D-Wade Has Changed His Mind on Point Guard Duties

    by Marcel Mutoni

Less than a month after the 2008 season came to a close, D-Wade asked his team to bring in someone who could be trusted with the initiation of the Heat offense. Four games into this year, and Wade seems to be changing his mind.

Prior to beating the Sixers at home last night, Dwyane and his coach discussed his (preferred) role in the offense.

    From the Sun-Sentinel:

“It’s not something I want to do,” Spoelstra said. “To have him bring up the ball all the time, but that is one of his strengths. Particularly on misses, we have to get to a game where, I don’t know what percentage of time he has to bring it up, but that’s where he can be at his best, in the open court, with pick and rolls.”

“It’s just having the ball in my hands a little more to do more things,” Wade said. “A lot of it had to do with me, as well, just having more patience.”

You’re confusing everyone, D-Wade. Gotta figure out what you want in life and stick to it.

he’s best with the ball in his hands- pick and rolls could become his bread and butter

As evidenced last night, I counted on one hand how many times Dwyane brought the ball up to set the offense, he just got the ball in good spots and capitalized.

      yepp. that’s what i thought.

He came into the season with his expectations a little too high. He’ll be alright. He’s got some young cats that will improve and a couple of seasons to figute out if he wants to stay in Fla.

      *figure*

Confusion indeed. We’ll see where it goes from here.

Playing the pick n roll doesn’t mean that you have to bring it up. The high screen for Bron when Cleveland goes 1-4 high seems to be their only play!

    • what Posted: Nov.6 at 11:56 am
That’s pretty much been their only play since Mike Brown got there.

    • Nguni Posted: Nov.6 at 12:04 pm
      mike brown sucks

    • Carl Posted: Nov.6 at 12:06 pm
I think it’s a good idea at this point, he can lead the league in assist’s and still average 20+ points per. I’d like to see Mike Beasley get more touches too…..

    • Yknot Posted: Nov.6 at 12:42 pm
No, chris quinn and mario chalmers suck.

What does Lebron have to do with anything? Morons

    • Gerard Himself Posted: Nov.6 at 1:04 pm
Chalmers sucks Yknot? And judged that how exactly?

    • Gerard Himself Posted: Nov.6 at 1:08 pm
by the way: Eboy mentioned Chalmers had 9 steals the other night. Not bad.

    • Eboy Posted: Nov.6 at 1:09 pm
      9 steals last night.

    • ranrice Posted: Nov.6 at 2:02 pm
      & 9 steals doesn’t suck

    • ciolkstar Posted: Nov.6 at 2:05 pm
Uh…Please fgure it out next week DWade. He’s on my opponent’s fantasy team this week, and he absolutely killed it last night.
Chalmers could be a real player in this league as well, but he’s still not as good of a ballhndler and passer as Wade.

dwyane wade should be their point guard. he is an amazing player who can create for everybody including himself off the dribble. its whats best for the team.

    • NBA-JERSEY-KING Posted: Nov.6 at 3:48 pm
just trade Marion for a good center and some backs ups.

    • witness Posted: Nov.6 at 3:58 pm
@ NBA-JERSEY-KING: dont you think if they could do that they would? marion is good but nodoy wants an undersized-overpaid player. the need to trade haslem for somebody like brad miller.

    • what Posted: Nov.6 at 4:16 pm
9 steals is just insane. The Sixers should be embarrassed.

    • youngmuggsy Posted: Nov.6 at 5:45 pm
      I smell turnovers.

    • ab_40 Posted: Nov.6 at 7:00 pm
one way or another he’ll lead the nba in turnovers this season. Look he’s a great player amazing at times but he isn’t a guy who should be trusted with PG duties he can take his guy of the dribble and score against well everybody but setting up an offense is not his game.

    • NBA-JERSEY-KING Posted: Nov.6 at 11:11 pm
witness… well Im sure they will but its about getting the right pieces in return. Sacramento could use Marion and we could use Brad Miller

    • Angelino Posted: Nov.7 at 12:40 am
Mario is just fine and dandy.

    • oliver Posted: Nov.7 at 10:00 am
Marion for Brad Miller? surely you can get more for Marion than Brad Miller….

    • NBK Posted: Nov.7 at 2:12 pm
Marion for Boozer is the only trade that makes sense for Miami in the whole L.

    • NBK Posted: Nov.7 at 2:28 pm
or maybe marion for stephen jackson and al harrington but i doubt GS would give up their captain for someone who will bolt as soon as he gets the opportunity

    • Miguel Ferreira Posted: Nov.7 at 8:43 pm
D Wade can do it all!

    • baller Posted: Nov.8 at 3:43 pm
      dwade#!

    • Yassi Posted: Nov.9 at 7:33 am
where is J-Dub when you need him :-(

    • RedRum Posted: Nov.10 at 7:47 am
The solution for the Heat would have been to either have won the lottery or Bulls got beasley… Now Heat has overcrowded frontcourt with Marion and Beasley, and no one to bring the ball up… they need a pg…
