  Yes Knight was never put on probation or cited for an NCAA violation, but he should have been. His behavior and treatment of players was indeed a violation of NCAA rules and human rights. There are alot of police,judges, politicians etc, that are not arrested for crimes that they have committed. Knight is no exception. So please do not sanitize knights behavior because of him benefiting from white privilege in the basketball coaching world. Knight is no role model for how a basketball coach should conduct himself. Here is a man who thought that he was and is bigger than the university that he coached/worked for. I thought it was a team sport?

  Just because a rule is a rule doesn’t make it right. Anyone want to bet Bobby Knight coaches this team next year? The NCAA and IU’s brass are a bunch of hypocrites. They kick Davis out of town, now Sampson after their best record in at least a decade. Is it possible these “violations” involved Gordon? We won’t hear bout those until he’s retired from the NBA though right?

  It wasn’t just that he broke the rules, he knowingly broke the rules (more than once), and then lied about it when confronted with the evidence. Not good.

  Michael:The violations didn’t involve Gordon (or any player on the current roster),him getting a new Escalade is a pure concidence.Oh and the “violations” were for him calling recruits too much.

  Bobby Knight was a self important A-hole, and probably needed counselling and anger management classes, but he didn’t break the rules and lie about it to NCAA investigators. “The Rules” are paramount in the NCAA’s eyes, and he should have known that. Especially when he was on probation from his time at OU. He has nobody to blame but himself.

  K.B. college BB recruitment is a rough and tumble business. It’s a coaches lifeblood. The NCAA Committee on Infractions cited Kelvin and his staff and Oklahoma as committing 577 impermissible recruitment calls (during blackout periods, etc). Kelvin went and made the same impermissible calls in his new job at Indy. Then, he apparently lied about it when asked. It may not appear as much of a violation, but with restrictions set by the NCAA and followed by other coaches, it gave him a huge advantage in building relationships. No one comes out a winner in this one except perhaps those coaches who follow the rules. Tubby Smith spoke up on behalf of Kelvin and Kelvin’s wife sat with Tubby’s wife at a recent Indy-Minne game.

  I highly doubt Knight coaches this team next season. If I’m not mistaken the president or ad is close to Myles Brand. Xavier or Vandy’s coach would be a nice fit.
