Big Brother Is Watching and Listening

Starting next week, the NBA will mic its coaches and place cameras in the locker rooms for the nationally-televised games. This, of course, can only result in awesomeness.

Wow, finally something inventive from Sternbot’s minions. Let’s hope Isiah is still there to see his unravelling live and in living color, as it happens.

Or it can just make them more cliched and clandestine than they already are. If you’re gonna do something like that cool, but don’t announce it. That’s how we get the good stuff.

    Both teams played hard.

Myles, it probably wouldn’t matter because the lig would still have to make the teams aware of the tapings, so they would still have time to “conform” to the teams rules of behavior. But you’re probably more right that more of the guys will just “act out” to act out and not really be themselves.

How about the refs locker room? If players and coaches be bugged, I think the refs need to get equal treatment.

are you sure that it is not telescreens being put in the locker rooms. Maybe the coaches are part of the thought police…haha sweet!

I remember the NBA wanting to do this a few years ago.
And coaches complaining (I remember Larry Bird) (and I don’t know if it was him or someone else, but one coach said he’d asked his players to stay naked in the locker room so that they couldnt show it on TV).

moreover, I think that coach added that he would ask everyone to swear a lot so they couldnt televise this.

I saw this during a telecast like 8 years ago and they got real close to Rudy T and for 15 seconds all you heard was a profanity laced rant (ie. “you f’in mother fs, you are the biggest pieces of **** you mother fs”).
And this was completely clear and audible.
Then they cut the audio and went to the commentators and they were like “well, there’s an inside look at Rudy T….uhhh, voicing his displeasure with his team’s play”

  • [...] I wish the Cavs were on national TV tomorrow night so we could witness Varejao’s teammates beating the crap out of him in the locker room for what he’s put them through over the last few months. var staf_confirmtext = ‘Mail sent’ #stafBlock { position: absolute !important; z-index: 100000; display: none; width: 200px; } #stafForm { background-color:#f60; border: 2px solid #000; padding: 5px; margin:0; } #stafForm h2 { margin:0 0 4px;color:#fff;font-size:12px !important;} #stafForm input,label, h2 {font-family:Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 10px; color: #222222; } #stafForm .input_text { width: 90px;margin-bottom: 5px;padding:2px; } #stafForm label { float: left; display: block; width: 75px; line-height: 16px; } #stafForm .input_submit {color:#fff;padding:0 5px;} #stafClose { float: right; margin-right: 5px; } x [...]
