Gallinari, The Sixth Overall Pick, Could Be Headed To NBDL

The Knicks may send Danilo packing for Reno very soon, and it’s exactly the right move — absolutely no harm in doing it.

I knew it was a favouritism pick, Mike D’Antoni “but please Donnie, I used to room with his Dad, we played cards and everything, aww go on, please????”

    • Simone S.Y Lawy Posted: Oct.18 at 9:05 am
      another millicic… (y’all know what i mean)

    • WhaHuh Posted: Oct.18 at 9:07 am
D’Antoni is useless with rookies, always has been. Did they play him in any preseason games? they only played Ewing jr 10 mins in one game

The whole Knicks organization is pathetic.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Oct.18 at 9:39 am
More teams should use the D-League. It’s a good idea. It’s not anything against Gallinari’s talents, just recognition that he could benefit from playing real basketball instead of just practicing. And WhaHuh, Gallinari has been injured throughout the entire preseason.

      Seventh…awesome!!!

    • Ty Posted: Oct.18 at 9:50 am
Eighth. It worked out for Amir Johnson for Detroit. I live in Michigan and word has it he will start this season. But I think Simone is right…Darko Jr. Are we done with the “first” thing?

      @ SIM0NE
I GET IT S00N GALLINARI WILL BE IN MEPHIS 0R W/ THE THUNDER

I still wonder why we didn’t select Brook Lopez over Gallinari, especially considering the never-ending decline of Eddy Curry.

Agree with Russ. The D-League was put in place to serve as a feeder system to the NBA. Rumor has it, Harlem will have a franchise in 2 years–’if’ the economy turns around.

I’m not buying the Darko Jr. call. For one thing, I doubt that there were any players of the Melo/Bosh/Wade calibre left on the board…Prove me wrong Lopez twins.

    • niQ Posted: Oct.18 at 4:31 pm
that is hilarious. what a waste of a pick. should’ve drafted bayless or gordon.

    • Yknot Posted: Oct.18 at 5:14 pm
@Russ name 1 top pick who benefitted from the NBDL? If my man Shannon Brown goes there averages 20 something a game and still can’t get on then what’s the use?

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.18 at 6:13 pm
WHY IN THE BLUE HELL DID OUR KNICKS PICK THIS GUY OVER BAYLESS AND GORDON?….. WHY!?!

    • tinchek Posted: Oct.18 at 6:19 pm
      can you say…BUST??

    • TADOne Posted: Oct.18 at 6:40 pm
It’s the route the Pistons took with Amir Johnson and it seems to be paying off now.

    • Z Posted: Oct.18 at 7:07 pm
You guys are quick to dismiss the kid… Slow the eff down, the kid hasn’t played a meaningful game yet. Damn, just look at Dirk when he got to Dallas and where is at right now…

    • BETCATS Posted: Oct.18 at 7:42 pm
Poor Knicks. Even with Isiah gone, they cant catch a break. They got a pass first point guard finally in Chris Duhon, BUT he would be a reserve on any other team in the L. He is talented, but not starting lineup talented. As for DINOsaur Gallinari, he has potential to be very good, but why did the Knicks settle on somebody who will just be very good? The answer, because Dino’s pops and coach D’Antioni go way back. Isiah Thomas was a horrible GM and a decent coach, but even with all his fu(k ups, he was still scapegoated for the Knicks failures. One day NYC will rise agian, and i will be happy for their fans. But until then, they weep.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.18 at 7:50 pm
@ BETCATS: Duhon will work out fine for us.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Oct.18 at 7:52 pm
@ Z: Maybe we’re pissed because we coulda had Eric Gordon man… The kid who schooled up both of Michael Jordan’s kids, in front of Michael Jordan. Between him and Gallinari, its virtually no contest. D’Antoni may be what the Knicks need as a coach, but f*ck, what a stupid pick.

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Oct.18 at 11:12 pm
I love that people are writing Gallinari off already. Love it.

    • Joe_6Pack Posted: Oct.19 at 12:26 am
You mean to tell me that they wasted a first round pick on some guy who is not even good enough to com off the bench? what type of $hit is this? didn’t they have the sense to make a decent pick and they wanna blame Isiah for everything we’ll see how this seanson pans out.

    • Sdfigits Posted: Oct.19 at 2:50 pm
Ahhh the sweet song of New York fans, something tells me the knicks irrelevancy might be karmic

    • chintao Posted: Oct.20 at 5:00 am
@ Russ ==> Disc injuries are pretty tough. It could be nothing, or it could be that DG will never be the same. I can’t blame people for being upset about this thing, though. With Danilo out even before the season begins and likely to be assigned to the D-League, it looks like Donnie fu(ked a monkey (unt on draft day.

    • chintao Posted: Oct.22 at 2:29 am
Apparently, D’Antoni is backing off the D-League idead for Gallnari: http://weblogs.newsday.com/sports/basketball/nba/blog/2008/10/gallinari_to_dleague_not_reall.html
