No MRI, T-Mac ‘Hopeful’

“Right now, (playing tonight) is not ruled out,” McGrady said. “I have to talk to coach (Rick Adelman) and the trainers, maybe even monitor my minutes more. I could play. We just have to come out with some sort of solution.”

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.19 at 10:42 am
I really hope his lower leg just doesn’t completely fall off tonight but I’m not getting my hopes up. Is there like a curse on guards who spend any time in Orlando? Penny, Grant, Steve Francis, and T-mac. It’s where fun to watch guards careers go to die.

  • Roy Posted: Nov.19 at 10:47 am
Wow. Good observation on the former guards who played for Orlando since Penny Hardaway, B. Long. :D

  • Yknot Posted: Nov.19 at 11:00 am
And Tmac is qualified to make these kinds of medical decisions cause he slept at a holiday inn last night. What is he the Shawn Merriman of the NBA?

  • Simon S.Y Lawy Posted: Nov.19 at 11:17 am
    wow for B.Long…

  • Crook Posted: Nov.19 at 11:31 am
i told you that TMac would be injured again b4 long… When his career is over (sooner than later) He will be one of those players that people say “if he didn’t get hurt so often he would have been one of the greatest to ever play. Don’t be fooled, the guy is more athletic than talented. I love to watch him play but he is too busy pushing people than defending them…

    T-mac injured…..what else is new..?

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 12:00 pm
jukai, he’s still probably going to shoot 2 for 12

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.19 at 12:02 pm
Damn, even RV has given up on his boy. Harsh.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 12:11 pm
i’ve given up on his rehab process. Just wait until Kobe’s finger falls off and you’ll get what i’m sayin’.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.19 at 12:24 pm
The way the Lakers are playing right now(except against Detroit,Damn Pistons) Kobe could play with a hand behind his back and they’d be straight. lol.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 12:24 pm
i think this report war written up before practice completely ended, apparently tmac tweaked felt ok during practice and then tweaked it at the end. He’s still a game time decision, but now he’s less likely to play or will play very little.

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Nov.19 at 12:25 pm
Tracy should get an MRI machine in his house.

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.19 at 12:52 pm
    hahahah@Russ

  • Simon S.Y Lawy Posted: Nov.19 at 12:54 pm
may i say t-mac is done…sorry for rockets fan.

  • riggs Posted: Nov.19 at 1:09 pm
cot damn man, if u said youre knee shut down on you and youre shutting EVERYTHING down til youre fine, then DO IT. what the hell is up with houstons trainers?

  • NBK Posted: Nov.19 at 1:15 pm
This is a perfect example of why Gilbert Arenas is doing the right thing by sitting out

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 1:39 pm
riggs, i dont think its the trainers’ fault, they can only give their medical opinion , if a player wants to play at 50% while risking more injury and the coach allows it, then its on the player and coach.

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.19 at 3:02 pm
New stuff on B. Long’s Blog!

  • ciolkstar Posted: Nov.19 at 3:17 pm
I really think he should shut it down for a while and figure out what’s wrong. he seems so brittle right now, trying to play through it is inviting a major injury.

  • ciolkstar Posted: Nov.19 at 3:19 pm
Tmac does more “tweaking” than Timiothy Leary and Jimi Hendrix combined

  • Moose Posted: Nov.19 at 3:43 pm
    Don’t get hurt tonight . . .

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.19 at 4:07 pm
RV: Unless the trainers say it’s okay to play at 50%, then it’s the trainers fault. Dummy.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:24 pm
    …test..

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:25 pm
    i hate wordpress

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:27 pm
great, i can’t respond to jukai anymore unless i dont use the words trainer, play, %, mcgrady, coaches, etc…i hate wordpress..

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:29 pm
maybe at a lower level of play it would be the trainer’s fault, but in The League it means crap, unless you’re talking about something that could kill you.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:31 pm
There’s several injuries someone should not be playing with, but technically ARE able to play with (mechanically). Obviously Mac is able to move enough to play, but he shouldn’t because of the risk involved, which is what a trainer would say.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:35 pm
but that’s just telling the truth, the players are adults who work for a living and make their own decisions when it comes to health, medical staff can’t treat them like kids and look out for their health, mainly because athletes themselves won’t let them, all they can do is give them their opinion, only the player, coach, and possibly the front office have the finals say..

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 4:35 pm
    final*

  • Jukai Posted: Nov.19 at 6:06 pm
RV: what I’m saying is, you don’t know what the trainers are saying. It could be the trainer who is saying, “well he wont be 100% but he certainly wont hurt his leg!” or it may be T-Mac who is saying, “if I can play, I’m going to play!” or it may be the coaches or front office who are pressuring him. You don’t know. Nor does Riggs.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 7:11 pm
Jukai, i know that Tmac himself knows he was going out at only 70% and that he was risking injury, and that he’d be in some pain, i know that because he said it himself prior to the season, and since he’s not a doctor or trainer then i’m assuming he got most of that from the med staff. I also have a pretty good idea of what a trainer would say since I majored in a similar area, and when dealing with body areas that are not 100% and are therefore weaker than they should be, there is ALWAYS a risk of injury.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Nov.19 at 9:09 pm
Phew. I actually think it might be beneficial for T-Mac to sit this one out and rest. Its only the beginning of the season. What’s really important is that we have this guy healthy by April.

  • RV Posted: Nov.19 at 11:49 pm
5 of 14, not quite 2 for 12…but close enough.. the rockets should have just skipped this game, Yao always dominates Dallas, Houston can’t beat dallas without him, and they decided to sit him down tonight.

  • Crook Posted: Nov.20 at 8:18 am
The % is irrelevent b/c he isn’t going to play defense anyway. He will hobble around on the court until he has the ball then magically he will be fine for 3 to 7 seconds in order to get his shot off. If he hits he will smile if he misses he will grimace and limp back on defense. It’s classic athlete behavior.

  • jaywhy Posted: Nov.20 at 9:35 am
MRI or no MRI, they wont make it past the first round… muahahahahaha
