans. They leave the arena early so they can have more time to be obnoxious

  • Cortez Mack

“Since when do defenders go the other way on “almost every basic crossover”?”

    They do not.

…and then the blow by happens.

  • Blade Pipes

You have to know something about basketball. Clearly he crossed him over, people get crossed all the time (It’s apart of playing good defense). But you can see that he would’ve recovered and stayed in front of him had he not stepped on Birdmans foot. He didn’t make him fall though.
