  It is still beyond me that Avery is benching Damp again and again against the Warriors and afterwards complains that they couldn´t get a stop.

  i would much rather see the nuggets and warriors make it. those two can beat any team on any night, the mavericks just stink against good opponents and are good against mediocre taems.

  the west is just way too strong this year. 1-9 all the teams are phenomenal, and with dirk getting injured no one seems to be stepping up when it counts. so the mavs are a good weak team that might miss the playoffs if denver doesn’t make it.

  I think it just ain’t cool to post the same comment again and again especially if it’s that far from reality .
  Dirk had some downs in the last two years but he had a lot of big moments before . Thats something you can’t denie. I think basketball reflects life and it’s rare that you never have been down in your life .

  I think there was a typo in the headline. Shouldn’t it have read “Mavs Will Miss Playoffs, Live on in Infamy”? Sidenote: Have two teams that met in a Finals ever fallen off as fast and as hard as the Mavs and Heat? Should 2006 just be erased from the NBA record books? They are like the opposite of the Celtics and Hornets.

  man, the effects of making the ’06 finals are devastating. miami goes from champions, to 1st round sweep, to putting up 17 fg’s TOTAL in a game while setting humiliating records and having their coach take a literal vacation midseason along with most of the team. the mavs could go from finals chokers, to 67 game winners getting embarassed in the 1st round historic upset, to possibly not making the playoffs!?

  basketball developed since they made the finals 2 years ago but the mavs did not, the kid trade did not help (came too late), mavs are done, an average team now. blame it on avery for not developing a system, misusing dirk and j-ho and cuban for making an awful decision – they should have kept harris.

  the kidd trade was a gamble to begin with. the mavs knew they weren’t going to win a chip as the team was constructed, so they went out and got a future hall of famer. well the gamble didn’t pay off and they lost everything. it happens.
