Player of the D.A.Y.
New rule: anyone that beats the Celtics is officially ineligible
Anyone who plays against the Celtics is ineligible for this trophy. Sorry Rip, McDyess, Webber, etc. Come to think of it, this was a night of mismatches. Detroit (or anyone) against the Celtics. Phoenix against Portland, even without Nash went to OT, so Amare and Barbosa are out of luck. Houston-Memphis… very borderline for T-Mac who had another 30+ game, but no. The Knicks-Clippers game was the only one that could have been considered an even match-up (a stretch) and I’m still feeling the aftershock of Tim Thomas giving David Lee a black eye physically, literally, emotionally, and spiritually. Eddy Curry could be the Player of the D.A.Y. since he was traded for Thomas and the pick that became Tyrus “Don’t ask me to answer a question honestly if you don’t like the answer” Thomas. Eddy’s team won the game, while Tyrus is in damage control and Tim’s lost, despite what could be the SLAMadamonth.
So, the Player of the D.A.Y. is none of them and I’m giving it to Ruben Patterson. The Bucks are on a run of losing without Michael Redd that’s not exactly Celtic-bad, but still 15 of 18. The registered sex offender and artist formerly known as the Kobe Stopper had 27, 7, and 6 leading the Bucks to a rare win. On the same day that another Indiana Jailpacer episode has popped off, I’m celebrating a guy that for years was one of the rotten apples of the league, who let his play and a little bit of talk about needing a win, do the talking.
