Speaking of Injuries: T-Mac Uncertain for Start of the Season

T-Mac’s tone hasn’t changed since the start of the preseason. He’s still talking about those nagging injuries. And now with the season opener just around the corner, McGrady doesn’t sound as though he’ll be ready to go when the lights come on for real.

From the Houston Chronicle:

What’s most important is to be healthy toward the end of the season,” McGrady said after Saturday’s workout. “If I’m not ready to go in the first couple of games, then that’s just the way it is.”

“This is something you can’t rush. I would like to be out there with my team come the 29th. But, you know, if things don’t go right, then I can’t be out there.”

Of course, Tracy is right. Better to rest up now and fully recover from offseason knee and shoulder surgeries.

Rockets fans can only hope the fact that their superstar barely saw the floor during the preseason, isn’t an indicator of things to come the rest of the way.

    everyone quit hating on this man. the only acceptable thing to make fun of is when he said it felt good to be in the second round. to be fair, that was the first year the first round was expanded. he had absolutely no help in orlando, got jobbed by the refs against dallas one year, the other he had a hell of a game 7 but the rest of the rockets sucked. you cannot blame him.

    He still punked Bill Walker and Eddie House easy….BTW comparing TMac to Vince is stupid. He has repeatedly hurt himself just because he keeps coming back from injuries early. The only time he acted like Vince was in Orlando when they won like 16 games, and he had a good reason too.

    i cud b wrong, bt i think jolst was refering to that ‘funny’ comment when T-mac said you should blame everything on him. T-Mac will be aight. He has all the help he needs now to win a chip. IF they r all healthy at the end of the year, they gon’ win the chip. i said it here, remember that!

    i’ve always complained about tmac and his workouts…the fact that he has slight scoliosis could possibly be the reason for his poor form during hiw workouts, which i believe are what are wearing him down. I forgot he had that condition until he mentioned it again this week..

    I’m not trying to knock T-Mac (he’d probably suffer some freak injury if I did), but some people are just too fragile for the NBA game. Unfortunately, too many of those people are in Houston Rockets jerseys right now. At this point, it looks like having everyone on the Rockets healthy enough to play at one time is probably like a six-sigma event.

    Has everyone forgotten about that little win streak the rockets pulled out of their sleeve last season? T-mac should take his time to get healthy, and trust his team. They’ve got Ron now too. The rockets can ball even when t-mac isn’t playing. (of course they are better with him, I’m just saying, let him take his time to get fully healthy again)

    Ron Ron should take some of the PT off of T-Mac’s shoulders, which should lighten his load on his maybe fragile body. The Rocket’s window is open, for at least 2 years in my opinion. BUT!!! I do reckon T-Mac will retire before Nash. Enjoy it whilst it lasts Rocket’s fans, fingers crossed for a 3peat. I on the other hand am a Kings fan, all I have to look forward to is a 11th place finish, and a move to Las Vegas.

    The Rockets only need one star to win. Remember last year’s streak, WITHOUT YAO. Artest and Barry can easily carry the Rockets if needs be. Artest’s D should also take some pressure off T-Mac
