    ‘Crisis’ Time in New York

Totally didn’t see this one coming: “This is a crisis, without a doubt,” D’Antoni said. “The spirit is right. The hearts are in the right place. There’s no reason we don’t come out of it and start playing well again…We’ll change things up, different rotations, play a longer bench. Did I run them into the ground? I’ll factor all that in and come up with a game plan.”

Ah sh*t, well good luck to coach D’Antoni there… Do they HAVE a bench though? Nate? Tim Thomas?

      It’s like Isiah never left.

I knew they should’ve gotten more out of those Crawford/Randolph trades. You can’t consistently win by playing just 7 guys.

Stole the words right outta my mouth, baconator.

The fog of the muli-million dollar contract is finally lifting… It’s really had to believe how bad the Knicks have been for most of this decade. While the Yankees were at least able to buy a respectable team with their money, the Knicks always seem to make the worst possible decisions. They should let one of their scouts run the team, since low level drafting is one of the few things they seem to be successful doing. That is of course when they keep their picks or aren’t picking in the Lottery (Gallinari).

I thought the Knicks had been in crisis for a long time.

The reason is that the three closest players to franchise guys they have are Chris Duhon, Quentin Richardson, and Al Harrington. I’ve got nothing against Duhon, he’s a great player, or anything against Richardson or Harrington, but if these guys were on a really deep team like the Lakers, the Cavs, Spurs, or the Celtics these might not even be starting

    • Russ Bengtson Posted: Dec.29 at 2:37 pm
No, the reason is that they have FIVE roster spots taken up by guys who can’t (or won’t) play—Curry, Gallinari, Jerome James, Marbury, and Mobley. Not to mention non-factors Anthony Roberson and Malik Rose, who should be fast-tracked for sainthood just for being around this mess for so long and never raising a stink. Then factor in Nate Robinson and Al Harrington, who are All-Pro chuckers, and Tim Thomas, who hasn’t cared about anything at all since 2002, and it’s amazing they win any games.

This post is probably the first time “Chris Duhon” and “great player” have ever been said in the same sentence.

The world hit crisis mode when the Run N Gun Sun thing was broken apart….

D’Antoni said. “If we get back to where we were, playing well, sharing the ball, helping on defense, we’ll have a run for the playoffs.”
In New York, “helping on defense” standing aside, so that the other team scores at least 120 points.

Also, not to speak ill of the departed, but Mobley hasn’t averaged 20 ppg since 2001. Sounds like D’Antoni is in Uptempo Excuse(TM) mode.
