Shaq Is Player, Crushes A Lot

by Russ Bengtson

The Suns need to reinforce the baskets at their practice facility so the Big Fella doesn’t do this again. Or this. Or even this (word to Bill Raftery).

The one where he tears the rim off and falls flat on his back–I don’t remember ever seeing that one before. BEAST.

I would hate being the nets after that last dunk, shaq won over the whole building after that..

Russ: i have an old school vhs, called Shaq Attaq: In Your Face, on and off the court, by parade video, from 1992, all college and HS video, and it shows that dunk…

Russ, the one where he falls on his back, he’s playing one on one with Ahmad Rashad on Inside Stuff during his rookie year. Might have been post-draft, pre-rookie year even. I remember watching it way back in the day.

“Sh-bing, bing, bing, baseline fadeway, like Bernard King”.

Hmm…that backboard/hoop config didnt even have a spring mechanism – he just tore it clean outa the glass backing.

It brings back memories of the backyard hoops I’ve torn up…down.
    The 5’9 Shaq Deisel…!?!
Surely youv’e done some hoop damage Russ back in the day?!??!

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

I must have seen that back in the day, then. Maybe I’m just blocking it.
Dacre: Even back when I had hops, I wasn’t much of a rim wrecker. Probably weighed a buck-sixty back then–that would barely snap a breakaway. In fact I managed to pop a shoulder out by grabbing the rim once.

    LOL… nice…
No I’m not talking about regulation height so much…more like “driveway regulation height” which is unofficially 8’5″…
Hey Russ…or anyone infact…beat writers and what not…

you guys/gals still get a run down at the local gym of a weeknight?

Getting some run in keeps you closer to the game. Plus there really is nothing else like it. I’ll continue to play until I leave this earth. I’ll play on mini hoops when I reach 80 – but by then, 80 will probably be the new 40, and Nike will have some shoes that will give me a quick 40″ vertical, so I’ll play on and on and on and on and…

I have a Shaq bobblehead on my desk here at work–the one where he’s holding the O’Brien. I guess I should put it in storage somewhere, until it’s worth something on the collectors’ market.
