Sheed has been hooked up the AI rejuvenation machine and it feels good.
When you think about it, it makes sense.
Sheed is a big who can shoot jumpers, understands spacing and can defend. Sometimes he even rebounds. That is the skill set you need to play with Iverson.
In addition, Iverson means that the Pistons no longer have to run their offense through Sheed, a position he was never comfortable in during his career. It also gives them a much more dangerous option than Richard Hamilton, whose ability to score off jumpers is great, but doesn’t cause the same problems that penetration causes.
Bottom line, Pistons used to work outside in, now they work inside out.
You are absolutely right. When Billups was there, he was shooting the shots Sheed is taking now. They didn’t need Sheed to shoot threes, they needed him bruise down low. Sheed does not want to do that on a consistent basis, he never has.
Iverson has never complained about other people shooting. He knows he’s going to get his shots up, so he doens’t get pissed. Plus, Iverson doesn’t need Sheed parked on the low block because that only reduces his driving lanes. Now, I still think Sheed could post up some more to add some variety to the Pistons team, but as long as he defends and rebounds he can shoot as many threes as he wants.
For instance, there’s been a couple games where AI out-rebounded Rasheed… that can’t happen…
