Worthy of Your Attention

by Marcel Mutoni

There are 13 games on the NBA schedule tonight, but we’ll pay special attention to these three …

Detroit @ Toronto: Two of the best teams in the Eastern Conference will duel it out at the ACC tonight, but no one will really care about that. Everybody’s eyes will be on the new guy in Detroit blue and red, rocking the no.1. Yeah, that’ll definitely take some getting used to.

Strange, exciting days ahead for the Pistons and their fans.

Charlotte @ New York: Guess who’s bizzak? Larry Brown makes a return to his old stomping grounds, where turmoil and confusion are still the name of the game. I wonder if Marbury will ask Larry to take him back to Charlotte with him?

Atlanta @ New Orleans: If the Hawks plan on becoming contenders in this here League, these are the types of games they need to start winning. I wouldn’t hold my breath on that happening, however. Still, it should be a fun-to-watch affair.

Enjoy the games.

  • albie1kenobi Posted: Nov.5 at 12:57 pm
AI in red and blue will not be hard to get used to. I never got used to AI in powder blue.

  • NACHOveli Posted: Nov.5 at 12:58 pm
few people in sports have a more iconic number than AI’s #3. but hey, were always up for change right??? right???

  • Joe Posted: Nov.5 at 1:00 pm

  • Roy Posted: Nov.5 at 1:07 pm

  • B. Long Posted: Nov.5 at 1:20 pm
Hawks vs. Hornets is gonna be fire.

  • Dma Posted: Nov.5 at 1:28 pm
AI wants to confuse people by wearing #1. In case you didn’t know, there was an election yesterday.

  • Kieran Posted: Nov.5 at 1:31 pm

  • Yknot Posted: Nov.5 at 1:58 pm
Damn, and my free NBA league pass preview is over! I guess I’ll have to fork over my cash to David Stern just to watch a game. Call me the poor mans’ Monta Ellis.

  • albie1kenobi Posted: Nov.5 at 1:59 pm
did not know AI is TAD’s favorite player. you must be on a constant high since Monday.

  • Bryan Posted: Nov.5 at 2:02 pm
I’m right there with you Tad.

  • witness Posted: Nov.5 at 2:03 pm

  • Orlando Green Posted: Nov.5 at 3:46 pm
    T. dot takes it…I don’t think Detroit is as good with AI….I hope the game is either on The Score, TSN or Sportsnet…

  • Kid Presto Posted: Nov.5 at 3:49 pm
I want to take TAD on that bet that the pistons will tank with A.I.

  • TADOne Posted: Nov.5 at 3:57 pm
KP: Oh, young buck. Tsk tsk. I’m listening….what you got??

  • Froggiestyle Posted: Nov.5 at 4:05 pm
Onyango !!!!!! Go out and read Dreams from my father – today!

  • Kid Presto Posted: Nov.5 at 4:17 pm
If the pistons make it to the east finals I will wear pistons gear for the next year I swear. I got eastbay on the next tab right now where I can buy some pistons stuff.

  • Candice Posted: Nov.5 at 4:21 pm
Yknot, you can watch the game online. LP broadband is free to the 11th.

  • orteezy Posted: Nov.5 at 4:30 pm
AI said it himself…early season trade gives the team time to mesh, maybe not so good tonight but they are MOS DEF scarrrrry come playoffs.

  • Gumdrop Posted: Nov.5 at 4:54 pm
Not to freak you guys out, but AI may not play tonight. It all depends on whether or not Chaucey has taken his physical yet.

  • Gumdrop Posted: Nov.5 at 4:54 pm
    Chaucey is slang for Chauncey.

  • rapsfan43 Posted: Nov.5 at 4:57 pm
    Go Raps

  • Bubba Chuck Posted: Nov.5 at 5:28 pm

  • Joe Posted: Nov.5 at 6:09 pm
And gumdrop’s right, Iverson ISNT playing tonight :( http://www.mlive.com/pistons/index.ssf/2008/11/iverson_debut_doubtful_tonight.html

  • Joe Posted: Nov.5 at 6:09 pm
    dissapointing stuff

  • TADOne Posted: Nov.5 at 6:15 pm
KP: The East Finals? Thats it? I expect them to make the Finals, nothing less. So your explanation of a team “tanking” is if they don’t make to the conference finals?? Interesting.

  • TADOne Posted: Nov.5 at 6:19 pm
Anyway, your bet is not really enticing me since I would have no idea whether or not you will follow thru.

  • [...] I know I didn’t include the Nuggets/Warriors game in today’s edition of ‘Worthy of Your Attention‘, and now I feel like an idiot. So, I’ll make up for it by giving the contest its own post. [...]

  • ab_40 Posted: Nov.5 at 6:57 pm
If AI fans around the world buy a no.1 jersey and he switches back to no.3 next summer will they be disapointed?

  • Anton Posted: Nov.5 at 7:47 pm
^^AI fans will be happy if he plays an additonal season after this

  • Darksaber Posted: Nov.5 at 9:50 pm
Ok, Phoenix in a Transition period is fine, but Amare scoring FOURTY NINE (while adding 11 boards, 5 Steals (!) and 6 Assists(Whattt?!) plus 2 blocks to top it off?? Good grief! That’s one already the line to beat this season and it’s only week 2. He better keep the Goggles after healing just like Rip kept the mask. DAMN, what a performance. (he hit all 15 free throws too, sheeeeit)

  • will Posted: Nov.6 at 12:46 am
^whats that got to do with anything

  • tealish Posted: Nov.6 at 1:16 am
Darksaber: That line, though impressive, is not even the best line of the night.

  • tealish Posted: Nov.6 at 1:18 am
Well, maybe tied. 17/21 fga is pretty ridiculous, even if mostly done inside.

  • Placktose Posted: Nov.6 at 2:00 am
Although Amare’s performance was amazing, Tony Parker’s 55 points 10 assists and 7 rebounds was the bench mark for line of the season for me. He also single handedly carried the spurs through double overtime to a win so that is pretty impressive (although scary that they struggled so much against the T-Wolves)

  • Darksaber Posted: Nov.6 at 2:03 am
well Lil Toné did have slightly better numbers, but he had 2OT for that. Amaré didn’t even have Shaq to ease the double teams most of the game. Amare has it. Still, 55 & 10? Damn!

  • Kostas Koufos Posted: Nov.6 at 3:08 am
There is a difference when a serious player like T.Parker is forced to score 55 and when a cartoon hero like Iverson is doing this for sneaker sales…just check his yesterday stat line and (maybe)you will get it…………

  • Kostas Koufos Posted: Nov.6 at 3:14 am
the Spurs didn’t have the same problems when they were missing Duncan instead of Manu….of course Manu is second to Kobe at the moment so imagine the Lakers without him or the Hornets without Paul…

  • Kostas Koufos Posted: Nov.6 at 3:15 am
or the Nuggets without Iverson…..(ha,ha,ha!!!)by the way…:
    IVERSON!!!IVERSON!!!IVERSON!!!IVERSON!!!IVERSON!!!IVERSON!!!

  • niQ Posted: Nov.6 at 5:04 am
    atl won!

  • Glisa Posted: Nov.6 at 9:11 am
    A.I.+Detroit=NBA finals….

  • tealish Posted: Nov.6 at 2:46 pm
Only Kostas will find a way to bash Iverson when everyone is praising the ridiculous line TP put up without mentioning Ivy. Why he/she does it, I’ll never know. But keep on preaching the AI-is-a-bad-man spiel. We all value what you have to say. I know I do.

  • Quail Posted: Nov.6 at 10:08 pm
everyone that thinks the AI trade was good, isnt smart. and i know my pistons like the FRONT of my hand… Chauncey Billups is the best PG in the league other than CP3 (thats right, he’s in front of Deron Williams and Tony Parker). and Dice is prolly in the top 3 6th men in the league. Sure, AI is a great player but the pistons just lost their best player and a great role player. for what… Allen Iverson. maybe if they would have sent someone with AI, it wouldnt be so bad. but the way it was pissed me off.

  • Anton Posted: Nov.6 at 10:24 pm
aight, let’s wait till friday for The Answer

  • Pistons Lover Posted: Nov.6 at 10:57 pm
Boomdizzle, I bet you took that back. Atl ain’t that lil wacked out team anymore. I bet they get in the playoffs again. Oh yeah, they did take Boston to 7 games…duh!!! Oh and we(Pistons) stay undefeated 4-0!!
