Mavs Aren’t Playing Hard Enough, Says Dirk

Following a loss to the lowly Clips last night, Nowitzki was none too pleased with his team’s effort: “We’ve got to compete,” Nowitzki said. “That’s on the players, on every single one of us. We’ve got to cut harder. We’ve got to defend harder. We’ve got to rebound hard. I just think we’re coasting too much right now. We’re not good enough to coast, as you saw tonight.”

It’s not your team s fault dirk. It’s yours.

    • TADOne Posted: Nov.10 at 11:13 am
      Too easy.

I know one thing: Don’t blame it on Kidd. Dude had a great week. Gerald Green is playing pretty good too.

dirk is the worst MVP award winner in the history of the league!! He plays no d. Has no post game whatsoever! DO they actually expect this team to win? Jason kidd?? he was great but those days are gone.

    • BETCATS Posted: Nov.10 at 11:23 am
I hate dirk, but him showing leadership for a change is not a time i will bash him and his non clutch ways

    • Stewie Griffin Posted: Nov.10 at 11:23 am
Dirk blaming others for not playing hard enough? You gotta be kiddin’ me!

    • kev Posted: Nov.10 at 11:25 am
and please sop trying to lead through the media. If you want your guys to play hard, talk to them face to face. Saying it to reporters and hoping the right guy’s get the message is a girly move.

“Down the yellow brick road we go!” I’m the first to admit when I’m right.

    • NrSixteen Posted: Nov.10 at 11:48 am
but you have to admit he s a great player. Just not as a go-to-guy.

    • mogdog Posted: Nov.10 at 11:51 am
      Stop hating on DIRK!

kev, have you seen Kidd play (no pun intended) this season? He’s not the Kidd of 2002, but he’s shooting well (FG: 47%, 3pt: 44%), scoring 10.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg, and 8.8 apg while averaging 35 mpg. Again, I’m not saying he’s still the best in the game, all I’m saying is: stop hatin’ on Kidd, because he’s playing pretty good so far. He’s one of the few Mavs out there showing effort.

    • NB Posted: Nov.10 at 12:46 pm
Most of the people commenting on this post obviously do not watch the Mavs play. He is not soft. He does play defense (not the greatest) and he does have post moves. If he would play that way everyone would want him to play, he would not be any good. He is still a top ten player in the leauge, and I’m sure there’s plenty of teams who would want him if he were to be traded. It is not his fault the Mavs suck right now. It is Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, Dampier, Diop, and to some extent Josh Howard. And Rick Carlise for refusing to play his bench when clearly Stack is not producing.

Dirk is a glorified role-player. He’s a tall Steve Kerr. Dallas fans have been brainwashed by Cubes to think that he didn’t make a poor decision when he had to choose between him and Nash. Sorry, but thems the breaks.

    • Nick Fleming Posted: Nov.10 at 1:11 pm
Mo, how many times has Steve Nash led the Suns to the NBA Finals? I will admit as a Mavs fan I am completely and totally biased towards the Big German, but hate on Dirk when he is blowin it. Last time i checked 25 and 8 a night while shooting 90% from the line almost 50% from the field and 40% from 3 is not blowin it.

    • Mo Charlo Posted: Nov.10 at 1:17 pm
I would also like to take this opportunity to point out that Avery tried to call Dirk out to make him more of a leader, which Dirk declined, and that was the beginning of Avery’s ouster. Dallas, welcome to the lottery.

Dirk blaming others for not playing hard enough? You gotta be kiddin’ me!
Nowitzki said. “That’s on the players, on every single one of US . WE ’ve got to cut harder. WE ’ve got to defend harder. WE ’ve got to rebound hard. I just think WE ’re coasting too much right now. ´WE ’re not good enough to coast, as you saw tonight.’’
Dirk didn’t point his fingers on the others he just said what was wrong with the whole team

    • speedy Posted: Nov.10 at 2:55 pm
@ Mo Charlo Glorified… role player ….?????? It’s a hard decision between him and nash that should never had been made because togeteher they would have been even better.
But how in the world can’t you see his talent .
I’m still laughing about your comment

    • Kevin Wilson Posted: Nov.10 at 2:59 pm
Dirk’s stepping up as a leader. The Mavs are now ready to win the 2006 NBA Finals.

    • B. Long Posted: Nov.10 at 3:07 pm
This ones for Khalid since I hurt his feelings with a Sixers comment earlier-Dirk Sucks.

    • speedy Posted: Nov.10 at 3:13 pm
Yeah B.Long and now you are sucking Khalid’s ….

    • Jukai Posted: Nov.10 at 3:20 pm
Dirk has to start jacking up more shots

    • witness Posted: Nov.10 at 3:44 pm
dirk isnt playing hard enough, says the mavs

    • B. Long Posted: Nov.10 at 4:26 pm
I use nacho cheese to catch mexican rats, it always works no matter how fast they are.

    • Moose Posted: Nov.10 at 4:32 pm
They just can’t play as hard as you want them to, Dirk, cause wheelchairs don’t run too well on basketball courts.

    • john Posted: Nov.10 at 5:06 pm
ya the mavs got the lakers next even though the lakers are going to kill them like they did the rockets last night.

    • speedy Posted: Nov.10 at 5:22 pm
      Mexican?????Rat?????Fast?????

    • Double R Posted: Nov.10 at 7:11 pm
But at least they have “freedom” now that Avery’s gone.

    • thesubwayconnection Posted: Nov.10 at 7:14 pm
Kidd has PEAK’d. (I couldn’t help myself) This team needs some help. I love Brandon Bass off the bench, but they need a low post threat all the time.

    • MeloMan13 Posted: Nov.10 at 7:19 pm
This is exactly why i want the raptors to trade bargnani. if he is supposed to be the next Dirk, i don;t want any part of it and the raptors dont need it

    • Darksaber Posted: Nov.10 at 8:47 pm
Dirk hating on Slamonline is like Phil shaving to look hotter for the Buss daughter. Pointless. (she’s not into you for the looks Phil)! So all you so called Basketball “fans” who like to bash him, but glorify the “high flying” superathletes like, oh let’s say, Melo-no-guts, he’s done his, served his due, and that’s more than most of us here can say. Now, please, all of ya, go jump UNDER the Nuggets or Pistons Bandwagon already. Thank you.

    • chintao Posted: Nov.10 at 10:50 pm
Sorry, Darksaber. The Mavs are heading into a rebuilding phase, and that rebuilding will not include Dirk. The best they can hope for is to trade Nowitzki for some draft picks. Hey, maybe Dirk can get a Ring if he lands on a contender, like Detroit!

That’s like BETCATS saying to his friends that they are not straight enough. Its just completely hypocritical.

    • jaywhy Posted: Nov.11 at 7:00 am
      dirk for shaq

    • Manumaniac Posted: Nov.11 at 8:00 am
I have a suggestion to make: what if the Mavs trade Josh Howard& Jerry Stackhouse for Manu Ginobili? Wouldn’ t that make them more agressive as a team? I mean, Manu is a natural born leader and scorer, an All NBA third team selection last year, an experienced player (specifically in the playoffs, where the Mavs usually struggle) and a very competitive guy. I believe that he could bring much to them and help Dirk. What do you think of that?

    • Darksaber Posted: Nov.11 at 9:31 am
      Gaz=DAMN, SON.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Nov.11 at 1:11 pm
Baron Davis loves to ruin Dirk Nowitzki’s mood.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Nov.11 at 1:14 pm
Also, chintao is a ret@rd. Seriously, he says some really stupid sh!t.

    • chintao Posted: Nov.11 at 8:49 pm
^Hmmm. So, you disagree? On what basis?
