Josh Smith Out A Minimum Of Two Weeks

As the Hawks continued their stellar play against the Raptors, Josh Smith came down on Zaza Pachulia’s foot after trying to block a shot. J-Smoove suffered a sprained left ankle and will need two to four weeks to recover.

damn he was gna be an all star this year… at least they won

  • Myung Posted: Nov.7 at 10:04 pm
I’m not his biggest fan (mainly his offensive skills) as long time SLAMonline readers know, but I still respect how hard he plays and what he brings to the team. I feel bad for him and wish him a quick recovery. I hate to see this happen, just as we started off 4-0. I think we can get the win Sunday to go to 5-0, but the upcoming road games after that will be much tougher. It’s still mind blowing that we blew out the Raps by 20 tonight (w/o Josh) and that we have 4 wins out of 4 against Playoff teams. Pinch me.

    Dammit Zaza.

  • Myung Posted: Nov.7 at 11:45 pm
How about we pick up McDyess in the meantime?

    Daaaamn, daaaamn, daaaamn, daaaaang….

  • what Posted: Nov.8 at 1:35 am
I’d love the McDyess pickup regardless of whether Josh was healthy or hurt, although I don’t know if he’d necessarily want to come here

I was glad to see the Hawks pick it up without Josh today, but I’m not sure if they can sustain their level of defense against other teams without him

=( hopes J-Smoove has a smooth recovery and come back stronger… he’s not really impressing me this season anw…

chillout myung, u guys won by 7

  • Myung Posted: Nov.8 at 11:39 am
You talking about the Philly game, Melo (why are you talking about that game anyway… that was a week ago)? And if you are talking about that game, we were down by 23 at one point so I’d say winning by 7 was a good enough margin of victory. That was also our smallest margin of victory so far this season. And considering our best season in the past 9 years was last year (when we won 37 games), I’d say we’re a little entitled to be a little overjoyed. Like I wrote in another post 2 days ago on the site, we started 4-1 two years ago and finished with 30 wins so I’m trying to stay level headed about this 4-0 start, but we (Hawks fans) have endured two consecutive rebuilding phases in the past decade. Let us enjoy our moment in the sun, if the rest of you hoops fans don’t mind.

Lang silently weeps as Starbury (the dog) looks on in a state oe bewilderment.

  • Lang Whitaker Posted: Nov.8 at 1:25 pm
No weeping. We’ll hang in there without Smoove for the time being. Time for the Solomon Jones show…

  • DD Posted: Nov.8 at 2:13 pm
hawks are screwed, w/o smith and now w/o childress they only have two players that can score consitently: joe and bibby, and bibby is on a decline so really they only have one guy.

The Solomon Jones show is gonna be an absolute disaster. Somehow, I think Zaza planned this so he could get back into the starting lineup. Something about him is fishy, besides the name.

My fantasy team is going to suffer.

  • ab_40 Posted: Nov.9 at 3:15 pm
Marvin Williams better step his game up. we know al horford is gonna step up his

  • e.m. Posted: Nov.9 at 6:53 pm
it really is a shame, just as the hawks are picking up. josh smith is one of the hardest workers out there, progressing from a raw prospect with monstrous vertical to a much more well-rounded athlete that has extended his range out to the 3 point line. hopefully his recovery is fast and he returns to form swiftly

  • Myung Posted: Nov.9 at 9:36 pm
We’re 5-0 (possibly most impressive is that we’re 3-0 on the road). We’re 2-0 without Josh Smith. Of course now we’ve got a tough set of 3 straight road games coming up this week (and though this has nothing to do with basketball, the Falcons, like the Hawks, are also making life as an Atlanta sports fan pretty lovely lately).
