Amar’e Stoudemire’s Debut Blog

STAT weighs in on Drumma Boy, All-Star and asks for your questions.

This is real. Amar’e Stoudemire will be writing a blog for SLAMonline.com on a regular basis this season. He’ll do his best to respond to reader’s comments in the comments section (when he can) and address questions in future blog posts. So without any further ado, we give you STAT Blog 01…

Hey SLAM Readers,

I’m looking forward to writing my blog on SLAM. They’ve given me the opportunity to communicate directly with you guys through their website, so thanks SLAM!

Looking at our team’s stats, the offensive rebounding was down, so that’s where my emphasis has been. For the past couple games, I think my play has improved and speaks for itself. As a team, we are still adjusting to the new coaching staff, and we are trying to get better each and every day. I’ve been watching a lot of film of my future opponents and studying their tendencies, strengths, weaknesses, including their mental toughness, so that I can play my best when I match up with them. As I’m writing this, we just had a big trade happen, so I’ll be sure to write my thoughts on that in my next blog.

I met up briefly with TI in LA to talk about some business collaborations. It was really great to meet him, since I’m a big fan of his music. I also want to give props to my boy, Drumma Boy for being nominated for a Grammy!

Be sure to check out my blogs with SLAM on SLAMonline.com as I have some good stories to tell. I’m also excited about the All-Star game being in my town and all the events lined up! I’ll be relaunching a new website soon, so check it out at www.AmareStoudemire.com.

    Dear STAT,

Thank you for blessing us, your fans with wonderful offensive play this year. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the J-Rich trade.

    PS: Please stop flopping.

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

Khalid, what do you think he should name his blog?

  • http://slamonline.com Khalid Salaam

    That’s up to him.

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

Fair ’nuff. Knowing him, it’ll be mint edition level stuff. What I really want to know is how STAT looks so HAPPY right there!

  • http://nba.com tealish

First matter of business needs to be in reference to your Oscar-worthy flops this year. My goodness.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com Moose

I recommend . . . “STAT’s Opponent Stakeout”. Complete with alliteration and all.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com Moose

    Wasn’t that cute?

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

yo sun tzu (i heard thats your new nickname) i’m readin that art of war and heard you were too, you able to incorporate what you read in the book onto the court at all?

  • cordeazy

    this was wack

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

Sun TZU is a nice nickname. Moose, it was cute.

  • BigWalt206

Amare, I wanna know where I get get some of those hot ass sport glasses..Also, I think you should have gone with some Horace Grant type goggles…one orange pair, one purple pair

  • http://www.slamonline.com Ryan Jones

    Dear Amare,
A lot of 12 year olds will post things on here under made-up names that will be both needlessly critical and stunningly ill-informed. So, you know, heads up.
    Love,
    Farmer Jones (we’re blog friends!)

Amar’e, on a completely non-basketball related note, I’ve been hearing family rumors for a few years and I’m not sure if they’re true, but back when you were at Cypress Creek High School how well did you know Jessica Basora? I know it’s a way back, but again, this would settle some family issues.

  • BETCATS

    Amare,
Thanks for giving me one more thing to read. I am not gonna kiss your a$$ like some other people and offer you ‘cute knicknames’ but i am looking forward to reading whatever you write. Also, i am a Bobcats fan, and i never saw Jared Dudley dunk when he was with my team, can you ask him why he never attempted one? I know you wont but i wish you would.

    WoW

  • j

Was it more difficult sitting and watching the team play while you had to go through rehabilitation? Or is it more difficult to translate your game into a new coach and system?

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

For your information BET amare got that nickname from a sportswriter it was between sun tzu and the punisher

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

Nbk, i was refering to moose, not everything is about you, stop being so selfish.

PS- Amare i am eating Pizza right now, isnt that so cool that i am telling Amare Stoudemire i am eating some Pizxa? I think it is.

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

mayeb you should learn the difference between a nickname and a name for a blog then.

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

STATS J’ has improved to the point where it’s reminding me alil of Karl Malone’s baseline J’.

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

haha, I think it’s funny what BET said about “Amare i am eating Pizza right now, isnt that so cool that i am telling Amare Stoudemire i am eating some Pizxa? I think it is. ” Ah, this guy

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com Moose

@ Ryan Jones: Was that a subtle shot at me? Just wondering . . .

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

    Nbk,
maybe i should have also learned the difference between your mom and a cow, but lets not bring that here.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com Moose

And very funny, BETCATS. It was a joke, dude. Think you know that, though . . .

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

and Pizxa is like Pizza but with a x. you would understand, but your from Texas, Justin.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

and i am just being a d0uche now because i am happy i only got 1/2 a day worth of school left. -pats self on back-

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

Naw, BET, I wasn’t laughing about the pizxa, it was just cool the way you wrote it i pictured a mean joe green passes you the jersey moment. like it was a rare innocent moment for you. Moose, Ryan Jones was most likely responding to cordeazy or whatever the hell he spelled that like saying “that was wack” or something to that effect about the blog

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

the difference between my mom and a cow, unlike most cows my mom has never been violated by your dad

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

    Nbk with the excellent comeback.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

you realize i have been raised by my grandparents and mother, and have had nothing ever to do with my father, i find that comment very ammusing?

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

but Nbk (the Nugget-sized blownback kid?) you have a long mountain to climb before you can diss me. We all remember the top 50 arguments quite well. Lets not bring it to STATs house

  • http://www.ballislife.com Justin Walsh

Yes, let STATS house be a sanctuary!

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

what do you know about me bet? You talk about my family im gonna talk about yours but looking for sympathy is cute

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

not looking for sympathy, if i wanted you to cry me a river i would throw salt in your eyes. I am looking for respect, something i have earned and you havent.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

    FANTASY HOOPS QUESTION:
Beasley just got dropped in my league, I have the #1 waiver priority. Should I drop Thaddeus Young to grab him?

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

you may have earned it with the people here but i am not them, i am not going to let you talk ish and let it go because someone here respects you.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

but lets chill, i provoked this, so lets chill, its STATs blog, lets not screw it up.

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

I have thaddeus and Beasley on my team right now and i can tell you thaddeus gives me less headaches beasley is far too inconsistent

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

oh yeah bet no hard feelings

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ RV

wow, way to ruin Stat’s first blog entry guys…i’m sure he’ll be thrilled writing for ya in the future….my question is, what defender surprised you the most the first time you matched up with him, and why?

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

I’m still not sure, because Thad has cooled off considerably and is also not starting right now. But thanks for responding. This is the only place where I can go with a hoops related question…

  • http://allday-fadeaway.blogspot.com Nbk

my bad stat didn’t mean to treat this like a normal post

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

This is crazy. One of the biggest reasons why SLAM is cool is that top players also think its cool and want to be a part of it. @Amare: Any response to Shaq’s “I can get 27 and 10 with my eyes closed” statement today?Sorry I tried to jack the thread with fantasy nonsense. Where’s Emry at anyway?

  • http://www.ravingblacklunatic.blogspot.com Big Man

Do people really think Amare is going to answer their questions?

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com/ Money Bill Williams

    Hi Amare,
I am your biggest fan in the world! When I turn 13 next week I want to be able to dunk like you! Can you send me heaps of signed Suns stuff to PO Box 773 Dapto NSW Australia 2500. Thanks your the best
