Worthy of Your Attention

by Marcel Mutoni

No time for small talk; straight to the games you need in your life this weekend…

Pistons @ Lakers: Kwame returneth to the City of Angels, as a starter no less. Cake for everyone!

(I’m sure the fans will give Brown a nice hand as they recall all of the beautiful moments he provided for them as a Laker.)

Warriors @ Clippers: It would be perfectly understandable if they canceled the game, and just gave everyone some time to weep softly.

New Orleans @ Houston
: After getting off to a blazing start, the Hornets have crashed back to Earth. They’ll be looking to right the ship in Houston, which isn’t a bad place to start. The Rockets will be playing the second of a tough back-to-back.

Heat at Raptors: I only point this one out because, if you happen to live in Ontario (where, for the uninitiated, the Raptors practice their trade), the game might not be visible to you unless you’ve purchase a ticket.

For you see, the endlessly maddening cat fight between Canadian TV networks for the rights to show NBA games trudges forward. Fun.

Enjoy the games everyone.

    Is Calderon going to play?

  • Horsey

not first…not that that matters anymore. chris paul wins this one by 9. he has 26 and 14 with 2 steals and a block for no damn reason. just sayin…

Hornets @ Rockets will be a real good game to catch.

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

the warrior-clipper game is an interesting game for my two cents.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

two guys i found underwhelming at the olympics are destroying the comp. Early in the season. Cp3 and Dwight with incredible performances every night. Nice.

  • Jess

No, Im good I have TSN2 so I will be watching the Raps game…I dont see why TSN and Rogers just cant work it out….Id be pretty upset if I didnt have it – theres a lot of other ball on there too – including the first game of TNT thursdays

    Is it 10:30 yet?

  • Anton

Detroit will hand the Lakers their first loss of the season tonight. Mark my words.

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

    Lakers by 10…at least.

Just voted for the All-Stars at NBA.Com: West – F Pau Gasol, F Amar’e Stoudemire, G Kobe Bryant, G Chris Paul, C Andrew Bynum, East – F Lebron James, F Paul Pierce, G Dwyane Wade, G Joe Johnson, C Dwight Howard

  • http://AllAbout-Penis-Enlargement.com Jukai

I got… Paul, Kobe, Duncan, Amare, Shaq (YES SHAQ) on the West, Calderon, Wade, Lebron, Pierce, and Dwight on the east. For today.

  • ciolkstar

Jukai: Shaq HAS played excedingly well thus far. Terry Porter might be smarter than he sounds.

  • Static

Lakers lose by 10, at least

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

I’m loving what Shaq has done this year (I got him on fantasy) but anyone who has to sit out games just because should not be an allstar IMO.

  • http://AllAbout-Penis-Enlargement.com Jukai

BLong: Good point, but who else? Yao has been underachieving, Bynum is a strong presence but not really a statistical powerhouse to be an all-star, Duncan and Amare are listed as power forwards… It’s gotta be Shaq.

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

You don’t have to be a statistical powerhouse to be an all-star see exhibit A. Ben Wallace, B. Jamal Magloire

  • http://www.ngunioamosotho.com Nguni

Detroit has had HUGE comebacks in the last two games they won against mediocre teams. They better change that mindset tonight against the LakeShow, otherwise they lose by 20.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

This TSN2 mess is disgusting. I’m in Montreal and Videotron doesn’t offer TSN2 so I’m living off of bootleg webcasts. Disgusting.

  • MAINE FROM THE WEST

THE LAKE SHOW IS HERE GET YOUR POPCORN OUT

  • http://www.sprint.com/sero Dma

    blazers hornets

  • Boing Dynasty

    Motherf*ck a TSN2.

  • WhaHuh

Al Jefferson for All star. Are people seriously voting for LeBron and Kobe for All Star?- thats a wasted vote= THEY ARE GETTING IN. Be more inventive

  • http://www.ravingblacklunatic.blogspot.com Allenp

    Detroit by 30.
Yes, I’m holding a crack pipe.

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

Kobe’s gonna perform an intervention for ya, Allenp.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

OH MY F*CKIN GOODNESS JUST GIVE THE PEOPLE IN CANADA TNT AND ESPN ALREADY. CANADIAN CABLE SUCKS @SS AND THEY DON’T EVEN BROADCAST ON THEIR OWN, ASIDE FROM ONE TEAM.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

WESTERN CANADA CAN’T EVEN GET LEAGUE PASS. HOW RET@RDED IS THAT? THAT’S LIKE A SCOTT CROSSED WITH A CHINTAO.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

@ WhaHuh: Jamal Crawford, Zach Randolph, and Ron Artest for All-Star! Rap the vote!

  • The Promise

Cmon Pistons, show everybody that this trade will work.

  • Bubba Chuck

    Nuggets @ Celtics

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

Does Bubba Chuck still root for the Nuggets? What the hell? Are you a sadeist or something?

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

@The Promise: The trade will work, just not tonite 8)

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

like a scott crossed with chintao. Damn Teddy.

  • Anton

    @Teddy
Even if Western Canada could get League Pass, why would you want to watch games on your computer?
Can’t replace a good satellite TV.

  • Anton

wow the Celtics/Nuggets game is more boring than Spurs playing themselves.

  • WhaHuh

    DENVER NUGGETS!!

  • http://slamonline.com RV

that houston game was horrible, i’d be really pissed if it wasn’t for the Lakers losing tonight. I didn’t want them to challenge the 15-0 record.

  • http://www.ravingblacklunatic.blogspot.com Allenp

    Iverson!
    TAD
I told you The Cakeman needed more minutes.
Good win by the Pistons. Did y’all see how many open shots iverson creates for people?
Man, if Sheed played that hard all the time he would be a Hall of Famer.

  • Anton

    what y’all say now?
    WHAT Y’ALL SAY NOW?
    Detroit, b!tches.

  • Anton

“good win”?! try “best win of the season”, “most important win”, “most monumental win”.
    it was no b!tch-@ss win.

  • Candice

B.Long what do you have to say now?

  • Krishan

Yes a monumental win. Eight games into the regular season, and I was also like BEST WIN EVAR. Moron.

  • http://slamonline.com RV

i’m amazed the pistons were able to pull off this big of a win shortly after acquiring AI, looks like it’ll be a good match afterall, i need to catch more Pistons’ games…

  • JBreeze

The Pistons have always owned the Lakers though. The Lakers are like 8-2 against the Pistons. I wasnt sure if the Pistons were going to win this one, because they are still getting used to AI but the Pistons looked real good out there tonight, they embarrased the hell out the Lakers. And LMAO off at Kwame, he must have read Marcels post..he owned tonight.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Allenp, Sheed is not wired like that so that can only be wishful thinking. That’s the mental aspect that separates the truly greats from the mere mortals. The MJs, the Kobes, the Brons, the TDs… they’re ‘locked in’ ALL THE TIME. Being consistent is a grind and it goes way deeper than skills. Sheed ain’t built like that, that’s just not in his DNA. Still a tremendously gifted player and very smart too. He’s just so fundamentally sound.

  • tealish

“Sheed ain’t built like that, that’s just not in his DNA. Still a tremendously gifted player and very smart too. He’s just so fundamentally sound.”
^Why doesn’t Vince ever get referenced this way?
Pistons were great, winning in spite of Rip’s struggles once again. And Kwame with a DOUBLE DOUBLE!! Dayum!

  • Bubba Chuck

@B. Long: ya because i still live in denver. i root 4 tha pistons 2 but mutoni already said that game

  • http://Www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

    If you’re scared……

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

…it must be the Lakers facing the Pistons.

  • http://slamonline.com RV

And the pistons have done very well considering rip is shooting like 30% for the season, dude is killing my fantasy team. Tayshaun Prince is severely underrated.

  • Anton

@ Krishan – how is it not monumental thus far? Beating an undefeated team who’s beating others by an average of 18 points, by a new Pistons still getting used to their offense. A lot around here were writing the move off as a publicity stunt, and the win is still not important?!
Put down the bitch flakes and snap back to reality.

  • http://deleted DD

Anton: I agree with you, however, iverson has had a much smoother transition into the detroit offense than billups into denver. Billups hasn’t been putting up consistent high numbers and has low %s, iverson on the other hand is scoring 20 ppg, and 5 asst in Detroit. You might argue that iverson just got lucky these first games, but u can’t argue that billups is adapting well.

  • Krishan

    Eight
    Freakin
    Games
    Into
    The
    Season

You guys go ahead and get your collective panties up in a bunch, Ima watch me some ball. PS: I was one of the few people here who actually thought that the trade benefitted detroit more than denver, and was genuinely excited for the pistons,so I took a little solace out of this game. But of course since it happened to the lakers, OHMYGODWHATAMIGOINGTODOOOOO

  • Dziri {213}

Never thought that with 4 sports channels (Sportsnet, TSN, The Score and Raptors TV) would I miss a regular season Raptors game but alas … the time has come.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com.au Hursty

How the fu*k do the Rockets lose to a team like the Spurs after being up 14 in the 4th? Then go around and beat the Hornets by double digits the next night? wth….!!
