Garnett ODs On Intensity, Exhibit No. 34,605

In the same quarter that Kevin Garnett barked Glen Davis into a teary eyed fit, K.G. got on his hands and knees, going at Jerryd Bayless.

Right before he raised his arms KG said “Get a wiff of this!” Then Bayless made that funny face and was very confused

    This is just great ness

um, i commented on this the morning after it happened, i was wondering if and when anyone would get good video of it.

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

damn, its just slowed down. kg is crazy

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com Moose

You guys haven’t seen Garnett’s dog impression? Oh, it’s great! He does it outside the Garden every night! I guess all of you foreigners haven’t been enlightened with seeing it yet.

Best part of this — by far — is Bayless coming down and hitting the J in his eye. There is no b*tch in that kid.

  • Kihwan

KG’s act is getting old. The ‘intensity’ he shows is starting to go overboard. Did he pull this crap when he was in Minny?

  • dfrance

KG is effin nuts, but I like Bayless. He came in and started going hard, if he could find some time in that rotation, I think he could do good things.

  • http://www.slamonline.com John D

    Does that bother you?

  • Sarah

Crazy motherf-cker.. I kind of felt bad for him when he was crying on TV about losing and wanting to win a championship, perhaps I shouldn’t have. Who knew winning one would only make him crazier? I’m all for playing with passion and intensity, but that doesn’t give you a pass to be an a-shole on the floor. Jordan, Bird and Magic never instigated that much. They may have talked smack but they were sportsmen at the end of the day — not beastly-looking things crawling on the floor and getting up in kids’ faces. I’ll say one thing though, thank God KG has basketball. I can’t imagine him out in the world where he didn’t get to compete physically everyday. It’ll be scary when he retires.

  • littleshotlarry

More minutes for Bayless plz. thx.

  • The Stro Show

    Free Jarryd Bayless.

  • whooo!

kg seems more like a jackass every day. it seems that ring did make him worse in that now he feels more justified w/ his bullsh*t. weird how nobody ever actually goes at him. peeler rocked him and mcdyess had kg backpeddling like crazy – we know dude’s all bark.

  • Captain America

I’ve known KG for years, he is a raving loon.

  • http://fjkl.com Jukai

Can Russel take away his ring? Seriously…

  • Captain America

Kihwan, yea he was stupid crazy in Minney too. Also one hell of a basketball player, the franchise. KG lives in a bubble, very few really know who he is.

  • namik

All I’ll say is that there have been many players who were far better players and leaders than this guy, and who won way more and were just as if not more intense than him and didn’t need to resort to such BS.

  • Dziri {213}

Garnett is acting like a lil bitch right now getting in the face of all these youngns tryin to make a name for themselves: Bogut, Calderon, Bayless. I wish he woulda tried pullin that stunt on Chris Childs.

  • http://celtics.com KobeWearsAPurpleThong

Chris Childs..? lol. Everyone knows not to mess with Big Chris Childs…moron

  • http://celtics.com KobeWearsAPurpleThong

It’s all in the name of the game. Bayless is a big boy. Stop hatin’ on Ticket because he finally got the Larry O’Brien.

  • speedy

I mean Garnett is sooo tough. I …mean his going at this … guy . Oh….wait …this ..guy is..one head …shorter than he is .

  • http://www.alllooksame.com Tarzan Cooper

sarah is right, kg is gonna be extra crazy when he retires, it would be great if he took up golf, that would be some $hit to see

  • Ravi

lol, KG thinks he’s tough, when in reality his act is just wearing thin. He’s become a caricature of himself.

Crawling? Seriously? He looks like an oversized infant.

  • KobeWearsThreeRings

There comes a time when delicate, waifish men becomes so enraptured in their own corporate-created myth that they actually believe they sweat colored sports drink. That time is nigh for KG. I see criminal charges in the near future. A possible ‘wide stance’ type situation in an airport bathroom.

  • MeloMan13

Why do u ppl hate on Kg. hes just bringin excitement and intensity. i dont get how u guys say “his act is getting old”. if he were to stop acting like this then u wud be talking about how he doesn’t have that fire. personally, I’d much rather watch Kg actin a fool than a guy like VC showing NO heart

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

I want to see an adidas commercial where he’s teaching the kids this patented “Great Dane” defensive stance.

  • Benoit Benjamin

I don’t wanna be around when the guy retires. Who is he gonna take his intensity on? The postman? The starbucks lady? Is he gonna yell on passers-by and make them cry? Actually I wanna be around and witness that. Could be fun.

  • Haon

How fast would Ron Artest / Sheed Wallace get suspended if they pulled any stunt like this?

    The NBA… where Marketing happens.

  • ti-sizz

kg is starting to remind me of golum from lotr…

  • Young Chris MP3

I’m surprised this is news. He does it all the time. He even did it in the finals last year at one point (3-point stance I believe).

  • Stewie Griffin

Until KG does it in front of Artest, he’s just pretending being a man

  • http://fjsdklf.com Jukai

B Long is killing it today

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ RV

I thought he had actually crawled…he just got on his knees and slapped the hardwood a few times…nothing too crazy

  • Lance

KG’s acts has ramped up because he knows no one wants to chance a 20 game suspension by busting his jaw eight ways from Sunday. If KG got on all fours like that on the playground, any self-respecting baller would catch that fool under the chin with an Air Max.

  • http://www.where-basketball-b-longs.blogspot.com/ B. Long

    @Jukai:Thanks. Check the blog,homie.

  • jub_al

…yes i think it’s a little overboard, but KG does not look to hurt anybody (well, not physically anyways…sorry big baby) with his antics.. it might not seem like it, but he’s always got it under control… the way i see it, KG’s bringing a sense of street with his intensity. i hear and read about guys pulling out pistols after getting crossed-up, or crowds at Rucker giving cats a hard time b/c they’re not doing well… to many, including KG, that’s how basketball is played in reality, and in my opinion, KG brings the intimidation of the streets…some guys bring their fancy dribbles, some guys bring their physicality..KG brings out the psychological edge from his street game… it’s not good for the NBA, no doubt about it, and many parents won’t understand how their kids can look up to this “animal”… but does KG care? would anybody like to stop him?

  • http://thesportsdiaryonline.blogspot.com Roy

That was interesting… Didn’t see that one coming from KG… :D

  • riggs

to the people saying oh hes going overboard, yall are idiots, he hasnt changed one bit and is actually more tamed now but it just proves how bandwagon fans yall are.

  • Young Chris MP3

He does that ALL the time! He’s been doin it since before he won the championship too. If the haters wanna hate, then it’s your loss.

  • Amanda

Good Lord, there are some major headcases in the NBA.(Ron Artest, Sheed Wallace, Bill Walton etc etc) though KG5 will always be the platinum standard of crazy.

  • Tekno

So Riggs, you’re saying he’s always been an idiot Right? Ok. Gotcha.

  • Gumdrop

I like KG’s intensity, but it’s completely unnecessary to demean your opponent like that. To call it hating to be against that bullsh*t is pure foolishness.

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Jerryd Bayless has real potential. He didn’t care what the hell KG did to intimidate him, that kid was not shook. Good for him. He needs to get more playing time, definitely. The Knicks should have had him! Oh but wait, we drafted Gallinari! Yippy!!!
Did I mention we could have had Jerryd Bayless?

  • Teddy-the-Bear

Pretty intriguing defensive stance from Garnett, by the way.
    Marbury + Gallinari for Bayless??

  • http://celtics.com KobeWearsAPurpleThong

@Meloman13-good point. Most of these fans of teams other than Boston & LA are just distressed. The reality is sinking in that their team won’t be in the Finals for the next 2 years or more. Cheer up haters-DWade severely posterized Emeka Nokanscore tonite.

  • http://celtics.com KobeWearsAPurpleThong

@Teddy-you’d have to pay someone big $ to take Gallinari. He is the new Darko.

  • Jace

well, kg did it last season to David West.. and West scored on that possession.

  • D12FSU

KG is the biggest douche in the L

  • Anton

The Big Ticket is the definition of intensity

  • Anton

    cosign Meloman13.
the f*ck is wrong with you people? god forbid someone inject the NBA with passion for once!

  • Mike

I dont mind that he does this $hit, but stop doing it to 6-4 and under young guards! Why dont you talk go talk some ish to Shaq, Amare, or DH and then ill consider him tough…right now he just looks plain stupid!

  • Todd Spehr

And this is why they’ll repeat

  • http://www.bbaxn.com Darksaber

I think i’m getting too old to understand a majority of slamonline fans, specifically the group who think KG is losing it. That ship has sailed (in the on court sense, ok?) KG, came into the league and got to play Oak, Kevin Willis, Rodman… and a lot more NBA enforcers, so give it a rest with the complaining. KG is passionate about the game, and has even turned it into a weapon on the court (check Bayless carrying the ball while trying to prove something on the play above-Turnoverrrrr). I grew up watching Jordan/Reggie/Larry/Glove/Alonzo/LJ/Antoine Carr and even John Stockton master psychological B-Balling, so this is peanuts compared to what those guys did on the regular. And now that he finally has a ring, and won it in a dominating fashion no less, the refs are giving him a lot more room to operate. Fine by me, while everyone is watching the KG-Show, Jesus Shuttlesworth will quietly stick the (3-point) dagger in their backs. I love this game.

  • http://www.bbaxn.com Darksaber

and you gotta love a 7 footer going for full court presses on PG/SG’s then sprinting back to cover his man regularly. Let’s see Amar’e(what’s with the spelling change on other Sites now, STAT?) or Bagnani try that more than once a game.

  • http://fjsdklf.com Jukai

Darksaber is proving he is no older than 15. Jordan/Reggie/Larry/Glove/Alonzo/LJ/Carr(wtf?)/Stockton NEVER did anything like what Garnett is doing on the court.
It’s shameful to get on all fours. It’s disgusting to shove your fingers in someone’s face. It’s degrading to go up to a player and say “SMELL MY ARMPITS” and then raise them widely to let him.
He’s being Maravich-esque in his need to piss every other player off in the league. Jordan would curse you out running down the court. Garnett is doing things that he should be T’d up for seven times over. There’s a rather large difference.

  • http://fjsdklf.com Jukai

I’m just tired of people coming to Garnett’s aid. He’s pretty much been blatantly embarrassed by both Calderon and Bayless, yet I know he’ll keep trying to pick on guys half his size, lord knows he doesn’t want to pick on someone like McDyess. He’ll run away like a little b*itch again.

  • Clockwork

Could Shaq crawl around the court too? Probably wouldn’t be able to get up.

  • Double J

I really have lost a lot of love for KG now that I’ve seen him in the limelight a bit more often. Eveyone used to say he had class and his game was all about passion, but the more I watch I see an immature player who screams for no apparent reason to build his image. He’s a great basketball player, but his intensity has gone to the land of jerkism. He is a jerk who cusses on the court and causes grown men to cry. Dude’s evil, long live KB24

  • vmcb

75% of the players on Boston’s roster are a$$holes.

  • ab_40

he does that every game that crawling thing ad mid court most of the times towards the guy who brings the ball up. intimidation.

double J hahahahahaha wow, I hope you’re not serious

  • http://www.bbaxn.com Darksaber

Ah Juks, you of such little tolerance for others opinions. Of course Jordan (read the Jordan rules again, son) was the ambassador of class on the court all the time. Sames goes for Glove (nonstop curser and whiner) and Reggie (choke signs, flailing, legkicking outwards on threes..class), and let’s not forget the worm(flailer, flopper extraordinaire, all around superb athlete who sure didn’t need to do all that shiattt!) and Stockton (accountant looks with the sweetest dirty picks in the league). Sure, there’s a big difference, oh sorry actually there isn’t, all in a day’s work for intimidating an opponent. You don’t like KG’s antics? No problem, no ones asking you to. I love the added sideshow’s in the NBA main events

  • http://www.whl.travel Adrian

Ray-ray is still class though. Just wanted to put that out there.

  • http://www.whl.travel Adrian

Darksaber – sure it’s entertaining, but don’t pretend it’s classy – and honestly, could you ever see Jordan doing something like that?

  • http://double-technical.blogspot.com Zee!

KG is really starting to get annoying/wierd. Somebody dunk on him again please.

  • Young Chris MP3

Again, if the haters wanna hate then it’s ur loss…

  • S. Trotter

I’ll care when they stop getting Ws.

  • http://www.bbaxn.com Darksaber

@Adrian: who said anything about classy? i surely did not. It’s an intimidation tactic, and if that’s what he needs to do to pump himself up, so be it. I just noted that all kinds of “superstars” have been known to be dicks on (and sometimes) off the court, so why all the KG hate all of a sudden? Oh, i know. He’s no longer the lovable, intense loser, so it’s time to flip the switch. Kinda like what happens in here to great players as soon as they start winning awards (Shaq, Nashty, Dirk Werner, Dwyane to name a few)
