Andre Miller on the Crossover Heard ‘Round the World

Said ‘Dre after getting his revenge on young D-Rose last night: ”It could have happened to anybody,” Miller said. ”I could have done him like that. That’s basketball. It’s going to be glorified just because he’s a young guy making a name for himself in the league. It was a nice move. For me, it was tough to be on the bad end of it, but I take that in stride. I don’t take it personally.”

    He takes this so personally…

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 10:34 am
Mature elder statesman of PG’s. Well said. Also, I thought it was a sick filthy nasty move…but I don’t think it lives up to the hype. I am more into the cross DWade unleashed on Eric Snow, the AI twice fall crossover, and the many Joey Crawford crosses that are smooth like a boat floats when he’s walkin’

  • Bryant Reeves Posted: Dec.3 at 10:36 am
“I could have done him like that”… I don’t think so.

  • TADOne Posted: Dec.3 at 10:36 am
    No Dre, you couldn’t have.

  • daanswer Posted: Dec.3 at 10:38 am
    Not in a million years……

  • Cub Buenning Posted: Dec.3 at 10:40 am
Justin, that referee does have a sweet handle.

  • Diesel Posted: Dec.3 at 10:42 am
Dre would have broke a hip trying to “do him like that”. Dre wasn’t fast enough to do that in college let alone now. He always used his size. What he should of said was “I can pump fake my way to the free throw line all night” because that’s all he did…and he stillalmost lost the game…not to mention Rose made Dre do the splits again last night

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 10:43 am
Fair enough Cub, I’ve been caught adding a Y to his name, therefore changing him from a filthy guard from the university of MICHIGAN, to a ref who hates tim duncan.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 10:46 am
Oh my god i thought of a GREAT nickname to this crossover, way better than the crossover heard round the world. Okay, everybody calls him DRE, for obvious name reasons….Well, in the song forgot about dre, he had a line that included “that the firm flopped”…welll we should call this moment in basketball history “the firm flopped”…fits perfectly.

  • Cub Buenning Posted: Dec.3 at 10:47 am
    Do i win that award?!?!?

  • TADOne Posted: Dec.3 at 10:50 am
    Nice Justin.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 10:52 am
Yes Cub, you win! Your prize? Jeremy Pargo and Austin Day playing like GANGBUSTERS this season. Also, Ira Brown is an amazing role player/ex pro baseball player, Micah Downs finally looks calm in Mark Few’s lineup, Sacre is a great hustleman for Gonzaga this year in the front court that should take over for Pendergraft’s absence. And who isn’t a fan of that freshman PG Goodwin. Award given!

  • BETCATS Posted: Dec.3 at 11:00 am
you got your ankles snaped, deal with it

  • Andy Posted: Dec.3 at 11:03 am
Any discussion on crossovers that doesn’t mention Timmy Hardaway isn’t a conversation on crossovers, in my opinion.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 11:04 am
    well said Andy. Well said.

  • Mo Charlo Posted: Dec.3 at 11:13 am
“I’m old and he broke my ankles.” Miller went on to say.

  • josesito Posted: Dec.3 at 11:14 am
i got done tonight, but redeemed myself by somehow pulling out a splits - then - freaky breadancing move - all whilst the ball was sailing out of bounds. Was without a doubt the most inappropriate move ever, but it went down a treat.

  • Cub Buenning Posted: Dec.3 at 11:16 am
Justin, you left off my Colorado boy, Matt Bouldin!!!
You peep my feature of them in the latest iss?

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 11:21 am
absolutely, my uncle was a gonzaga professor for years, I read any Zags piece. And I didn’t forget Bouldin, but I gotta give you some room for adding info :)

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.3 at 11:24 am
also Cub, I am the unofficial automatic bandwagon rider for the zags, have been since Ronny Turiaf first came. I was young back then haha. Then there was JP BATISTA! Also Let’s not forget MOrrison. There are way more Zag’ stars but Those were just a few that I personally watched develop over the years

  • seppo Posted: Dec.3 at 12:21 pm
i don“t know what the big deal is. rose didn“t even put the ball through his legs or behind the back. it was just a quick change of direction followed by a swatted layup. a crafty move without any flair.

  • Roy Posted: Dec.3 at 12:32 pm
Andrei Miller got OW3N3D by D-Rose….

  • Roy Posted: Dec.3 at 12:33 pm
Andrei Miller got OWN3D by D-Rose….

  • Pve84 Posted: Dec.3 at 1:45 pm
Right attitude. Although I don’t know if he could ever reciprocate on D. Rose, Miller got abused because he was making a serious defensive effort and that’s what counts. It’s just a shame it didn’t turn out well.

  • Josh D Posted: Dec.3 at 2:09 pm
Andre Miller should be an All Star, he has a great attitude and game

  • Michael Tillery Posted: Dec.3 at 3:00 pm
I’ll have more on this tonight when the Lakers meet the Sixers.

  • 76Guy Posted: Dec.3 at 3:15 pm
Yeah, Dre got crossed and yeah it was very nice but it’s still only two points… The bigger story here is Sam Dalembart goaltending his NBA record setting 212th shot of the season.

  • Breeze Posted: Dec.3 at 3:49 pm
Pve84 is a dummy. Don’t listen to him

  • collin Posted: Dec.3 at 4:16 pm
he should be an all-star. too bad he cant guard the crossover though. damn, im gonna be laghin at that forever. HE GOT OWNED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Tommy Patron Posted: Dec.3 at 4:33 pm
The whole glorification of “owning” is interesting. Let’s dumb it down!

  • what Posted: Dec.3 at 4:46 pm
Ain’t nobody on Philly is playing like an All Star this year. Get it together Elton Brand! Worst first round fantasy pick I’ve ever made so far, other than Gilbert last year.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Dec.3 at 6:30 pm
I told you guys, didn’t I? Andre Miller is nice. He was not dominated by Rose.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Dec.3 at 6:31 pm
Andre Miller is definitely a potential all-star. I would say he’s one of the most underrated point guards in the game today.

  • slamfan4life Posted: Dec.3 at 7:02 pm
he was dominated by rose…..and that game the bulls lost dre got crossed by Rose again, he didnt score but dre kinda did the splits on the ground…………….

  • Ryan.T. Posted: Dec.3 at 7:07 pm
Just to piss everybody off… Do you guys remember when MARBURY made Yao collapse during Yao’s rookie season? It was barely a crossover. One more time: “MARBURY” Let the bashing begin.

  • davidR Posted: Dec.3 at 7:26 pm
rose also got that monster block on miller’s fast break layup

  • davidR Posted: Dec.3 at 7:30 pm
this is still one of my favorite crosses on someone. dude lost complete control of his body http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9stFVtApbYc

  • Moose Posted: Dec.3 at 8:28 pm
“It could have happened to anybody,” Miller said.
Uhhh, sure. But it’s more likely that Rose will do you in like that then Rose to do that to you. So I don’t really buy that, Andre.

  • T-pott Posted: Dec.3 at 8:31 pm
He’s trying to play it off.

  • Hursty Posted: Dec.3 at 8:53 pm
@DavidR- That ankle breaker was a game winner to boot.
    Also, poor Eric Snow….

  • Russ Bengtson Posted: Dec.3 at 10:19 pm
Was this really that big a deal? When did the NBA turn into the And 1 tour? I’m with Dre.

  • KA Posted: Dec.3 at 11:51 pm
i dont think you coulda done rose like that dre.

  • Prentice Mcgruder Posted: Dec.4 at 7:25 am
Russ, there is a big difference between the Rose move and the And1 guys. I hate all that through the defenders legs off his face roll on the ground sh!t, but Rose’s cross was amazing to watch. And without a hint of showboating.

  • chintao Posted: Dec.5 at 2:03 am
As usual, I am AGAINST Teddy. Andre Miller is nice? Naw. Dude is straight-up serviceable… except when he is straight-up servable (cf. D. Rose highlights).
