Jim Boylan Thinks He Has Job Security

by Marcel Mutoni

On Saturday night, in a game against the Pacers, Andres Nocioni was pulled after playing less than three minutes and sent to the showers. The reason was because he’d started yelling and cussing at interim coach Jim Boylan.

These types of incidents, coupled with the Bulls’ horrid record, aren’t encouraging signs that Boylan’s future employment with the ballclub is secure.

Jim Boylan, though, is man full of optimism.

”People are writing about that and thinking I have no chance; I don’t agree,” Boylan said of Nocioni’s meltdown on the bench after he was pulled from the loss to Indiana.

”I feel like I’ve done a lot for this organization. I’ve brought a lot to the table, and I’ve handled a lot of situations well. I would think a fair evaluation would be that someone has a chance to have a training camp and get these guys organized and have some authority.”

Boylan can act cool and calm all he wants; his job is about as secure as Mutombo’s birth certificate is legit. I’m pretty sure that I saw his CV floating around Monster.com last week.

Or he could just be content to go the way of past failed Bulls coaches and get paid a lot coaching big college programs.

The entire Bulls organization isn’t secure… But Jim’s probably thinking that they’ll ink him to a fat coaching contract after they free up some cap space when Gordan and Deng leave town.

    Pipe dreams.

Jim Boylan needs to HIRE security.

  • Blinguo

He should hire Christopher “Big Black” Boykin. Do work son!

Uh sure his job is secure and hears the top 5 reasons 1.He has managed to win a game or two to go with all those losses without anyone really seeming to notice 2.His best player yells at him 3.His second best player yells at him. 4.Who else are they going to get they just got rid of a good coach. 5.well i gave you four anyway

Jim, don´t blame Andrés for that, there´s something in the air in Indy that makes the players go crazy. (maybe is something related to Daweed Harrison)

  • Blinguo

Isaiah Thomas has job security for no reason known to man, maybe Jim Boylan bases his tenure on what he’s seeing in NYC? The Bulls didn’t respond well to the Scott Skiles authority, so good luck with that plan.

if the bulls make the playoffs then who knows what can happen

  • jeremy

Thats the problem…they aint gonna make the playoffs…sure, its possible but I dont see it happening…I still say Rick Carilisle is the answer…he is a good coach and the players will surely like him more…they need 2 trade some guys…some of those forwards…they got way 2 many of em…like I said the other day on this website,Im starting 2 think that Ben Gordon aint the answer either…hes not tall enough to guard guys like Kobe and T mac,and hes not a good enough passer to play the point full time…and since they have Kirk Hinrich he cant really play point guard anyway…regardless of what happens they have 2 trade Larry Hughes…hes not helping them at all…14 points a game?Thats not gonna cut it…trading for him was a big mistake…trading away Ben Wallace was an even bigger mistake…that was so dumb…he wasnt the problem…sure, they owed him a lot of money the next few years but jeez,it would be worth it to have a guy thats at least a candidate 4 defensive player of the year every season…time for some of these guys 2 go…it will be interesting to see whats gonna happeen in the near future with this team because they have a lot of talent…they just need to build the pieces around Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas…i think thats the starting point…we will have 2 see what happens next.

Boylan is delusional. I can’t wait to hear Paxson talking after the season is over about the organization’s “plan” for success.

@ tommy- i dont think teams plan for failure- they get more money when people buy tickets-even the Knicks know that.

  • Gaber

@jeremy. i’ve always thought they have too many guards

  • http://www.nba.com hursty

also, does he think he is working for McDonalds as well on the side? I dont see how he can expect to remain a contender for head coach without challenge if the team doesnt make the playoffs or improve on their % win record while he was the interim, still he’ll probably keep his job.

  • Tommy Patron

@ hursty- If you have a sh*tty plan for success you do not get a “pass” from me when you fail.

  • jeremy

@Gaber.Did i not say they need 2 trade Larry Hughes?hes the problem…they gotta get rid of him and maybe Ben Gordon and Luol deng for a good player and a high draft pick…that would be a good plan Tommy Patron.

Chicago need to work out their identity as a ball club and then develop/trade/bathe players accordingly. They get rid of Wallace…but still want to be a defensive unit? Hmm.. nah. They bring in Larry Hughes but still want an energetic, versatile backcourt…hmm.. nah.
