Greg Oden: Out 2 to 4 Weeks

by Marcel Mutoni

So, Oden heard back from the doctors about his opening night foot injury, and it looks like the G.O. era in Portland will be delayed for some time, yet again:

Greg Oden has a mid-lateral right foot sprain.

The MRI revealed a couple of avulsions that are not believed serious and do not require surgery. Oden is expected to be out 2-4 weeks.

That sucks, obviously, but it could’ve been worse (much worse).

More on the situation tomorrow…

    That man can’t catch a break…

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Oct.29 at 11:13 pm
No, he catches a lot of breaks. And sprains, and twists…

Oden saw the first 8 games he had to play this season and wanted no part of it. Smart move.

    Derrick Rose R.O.Y…..

…I can say this all season. This is a dud pick.

i just hope this doesn’t turn into another Sam Bowie incident for the Blazers. I think Oden can be a really good player if he stays healthy.

why do i get this gut feeling that oden will have an injury ridden career in the nba? maybe it’s bcuz he looks like he’s been in the L for 26 years….

  • niQ Posted: Oct.30 at 12:57 am
i have nothing to say except.. LOL

I’m a HUGE fan, so it’s Horrible for me to see his career start off the way it has. On a side note: Doesn’t it seem like Charles Barkley always has something negative to say about (almost) all of todays NBA players & teams?? And maybe…. Oden REALLY is as old as he looks……

Well one thing’s for sure, we’re on into season 2 and the debate between who was the better choice – Oden vs. Durant is ovah. Done finito kaput

Does anyone actually think Oden will play more than 50 games in any given season at any point in his career..? I dunno, he seems to epitomize the dreaded term “injury-prone”.

i just hope he comes back to kick ass and make up for the lost time. the blazers need him to grow into a contender

  • [...] The big fella projects to miss 2-4 weeks due to this latest setback. The moans coming from the ghosts of Bill Walton and Sam Bowie just reached a deafening, shrill pitch in the halls of the Rose Garden. There is at least one piece of good news out of all this, for the rest of us, though. Since he notched a game played this season, at least we won’t have to hear every pundit next pre-season saying, “You know what, Bob, Greg Oden is actually still eligible for the Rookie Of The Year.” Oh the simple pleasures. [...]

Oden will NOT be a Sam Bowie b/c Bowie was not just always injured his game was weak also. He NEVER didanything in college butt was drafted for “potential”. Barkley sounds negetive but he mostly speaks the truth about the players and teams. I do think Oden has the Portland injury syndrome with injuries, Hopefully he doesn’t get the Bill Walton syndrome. I too hope that he recovers and can come back at full strength and stay away from injuries so we can witness what he can do. He looks like the real deal but we’ll have to see.

  • Roy Posted: Oct.30 at 11:06 am
that’s just not good for portland right now….

  • henryjkim Posted: Oct.30 at 12:34 pm
i guess the hardcore blazer fans will have to keep waiting to see what he really can do.

  • Jason Castro Posted: Oct.30 at 2:48 pm
