I hate that man. One of the worst coaches in the league.

If D’Antoni coached them Calderon would be the Steve Nash of the East.

    I like Sam.

Sam is a good coach. He just sucks with subs.

I love Sam..I have a feeling he will be back next season- there is no way that you can say that the Raptors season was Mitchell’s fault..sure it would have helped is he could get on the floor and play some D but I like him as a coach.

in ’05 he got voted the worst coach, in ’06 he got COY…..One of these is wrong, I think we all know which one.

  • Tom Posted: Apr.30 at 12:18 pm
Jess: It might not be all his fault, but he definitely did his part. Refusing to use Kapono, the leagues best 3pt shooter, instead having a Jamario Moon shoot 3′s in his place. Not having a steady rotation of players, so no player is could ever be comfortable and just worry about playing instead of worrying about screwing up………and last but not least his man-crush on TJ ford when this team is clearly much better when Calderon is on the floor…but it’s not Mitchell’s fault, right?

I think Sam’s a good coach, he just needs to have a second star. Calderon should be their starting point, but they need a guy who can *consistently* score the ball from the wing. They don’t have that.

he says some stupid things sometimes.. i know he’s jus being honest and trying to be direct, but he comes off as a prima donna sometimes trying to be a dick to reporters just doing their jobs.. that being said, i think he’s actually an OK coach for this team, and the comments he made in the “exit interview” press conference were actually some of the most responsible and mature thoughts i’ve ever witnessed from Sam..

  • Kevin Posted: Apr.30 at 2:56 pm
PS. i might support the Raptors if i don’t ever have to see TJ insertderogatoryexpletive Ford in a TO uniform ever again… f*ckkkkk that dude, and i feel bad sayin this coz i know he’s gone through a lot of severe injuries in his career.. but he seems like someone who needs a good beatdown just once in his life to reduce the size of his head and allow him to actually use his head (and therefore his physical talents) on and off the basketball court..

  • mamadou n'diaye Posted: Apr.30 at 3:05 pm
So it’s not his fault that they can’t play D, have no set rotation, and come out flat and are always down big after the first quarter? Is this a volunteer job or does he get paid for doing nothing…and where can mamadou apply?

Fun to see a real rough-tough player coach such a soft team. Real fun.

  • pape sow Posted: Apr.30 at 4:07 pm
If Mamadou gets the coaching gig I shotgun starting center

  • MD Posted: Apr.30 at 4:11 pm
Like any other coach would have squeezed more than 41 wins out of this team?…get real people. Sam Mitchell is not the problem.

    eeh

What else would BC say? If D’Antoni gets fired, BC will be on the phone, & Sam will get the axe. Sam is a great motivator (though he sometimes goes right to the edge) & a crap x’s & o’s coach. D’Antoni is good at both. Mitchell isn’t the only problem, but BC would rather have his guy, & Sam never really was.

Ever notice how when the Raptors are winning, Sam Mitchell suddenly gets excited and starts acting like he’s “commanding” his team? But when the Raptors start slightly falling behind, he just sits there, totally silent?

    thesubwayconnection says:

Give the boy court time and watch. If Boobie Gibson can be allowed to put up 4 three point attempts on any given night this guy should be allowed to go for 4-6 a game also. Get the man a coach!
