Larry Brown Is Still Larry Brown

by Marcel Mutoni

It’s no secret that Larry Brown desperately wants to get back into coaching. He holds a mysterious position in the Sixers’ front office (does anyone know what dude does all day long, besides preaching ‘The Right Way’ of course?), and he’s bored out of his mind.

It has come out that Brown wants to coach LeBron and the Cavs, and he went about expressing his interest in the gig in typical, sneaky Larry Brown fashion.

According to a league source, when the Cavs were struggling last month, Larry Brown made some back-channel overtures to see if the Cavs were thinking about making a coaching change. Nothing came of it, and one of the reasons the Cavs went ahead with Mike Brown’s two-year extension earlier this month was to quell any rumors the organization was unhappy.

This, of course, should surprise absolutely no one. Brown, you’ll recall, is the same guy who was updating his Curriculum Vitae while coaching the Pistons in the NBA Finals (!) a few years back.

Trust and loyalty aren’t very big with him. As such, he’s not exactly the kind of guy you want steering the career of the League’s brightest young star.

Good for the Cavs. Don’t let that man near the organization.

Brown can’t coach a team where he isn’t the star.

Because Larry Brown did such a great job with LeBron in the Olympics.

Why wasn’t he in the discussion for the Bulls when they fired Skiles? That sounded like a typical Larry Brown job to me, but I never heard his name in that context.

  • John E. Sanford

God this guy is a sh*thead. Why won’t he just go away.

The guy is as low character as you can get, but the Knicks sure continue to make him look better.

Don’t confuse these nitwits with that CV nonsense.
Nitwits: please insert “resume” in place of “Curriculum Vitae”.

Larry Brown and Damon Jones…a match made in heaven.

My hopes for Larry Brown are the same as those Ice Cube once had for Billboard and the editor.
Also, bodie’s afraid of big words.

I’d seriously smack Larry Brown in the face if i saw him.

One big problem with this picture: Danny Ferry. His big trade-in-the-works? Shannon Brown for a second rounder. Oh yeah.

  • The Notorious King

    he should coach denver

  • Reggie Evans

Phil Jackson should coach the Cavs.

  • Phil B

dang, bust out the thesaurus’, Curriculum Vitae!!!!!

    Don’t forget, Mutoni is Canadian.

  • Krayzie Bone

CVs are more detailed than resumes
    think 8 pages vs. 2.

You usually use one when you’re moving into a highly skilled highly credentialled profession like moving law firms or something similar to that. In the NBA, LBs resume would consist of his name on a sheet of paper, because he is a known comodity.

it’s true. up here in canada, we only use fancy words. ‘eh’, for example.

How sad is it that he’s lost his reputation for one stint with a shotty team, that nobody else can seem to turn around. Are we forgetting he’s won over a thousand games, and a NCAA and NBA title. I’m not jumping on the LB hater wagon

  • Dacre

I think he should coach again – how are the developmental league teams looking? Surely theres a spot around.

  • Fredo

the man can coach. he’s also slimy as hell. if you’re desperate, you’ll put up with it.

  • Tarzan Cooper

  • Sizzle

don´t forget he lead the sixers to the finals with iverson and few years later he lead the pistons to their 3rd title, so this guy definitely can coach

  • maio

I thought Iverson led that team. Silly me.
And oh yeah Fu*k Larry Brown. FLB!

  • Jake

Larry Brown should go back in to his momma’s womb and choke himself on the umbilical cord…Jerk…he ruins everything he touches…he’s just like a poopy diaper

Larry exposed himself during the Olympics as a horrible NBA coach.. You don’t let Richard Jefferson play 35 minutes a game, and shoot 6 for 27. Especially when Carmello was coming off the bench and scoring 23, shooting 12 for 15.
College would be great for him though. He’d be the star

  • Zion

because he wants to see whose the better loser between him and isaiah
