Coach K Will Continue to Steer USA Basketball

“We won a gold medal, represented our country well, and the question is now where do we go from here and how do we get better?” Krzyzewski said. “How do we make this a much better program and make it fashionable [to play for the USA]. We want people to have an intense desire to play for their country out of high school, college and the NBA. I know the guys who did were ecstatic and a number want to do it again.”

Good for the Us-team. I think he really respects the players and the players respect him. He has done a great job in makin’ it a team instead of individuals playing for themselves!!!!!!

I think a top college dude is better than a pro coach that players have varying relationships with during the season.

    D’antoni :(

“we” might just mean the country and not that he is going to coach, “I’ll help in some capacity in consulting, in whatever they need to do.” he never said as coach, misleading es*n again

Yeah. I think this is a bit of a leap. Should he have said “I” or “they” in place of “we”?

Who the coach is won’t matter as much in the future. The biggest thing lacking in past performances was the attitude of the players, which Coach did a great job of changing. Most high school, college and NBA players would have had at least one eye on the Olympics and would have seen the joy and pride that the players competing displayed. From that alone, the attitude of American basketball has changed and it is again a privelage and an honor to play for your country. This shift in attitude alone will see the USA dominating international play for the next few decades, as top players jump on the bandwagon to chase the glory (and endorsements) which come from winning gold.
