Evan Turner Apologizes for 360 Dunk on the Lakers (VIDEO)

The Lakers did not seem happy.

Sixers guard Evan Turner threw down a very nice (but completely unnecessary) 360-dunk at the end of the 111-104 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. Realizing his mistake after hearing boos from angry Laker fans, Turner immediately apologized.

“I’m sorry I did some fancy ass dunk in the last 11 secs of the game. I really am but I had no choice. You brought this on yourself. Did I tell you I was sorry?” — Evan Turner

  • Max

    Pretty nice slam tho!

  • Cortez Mack

Who came up with this silly “rule” anyway? These dopes spend nearly the entire game being unsportsmanlike with all sorts of trash talk and hey look at me celebrations, then for some odd reason, a basket at the end of the game is sacrilegious.

If they did not want him to dunk, they should have secured the rebound.

  • spit hot fiyah

sick dunk! one of those “andre miller i didn’t know he had that in him” dunk. play until the final buzzer, no need to apologize

  • jmm

haha, nick young you pouty little princess

  • Dfrance

Or ran back on defense. They all stood there in the backcourt, then acted like babies when he dunked the ball. FOH.

I like how in this video Swaggy P is apparently the representative of “good, sound” basketball, based on his reaction. Think about that for a minute. Same guy who did this:

  • computerdude

What is he apologizing for? Its not like they were up 30 points and he did it.

No apology needed. Game doesn’t end til the clock stops ticking.

  • VanCityBBall

Oh please Nick Young, you would have done the exact same thing if the situation was reversed…

  • Drig

    That was……nice.

Evan Turner being WAYYYYY too nice there after the play with the Lakers bench. Jeez dude, it wasn’t that unsportsmanlike.

  • tytyty

No harm, no foul. I do this all the time in 2k14 lol……i like the lakers’ announcers, definitely no homer, unlike other announcers from other teams….. ahemmm Clippers

  • pposse

that dunk was sick, no need to apologize, its not like the sixers and lakers will meet in the finals or anything.

  • jrandz

Makes it even worse that he apologized. If you’re gonna do it, do it and be the bad guy. Come on now, Lakers were losing all game and another player went down (Henry). Already a frustrating game and he decides to do a 360 windmill at the buzzer to cap it off? It’s not a “rule”, its good sportmanlike conduct. I understand if you don’t want to shake hands at the buzzer, but to showboat in front of the other teams crowd? BS.

  • ATL dynamite

That shows how ecstatic the Sixers are for every single win they can get this season lol

  • Darksaber

Fantastic that it’s “Swaggy” who’s being the most vocal about this, that paragon of saintly, sportsmanlike behavior.

  • underdog

I’m pretty sure Young looked so disappointed because someone told him right after the buzzer, that he finished the game with 6/21 FG.

I know this sounds rough, but… If you don’t Turner to do that, perhaps win the game? Then this whole incident wouldn’t occur. If someone did that at the end of the game playing against my team which we’re losing in, I’d be more upset at myself for losing the game, not for that.

Nick Young is mad because he didn’t think of that first

  • Nathan Shane Long

Nick Young mad he lost to his former team i didn’t think Evan Turner could even pull off such a dunk

  • playa

As a lakers fan- be cool man, no need to apologize, i f#ckin hate this apologizing for EVERY GOD DAMN THING sh#t!!!. In words of Paradise Lost-”Understand procedure, understand war,Understand rules, regulations, I don’t understand sorry”

  • playa

Hahah my man, in 2k14 i run up the score in every imaginable way possible, i always takes shots if there’s more than 3 seconds, even if i have 30 points margin win, i just dont give a F.

  • http://triplejunearthed.com/dacre Dacre

Hall of fame mode…. no sportsmanship.

  • bike

There are only so many opportunities to do a 360 dunk in a player’s lifetime. Gotta get ‘em while ya can.

  • Lloyd

It’s an etiquette thing I think. Do whatever it takes to win, but embarrassing an
opponent for no reason is unnecessary. If there’s nothing that can
happen in the last possession to affect your win, then it’s just
basically kicking an opponent while they’re down to pull stuff like this. There’s no other result other than stat stuffing/intentional disrespect to the other
team. It’s equivalent to running up the score.

  • Skinny Pete

He was probably upset at himself because Turner actually made a 360 dunk & he couldn’t.

  • The Seed

The dunk was fine, I like Evan Turner’s game. No need to apologize, Swaggy P would do the same thing. My Lakers need some heart and who is the Lakers shooting coach. Swaggy P has to learn how to pass up shots, Come on Man. I can’t wait for our top 10 pick this year. BOOK IT!!

  • Allan

    Shot clock cheese!

  • Ishan

it’s the NBA there is no reason to feel bad for any team any given night.

  • Shooting Guard

  • DJ_BobbyPeru

I think he just couldn’t help himself. Sometimes you see that open court and you go “awww yeaaaaaa…oh wait, just kidding”.

Seems like a nice guy. Weird voice though.

Larry Bird would have told them he’s going to shoot a 3 in their face with a second to go, shot it, made it, pulled their shorts down and moonwalked out of the building. Spirit of competition my friends.
    P.S. I’m not 100% sold on Bird moonwalking myself…

  • Cory SP8

You are an entertainer!!!! Why apologize for entertaining?

  • drew

screw unwritten rules. enough of this bs. play ball till the clock stops ticking.

  • swaggy p

hell naw….i woulda pulled up for a 3…more points.

  • call me li

Llyod is right. It’s more of an etiquette/respect thing. It does put on a show for the fans…still it’s disrespectful. As a competitor you already know you were outplayed (by observing the scoreboard) so it’s kinda salt in the wound. Not about feeling bad for anybody, just about respecting the competition and winning with humility.

    That being said…let’s go Sixers!

  • King David

keep it real how many of us knew evan turner could even do that ? LOL
