The two have talked extensively about pooling their (considerable) resources to buy the Orlando Magic after retirement.

    Why the magic?

  • Orlando Green Posted: Oct.22 at 12:33 pm
both familiar with the organization and the area I guess….+ warm weather…

  • Nguni Posted: Oct.22 at 12:34 pm
i wonder if shaq is making this stuff up bout hill just to be in the news.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Oct.22 at 12:38 pm
I’m puzzled as to why anyone would be puzzled by this. Rich guys need stuff to spend their money on. They are players, so they would know how to make an organization player-friendly. They both played for this team. It’d give Shaq a chance to keep getting rings (so he can stay ahead of Kobe, if nothing else), and give Grant a chance to finally get one ring. Isn’t this the most obvious thing in the world?

i agree with ryan but around here i think i have to say co-sign Ryan or some such

they have both been talking about being part of the magic organization after playing for a while. but they both left us magic fans with bad tastes in our mouths, i wonder if they would even be accepted back.

Shaq is spreading himself awfully thin. Then again, thin has never been a problem for him.

  • Jake Posted: Oct.22 at 12:54 pm
Scottie Pippen and Michael Jordan need to buy the Bulls….

  • mat smith Posted: Oct.22 at 1:01 pm
they were talking bout this in a suns dot com vid last year

  • Ryne Nelson Posted: Oct.22 at 1:06 pm
@Nguni: Hill is quoted in the story as well…and I’m sure Shaq’s not worried about getting in the news.

Shaq would be better off owning a couple of fast-food franchises

  • chiqo Posted: Oct.22 at 1:18 pm
shaq doesn’t do anything thin. and to paraphrase chris rock: shaq is rich. the guy who pays shaq is wealthy. if you could put yourself in the position to take care of your kids’ kids’ kids, why wouldn’t you?

    This was news last year.

  • underdog Posted: Oct.22 at 1:43 pm
Shaq should be the mascot of the Magic after retirement.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Oct.22 at 1:45 pm
Thanks Michael, but we prefer, “Yo, word to what my homie Ry-Dizzle sez.”

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Oct.22 at 1:45 pm
Krazy Mad Moves, is my point.

  • Mo Charlo Posted: Oct.22 at 1:48 pm
Correct me if I’m wrong, but this isn’t the first time I’ve heard either of these guys talk about owning, or at least being a front-office type for a franchise.

  • Mo Charlo Posted: Oct.22 at 1:49 pm
and word to what my homie Ry-Dizzle sez.

  • Yknot Posted: Oct.22 at 1:51 pm
Why don’t thet take the Bobcats off Bob Johnsons hands?

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Oct.22 at 2:23 pm
    Yurd!?

  • Tarzan Cooper Posted: Oct.22 at 2:49 pm
    Que?

  • the baconator Posted: Oct.22 at 2:56 pm
Brilliant idea: why don’t Hill and Shaq pool the money to revive the Sonics again? They can both own it, or one can be GM while the other coaches. Perfect, right?

  • B. Long Posted: Oct.22 at 3:11 pm
Shaq owning an NBA franchise=worse idea ever.

  • Anton Posted: Oct.22 at 3:50 pm
Great, they’ll change the Magic logo to a picture of Kob next to an ass

  • mike Posted: Oct.22 at 4:28 pm
they’ll probably have to rely on grant hill’s duke education to make this work

  • what Posted: Oct.22 at 5:27 pm
So this means that there are people who actually want to pay Rashard Lewis’s salary?

  • LA Huey Posted: Oct.22 at 5:57 pm
If this actually happens, I’d eagerly await the first time a player demands more money….during a preseason game.

  • David Posted: Oct.22 at 7:34 pm
Shaq as a gm would be an interesting experiment. Every time he’s changed teams, hasn’t he said it’s the most talented team he’s ever been with? I think the Magic front office is working pretty well right now so 2010 might be too soon to change everything around, anyway.

  • chintao Posted: Oct.22 at 11:18 pm
@ mike ==> Grant’s education can’t have been to good, if he’s thinking about getting into business with Shaquita.

  • chintao Posted: Oct.22 at 11:22 pm
Aside from Grant and Shaq’s familiarity with the Magic, they might be considering Orlando because there may be certain tax advantages.

  • Bostwik Posted: Oct.23 at 7:11 am
change the name to the orlando deep breathers
