Player of the D.A.Y.

and what a day it is.

By Sam Rubenstein

There were two games played in the NBA last night. Denver at the Lakers, and Houston at Golden State. Both of them could be classified at “blowouts.” Ha ha.

There was also a third game played that was bothering me in the morning, but has provided much laughter since. But hey, since I’ve been working here, and since the team I was so passionate about when I started has become… not so good, they have taken a backseat to teams in other sports as far as loyalty goes. Well, the football Giants are suffering from the usual disease they have around this time of year. And today’s fun issue is the Mets… I can’t go on.

NBA. What I’m supposed to be doing. It’s Friday afternoon, I’m giving it to Kobe. In the past I’ve waited until he goes of for 60-80, but he should be commended for converting his game to the appropriate style for the night, even when faced with two guys that can average 30, as a motivation/temptation.

And now I weep for the past and the future that might have been but never was.

What Reggie Evans said. Him or the aforementioned Casa for shooting (and hitting) a three in the fourth with his team up by 46 AND fouling Nate Robinson on what would have been a breakaway dunk. Casa is gangsta.

I’m a Kobe fan but I gotta commend Vujacic on this one.

OK, I apologize for veering off topic here, but what the hell is wrong with ESPN.com? Two writers there especially piss me off: Gene Wochiwefndcxxsczerbiakowski and J.A. Adande. A while back, right after “SuperBowl 41.5″ Gene Sexyback proclaimed that anyone who even suspected that the Pats may not go undefeated and win the SuperBowl was mentally retarded. Now, after the Cowboys victory over Brett ” Let me just pelt this into triple-coverage” Favre and the Packers, the gap between New England and Dallas is all of a sudden “not insurmountable”. How knee-jerk can you get? But while Sexyback’s “insights” are simplistic and reductionist, Adande’s is just plain offensive. I couldn’t even finish his latest masterwork in which he compares Iverson’s “sordid past” with Vick’s. He commends the way AI has transformed himself from a thug into “the Brett Favre of the NBA.” Dumbsh^ts.

Speaking of ESPN.com, I’m pretty sure the Celtics’ destruction of the Knicks caused gleeful, massive discharge of bodily fluids, since it officially puts the team on par with the 96 Bulls.
