Deron Williams Hurt His Left Ankle Again (VIDEO)

Having sat out the two previous games with a sprained left ankle, Deron Williams returned and promptly hurt the joint again after landing on Kemba Walker’s foot in the second quarter last night. Per Newsday: “He’s just as frustrated as we are,’ Paul Pierce said after the 95-91 loss to Charlotte. ‘Obviously, he’s been dealing with this all summer and then one ankle gets better and he hurts the other one. You have to talk to him to really understand his frustration, but we’re also frustrated for him.’ With just more than three minutes left in the second quarter, Williams landed on Kemba Walker’s foot as he followed through on a jumper. Williams, fouled on the play by Walker, tried to walk it off and took the free throws. But after Williams made both, the Nets fouled on the ensuing possession to get him out of the game.”

man damn…they’ll never get it together if Deron can’t stay healthy.

Time to lace up them Ektios.

Shut it down already. Give Livingston the reigns, enough is enough. Go re-hab and start working out an Ektio endorsement deal. Get them to develop a black Brooklyn edition Breakaway.

  • LP @ThisisEther

you are mentally done for months after you re-sprain your ankle….

  • Stepfan Raiford

So Deron Williams has ankle cancer like Steph Curry?

  • Saleem Rainman

he isnt tweaking it by moving too quickly or changing directions or anything, he just constantly lands on a defenders foot, its bad luck. No need to “shut it down” like its a chronic issue , its chronic bad luck, if anything.

  • Dfrance

I guess Kinesio tape doesn’t prevent ankle rolls.

  • Dfrance

Not quite, Curry routinely rolls his ankle over the 3 point line without another soul near him. Williams actually lands on other peoples feet and things like that.

In a sport like basketball spraining your ankle is a matter of occupational hazard. No matter the cause, we are talking about consecutive sprains with little to no healing time in between. His ligaments are now so frail that the risk of re- accurance has grown exponentially. Luck or no luck. He needs to sit out 4 to 6 weeks to heal and then strengthen surrounding muscles. Then his people need to come up with a strategy to deal with his chronic condition. Right now he is practically useless to the team and stands in the way of Livingston’s need to conduct the offense and build the confidence it takes to be a starting PG for a team with high aspirations. I was baffled to see that he was cleared to play last night. Surely DWill feels a sense of responsibility for the team’s dismall record, but he really needs to step back and address his issue right now. What if he keeps coming back and re-injuring the ankle on a weekly basis and then something bad happens to Shawn. What they’re doing right now so far carries way too much risk. Shut it down.

And for the record, go look at the previous sprain when he just casually walked backward and stepped on Blatche’s foot. That wasn’t a high velocity incident.

…loss to bobcat? thats rock bottom….with all of that big names & payroll

yea i feel they rushed him back too. I also thought he needed surgery but i’m no doctor.

  • Sérgio

Oh, so am I. I gringe every time I see someone rolling an ankle.

  • Max

    I feel your pain smh.

According to Saleen just give him a rabbits foot and spray some windex on his ankle!

Apparently surgery for even grade 3 type sprains is rare. Most likely he is suffering from consecutive grade 1 type sprains which might accumulate to having the disabling effects of a grade 2. Mentally he is in a bad space right now and I feel it is affecting the whole ball club. I have a feeling that this is unrelated to the bone-spur issues of a year ago for which he might have had surgery in the off-season or not. Rest, re-hab and different sneakers is probably what is needed for his ligaments. I’m not a doctor either but I did solve my ankle spraining issues.

Well you sound more qualified than me lol.

But yea i hope he changes something. KG and PP look old and JJ is the skillful Tim Tebow.
