Raptors Enter Al Harrington/Gerald Wallace Sweepstakes

As always, there’s a catch: “The real sticking point is that the player who clubs ask about is inevitably Bargnani, whom Colangelo remains bullish on and who is showing signs of putting last season’s sophomore pratfall behind him.”

first!! yay! im so over joyed with this momentous moment

  • Tom

    Can we trade Sam Mitchell?

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

Bargani would flourish in Don Nelson’s system.

  • Bryant Reeves

If Bargs went to Charlotte, Jordan and Brown would quickly turn him into Kwame part deux.

  • Garrett

Gerald Wallace, Chris Bosh and Jermaine O’Neal in one front court?? That would be epic!

  • http://www.myspace.com/hemantsbeats what

If they are not gonna trade for a real small forward because they want to keep Andrea Bargkwame around, they deserve to lose.

  • Diggy

Gerald Wallace is a good look for T-dot. Defense….

  • James aka the artisst formerly known as Krayzie Bone

Im really negative on Bargnani, but with J O not exactly lighting it up, I would fear losing bosh in 2 years with this team really stinking. I like Gerald better than harrington because he’s a better defender, and we abosultely get killed defensively. The raptors really don’t have any good players on the wing at this point.

It warrants repeating, and I know that Bargnani is popular with the SLAMthletes, but Gerald is a sure thing that cannot be passed up.

  • riggs

f*ck bags, bring G-force to Tdot!!

  • Bro D.

This trade would never work, Bargnani and Ajinca would get into fist fights over who has the better pastries.

  • niQ

okay. i don’t know if harrington would be good on raps.. but gerald wallace would fit PERFECTLY.

Seriously, if Colangelo wants to hold on to Bargs at the expense of getting someone like G Wallace.. Well, that’s just petty. Nobody likes to admit that they messed up on a first pick but c’mon man, you have to see the bigger picture. Moon, Parker, Kapono and Graham has to be the worst foursome at the wings in the L.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Oh and I don’t want Harrington. At all. I put him in the same category as Ricky Davis and Corey Maggette. The guys who put up their best stats in losing efforts.

  • http://thegoodpoint.com Sammy J

There is no dispute that Gerald Wallace would be a great addition to the Raptors starting line up. He’s the offensive attacker/defensive stopper that the Raps hope Jamario Moon can be, without the wait. The comparisons between Bargnani and Kwame Brown however, are highly unwarranted. Anyone who has watched Bargnani play this season, even in his two scoreless outtings, has been witness to great improvement. His ceiling is so high that trading him for Wallace would be like selling your rolex to the pawn shop. Yeah, you might get something decent in return, but it’s not gonna be what you paid for it (the #1 pick) and you are going to regret it for years to come. Trust in Colangelo, he knows what he’s doing.

  • Bryant Reeves

Wallace has a history of concussions, Bargs has a history of being sh!tty. That being said, I think you guys are overrating Wallace. His career numbers are good, but not great, and he’s been on some really bad teams. Trade away Bargs and the Raps are left with a really really thin front court. Can Humphries and Jawai contribute anything other than garbage minutes and practice bodies?

  • http://its-mitch.blogspot.com/ Paps

Package the 4 wings for Wallace?

  • floe

i second that motion, ship mitchells ass outta town already. dude has shown no imagination in the past 5 years.

  • http://www.sonicbids.com/shaemorin doyouwantmore

I almost gave up on Bargnani last year but this year I swear I have a feeling about the guy watching him play. I think he has an intensity and killer instinct now.

Having said that I would have no regrets about trading for G. Wallace.

  • Griffen Spence

    Andrea Bargnani is
    1) SLOW- put him in a fast pace don nelson system and hope he faster.
    2) Out of his comfort zone- lets take him out of the best city in the world were he probably spends most of his days in little italy(toronto) and put him in the hood. I mean bargnani is clearly stuck in the euro league feel.
    3) For fck sakes make the trade for gerald wallace we neeeeeeed it

  • witness

what does BETcat have to say about this?

  • LA Huey

After TJ Ford, should raps really gamble on a guy with a history of injuries to his central nervous system? Wait until something better comes along.

  • http://n/a 007

1 for paps. although 3 would suffice.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Moose

Andrea Bargnani really isn’t that important. Truthfully, he sucks. He has SOME potential, but he really can’t do much.

  • Jess

Bargnani has a lot of potential – bad year last year, but I dont understand why people are so quick to jump on him….Theres no way the Raps are giving up Bargs…no way.

  • MeloMan13

this is only good if we get their first pick aswell
i would jonestly prefer JR smith bcuz we need better scoring from the wings
    mitchell needs to stay though

  • Brar

but i dont want harrington even though his contract would give Toronto alot of cap space in 2010. Bosh really wants to win this season and we have to keep him happy so he doesnt leave in 2010.. And WHo the hell wouldnt wanna leave a place where its -20 degrees celcius during the season.

  • http://twentythreenine.blogspot.com Russ Bengtson

    I love the word “pratfall”.

  • http://www.garrettelliott.com Garrett

Who knew Bargnani had so many fans? I’d say do the trade if Gerald didn’t miss 50 games a year due to injury. At least Bargnani will suit up.

  • Quail

yea, i cant see Bargnani playin for the bobcats. i can see him playin for the warriors tho. trade bargs and a 2nd round draft pick for harrington. that would sound fair to me.

  • http://twentythreenine.blogspot.com Russ Bengtson

If Jordan traded Wallace for Bargnani, that would pretty much cement his legacy as the worst GM ever (non-Ted Stepien division).

  • http://www.freewebs.com/betcats BETCATS

I co-sign russ, but Rod Higgins is the GM last time i checked.

  • http://www.freewebs.com/betcats BETCATS

Gerald wont be going anywhere. If he does, we need a great big man+a draft pick to keep me from comminting fan sucide and buying a thunder jersey.

  • http://www.freewebs.com/betcats BETCATS

i found this on sporting news.com “Charlotte gets: Eddy Curry, David Lee; Golden State gets: Gerald Wallace; New York gets: Al Harrington” I would be fine with that because A: David Lee is a natural born hustler and we need a good power forward
B: Fat looks great in orange, a Eddy Curry/Sean May possible front court could only be matched by a Jerome James/Fredrick Weis one. Matchup for the ages!

  • http://www.freewebs.com/betcats BETCATS

oh and note to Micheal Jordan: DO NOT TRADE ADAM MORRISON

  • Jigga_wattz

I’m shocked at how few seem to truly know anything about basketball. Your eagerness to give away a 7 foot 23 YR old that can shoot the lights out and is only getting better astounds me. Everyone has a right to their own opinion, YES… but i feel strongly that if you really know basketball – you can see the potential that Bargnani has is incredible.

  • http://nbaukfan.blogspot.com/ mat smith

Bargani would flourish in a garden

  • ahmed

toronto raptors need banani as thir center if they get gerald wallas they dont need to trade no one because gerald walas contract will get exspierd and raps can sigh him
