Joe Johnson Pokes Jimmy Butler in the Head During Skirmish (VIDEO)

Things got testy between Joe Johnson and Jimmy Butler Thursday night in the Windy City. After taking a sly elbow to the chest from Johnson, Butler let him know that he didn’t appreciate it, and Iso Joe responded by jabbing an index finger in Jimmy’s grill. Both players were assessed technical fouls. Fun times.

    1) What was Butler initially so heated about, that simple pushoff?

    2) Calling what Noah did a “bear hug” does not do it justice, that was a Passionate-Valentine’s-Day-Embrace.

  • pposse

    1. Joe Johnson is a lame
    2. The best C in the league does but the best C in the league do

  • Mario_23

Kinda funny, but it’ll never beat that Rafer Alston smack in the head of Eddie House.

I’m just curious what Butler said that got JJ so heated.

  • Dfrance

Must had been something brewing all game for them to overreact to each other like that. JJ’s little push off wasn’t that serious, and Butler asking him why he pushed him was even less serious.

  • pposse

Joe Johnson was mad cause Butler was locking him up the whole game dude shot 4/14 for the game.

Glad someone else agrees. I’d take Noah over anyone else.

  • ATL dynamite

Lmao at Andray Blatche’s ‘Hold me back’ moment

  • Ohboy

Tell you right now, Jimmy would beat that ass fo shooo. Anyone who grows up that way doesn’t play when it’s time to get down

  • spit hot fiyah

maybe he pointed out that it wasn’t fair that joe got a free vacation in NO this weekend even though he doesn’t deserve it

  • LakeShow

I really, really liked Joe Johnson before he got his contract.

  • LakeShow

I LOVE Noah and Butler. The Bulls team is missed in the top East spot right now w/o Rose.

Enigmatic, pposse, every guy I’m forgetting… I’m sorry. Ya’ll will be back though.

  • LakeShow

    Well that escalated quickly.

I love Noah, but that’s a stretch. I can dig it though.

  • LakeShow

He wasn’t that heated. Yeah it was the shove off, and probably a 100 things before that.

But it was Joe Cool who lost his cool with the weird finger tap.

  • shockexchange

JJ “sonned” Jimmy Butler. In the Shock Exchange’s opinion, that was worse than actually getting slapped … not that he would know, of course.

  • pposse

i look at it like this, Marc Gasol has been hurt, is offensive game is probably better cause he can pass and atleast look better when he shoots. But he doesnt have anything on Noah defensively and right now Noah is seeing the floor like no other C in the game, the offense is running thru him for the most part and he is making all the right passes. He hustles gets boards and put back…and as far as DH goes if Houston were to swap DH with Noah on the bulls the Bulls would be in shambles while the rockets would maintain their record at the very least

  • Da-Meat-Hook

I agree, he wasn’t that heated, but that shove didn’t warrant Butler approaching him afterwards. Like some others said, it was probably getting chippy before that.

I also agree with you, Noah is one of my favorite players in the league, but calling him the best center on the league is a stretch to say the least.

  • Guest

    Who cares

  • LakeShow

Did you see how he approached him though? It wasn’t like he was going to harm him or push him, but just to say: ” don’t push off like that.” It is illegal after all.

  • LakeShow

I don’t agree on the DH for Noah Swap. I think that both of them would help the other squad more in some ways anyway, but you can make an argument for sure.

    His last 15 games he is at 14 – 14 – 6 – 1.7 – 1 on 49%

    **Sheds single tear**

  • Da-Meat-Hook

It was illegal but it was far from malicious or even dirty. Jimmy didn’t approach him like he was about to throw down, but to be fair, you step to any vet yapping about a basic/simple foul and you’re gonna be put in your place by a finger, mush, or shove.

Can you imagine how many scuffles Kyle Lowry would be in if he stepped to every guy he drew a charge from the way Jimmy stepped to JJ?

  • pposse

im lookin at it like our doesn’t have that star punch right now that DH loves and DH probbaly wouldn’t be happy with the likes of Augustine and Hinrich passing him the ball or if Butler takes an ill advised 3 pter. He would probably complain about not getting the ball and wouldn’t make the proper passes, but we’ll never know. Heres to dh never coming anywhere near the bulls

  • LakeShow

I see your perspective. Vet vs young buck, but I also can’t be mad at Butler if there was sh*t leading up to this.

  • Da-Meat-Hook

Oh no doubt! My guess is that it was chippy all game and it was just 2 competitors who wouldn’t back down. Nothing wrong with that!

  • Da-Meat-Hook

    Completely agree with you.
I think nbk had a great point about Shaq that can be applied to Dwight as well: Just because Dwight may not play to his potential, it doesn’t mean he isn’t the most dominant.
Noah is having a great year and the stats you posted over the past 15 are incredible, but if we look at Dwight’s numbers for the YEAR: 19 – 13 – 2 – 2 – 1 on 58% shooting . . . I just don’t see how someone can say Noah is the best center in the NBA.

  • LakeShow

    I hate Dwight…

    But it’s Dwight lol

  • Enigmatic

Dude, we’re 4th in the East. You make it seem like we’re cellar dwellers this year lol. If anything, I’m ticked off the Bulls refuse to lay down and get a lottery pick.

    On another note:

Reggie Miller: “…made contact here. Cause if it did, he’s gonna be gone. Yup.”
Steve Kerr: “I don’t know. You think he’d get ejected for that?”
    Miller: “No.”

  • LakeShow

That’s exactly what I mean. Ya’ll ain’t good, and ya’ll don’t suck. Gotta be one or the other! It’s terrible. At least he Lakers really, really suck! You would be 12th in the West lol…

  • pposse

My main reasoning is cause DH character is sketchy he burns bridges and its questionable on whether or not he can fit into any system. Guys like Noah has game that will translate into any system and he doesnt judge himself on getting x amount of touches per game.

  • pposse

watch we will get that 3 spot again this year, but will get screwed if we have to play Washington *last yr we got the 5th but i believe in 3 this year

  • BigDaddyKaneBitch

Through out the whole game Joe Johnson was getting shut down by Butler, so he got mad and elbowed him. Butler said something like “dont be mad Im locking you down, watch your elbows”. JJ gets mad, pokes him and says “You aint shutting down sh*t n*gga”.

  • BigDaddyKaneBitch

JJ went 4-14. Butler went 6-8.
