Paul George Scores a Career-High 43 Points vs Blazers (VIDEO)

One-man wrecking crew.

Despite a career-best performance from Paul George (43 points on 16/30 shooting from the field), the Indiana Pacers couldn’t stretch their winning streak past seven games. The Portland Trail Blazers won 106-102, giving the Pacers just their second loss of the season.

Current MVP or nah ? Best player on the best team or nah ?

  • TBRK

    definitely

Don’t know about anyone else, but I’m enjoying watching Paul George this season. His confidence is clearly on another level. Andre Drummond and Paul George are the most interesting players I’m watching thus far.

What I’m not enjoying is how awful the Eastern Conference is. I’ll be surprised if Indiana or Miami loses one game in the playoffs before they meet each other in the Conf Finals.

Some of those 3′s at the end, damn those were nice.

Agreed, add Anthony Davis to the list though

  • RunMoreThanYourMouth

    Agreed.

I still give it to Lebron. Better stats, and his team has a similar record. The Pacers have also had one of the easiest schedules in the league.

But it’s close, and that’s amazing.

I thought it was just me. I noticed that the Pacers haven’t exactly been playing the stiffest of competition lately. However, Paul George has been a pleasure to watch this season.

This guy is starting to look something like a kobe lite, this dude has gotten so much better in just the past 2 years its arguably one of the biggest leaps skill-wise in 2 years ever seen in a player

  • Caboose

He’s a better defender right now than Kobe has ever been.

  • Free Abe

TMAC from his 2nd year to his fourth year>>>

  • LakeShow

Yeah, that is most likely true, due to his length and ability to focus on that end more than the other.

  • Mariano

I read somewhere that the Pacers had the easiest schedule in the league and that the Heat had the third easiest.

  • LP @ThisisEther

ahhhh thats a stretch…..Kobe used to D-up several several years ago….

  • Caboose

Kobe could guard the 2 spot very well. George can guard 1-4 as one of the top 5 in the L.

  • j

    dat mid range step back

  • thebossman15

just no..hes kobe lite for a reason

  • Caboose

Kobe’s best defensive rating ever was a 98. His next best is 102. George’s last year was 97 and he’s at 91 so far this year. So yes, Goerge is a better defender now than Kobe has ever been. This isn’t even arguable.

  • anon

Word. If he’d hit that one off the steal and pass by George Hill, it would have been Reggie Miller all over again. Even though they lost, Paul George showed em all something that game.

  • Dagger

He`s Kobe lite because you said so. And you gave no reasons for that claim.

  • thebossman15

Thought it was obvious, first off kobe is his favorite player which is why he wears number 24..they play very similarly in that they kinda move the same way and are always on the attack with the ability to score at will(george hasnt exactly shown it consistently but i dont see why he cant have games like these more often) they make plays, they both have the killer mentality and want the last shot, very skilled and can score in many ways offensively(off the stepback/pull-up, attacking the rim, threes etc)

Both 2 way players who can lock down when needed(george moreso now simply cause time is starting to catch up to kobe as well as the fact that the pacers are a defensive minded team, but in their primes george somewhat rivals him defensively). etc etc.

  • thebossman15

This useless advanced stat can be significantly influenced by the defense of a player’s teammates. Indiana is the best defensive team in the league, but you probably think thats just a coincidence huh? So no, George isnt a better defender now than kobe has ever been, hes simply just a better defender now because he is younger and when you have the best rim protector in the league as well as a defensive minded coach, your gonna put more effort defensively,

Its not like he’s expending a whole lot of energy gettin buckets at will like kobe..hes simply doing a little of both because he has the luxury of doing just that with as many threats as he has on his team, opposing defenses cant really key in on one specific player which allows easier scoring opportunities whereas kobe had to fight through doubles the majority of his career which tires you out and may cause him to drift sometimes when your 35 yrs old.

  • Caboose

Who was that teammate Kobe had…dang he was a center….he was big….I think he might have taken a whole lot of the scoring load off of Kobe but I’m not certain….

You’re right, Kobe didn’t expend the effort George does. This had made George a better defender. I don’t see the intricate complexities here.

  • Caboose

Don’t get me wrong, prime Kobe was a top 10 perimeter defender in the game. He could lock up a lot of really good 2 guards. But George is on the same plane as LeBron and Iggy; he will lock up the opposing teams best player as long as theyre not a center. Period.

  • Caboose

Because he legitimately thinks Kobe is still a Top 5 player in the L and a top 5 player of all time.

i actually gave an explanation below, i dont know if it magically disappeared or not, and your an open kobe hater, it makes sense that you feel like im the only who believes this way lmao, step outside of your house for once f*ck, the chances you wont find millions more people like me are slim to f*kin none

  • thebossman15

    you mean like this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jH54uNLqPhg

plus, do you think lebron is a better defender than paul george lol

  • Caboose

George is more skilled, Bron is more diverse.

Late response, but George cant guard 1-4…..maybe 1-stretch4…..lebron only guy that could possibly shut down 4 positions, regardless…..zack randolph would prolly work paul george out…maybe even dirk…a healthy rose or westbrook would maybe work him too……
