    Raymond Felton to Golden State?

    by Marcel Mutoni

These Raymond Felton trade rumors simply refuse to go away. And this time, his hometown paper has a possible destination for the soon-to-be (restricted) free agent guard.

Don Nelson and the Golden State Warriors reportedly wants to get their hands on the twenty-four year old.

    From the Charlotte Observer:

The Warriors and Bobcats have had discussions about Felton, an NBA source told the Observer, and the Warriors appear open to giving up either Randolph or Wright to make a deal work.

Bobcats general manager Rod Higgins would neither confirm, nor deny, talks with the Warriors involving Felton. Higgins came to the Bobcats two years ago from a similar role with the Warriors.

The ‘Cats are (understandably) enamored with rookie D.J. Augustin, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that they want to get rid of Felton.

I want this trade to happen, if only for the slight chance that Michael Jordan and Brandan Wright would, at last, settle their “beef” on the court.

This would be good for Golden State. It might (might) settle their point guard problem once and for all. Thoughts, Holly?

    • rikson Posted: Dec.19 at 10:40 am
Hes underrated - I think this could be the begin of a new felton…

    • j Posted: Dec.19 at 10:46 am
The Warriors already released as statement stating this is in no way true.

    • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.19 at 10:49 am
Of course they did J. Thats the way it works, deny any and everything until it actually happens. Don’t want to alienate the young players by making them think you’re shopping them…

    • the baconator Posted: Dec.19 at 10:51 am
Woohoo!!! School’s officially out for break!!! This would be a great trade. The Warriors desperately need a pg, cuz Azuibuike/Captain Jack aren’t cutting it. Everyone knows the future of the Bobcat’s point is Augustin, so why not leave while he’s still wanted?

    • Roy Posted: Dec.19 at 11:14 am
Co-sign Moose. The Warriors need another point guard in their rotation… :D

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Dec.19 at 11:20 am
M.J. trading away JRich and possibly getting Brandon Wright back within the same month? This is too much.

    • Ryne Nelson Posted: Dec.19 at 11:21 am
@rikson: That’s what everyone said about Marcus Banks when he got traded as well.

    • B. Long Posted: Dec.19 at 11:22 am
^For sure. Is Raymond Felton becoming a poor man’s Gilbert Arenas?

    • j Posted: Dec.19 at 11:34 am
Too bad Nellie alienates the players all by himself due to lack of consistent playing time. Still don’t see this happening.

    • rikson Posted: Dec.19 at 11:38 am
@Ryne: Youre right about banks. But felton (to me) is clearly better… Why? - He can play on both ends of the floor.
BTW: I still think banks is a better player than most people give him credit for - but to go to phoenix to learn from nash wasnt really a smart move - dont you think?

    • drayton Posted: Dec.19 at 11:59 am
      JUST DO IT !

    • davidR Posted: Dec.19 at 12:10 pm
trading away brandon wright for jrich, then trading jrich away and possibly trading for brandon wright.. you can’t help but shake your head

    • davidR Posted: Dec.19 at 12:25 pm
dunno why the bobcats would want wright though, they would have a logjam at the forward positions

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 12:38 pm
i told all of you felton was going to gstate about a week ago. If this trade happens that means i have called every major trade in the nba this season.

    • Tzvi T Posted: Dec.19 at 12:47 pm
Marcus WIlliams is absolutely buried deeper than a casket on Nelly’s bench.

    • Young C Posted: Dec.19 at 1:18 pm
Felton is more like a poor mans Andre Miller. Neither can shoot from the perimeter

    • Young C Posted: Dec.19 at 1:27 pm
Or should I say younger & shorter Andre Miller

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 1:32 pm
hes a better shooter then miller and a much better athlete

    • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.19 at 1:48 pm
Yeah, I was wondering about Marcus Williams. He got seriously shut out in NJ, and if Nelly thinks your too wild and inconsistent there probably isn’t a place for you in this league.

    • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.19 at 1:49 pm
Felton is confusing. He needs to be on a stcked team, like at North Carolina, to be a successful distributor/occasional scorer.

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 2:02 pm
I think when felton finds a good fit he will be a solid pro like a mark jackson (minus the flash)

    • Tzvi T Posted: Dec.19 at 2:09 pm
If hoops doesnt pan out, Willams can always count on his backup plan, selling computers… Oh, wait. Scratch that. He wasn’t any good at that either

    • jaywhy Posted: Dec.19 at 2:20 pm
dont see why either team needs to do this trade…

    • Orlando Woolridge Posted: Dec.19 at 2:22 pm
I’ve mentioned in another post that I just don’t see THAT much difference between Felton and Augustin. The stats are pretty similar - Felton having better rebounding and assists numbers and Augustin has a better shooting percentage. I guess I should point out that Felton averages 6 more minutes. I’ve seen them both play and clearly Augustin is the fan favorite (the new guy), but if Augustin is better, the numbers don’t really reflect this. I’m not that big of a Felton guy or anything, I just find it a little confusing.

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 2:30 pm
Augustin is a better passer then Felton hands down no contest. The numbers arent everything

    • SLAM ONLINE | Posted: Dec.19 at 2:41 pm
[...] Ray Felton On The Block? [...]

    • Orlando Woolridge Posted: Dec.19 at 2:45 pm
Yes, I know that numbers aren’t everything. I believe those who have said that Augustin is the better point guard, I just think Felton is a little underrated, that’s all.

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 2:47 pm
oh he is thats for sure, but they are by no means even. DJ is a rookie puttin up really solid numbers while ray is in his 4th season and still hasn’t found a niche

    • BETCATS Posted: Dec.19 at 2:55 pm
as the one Bobcats fan on this site, i am slightly distraught to see this happening (and learning new words to express my critisim!. I predicted this would happen after we drafted DJ, and as long as we get Randolph or Wright, i will be fine with this. But Nbk, Felton is a far better play maker, he has just been gunning recently, because we are playing him at Shooting Guard so it is his job to sling up shots and not pass first. And to say he ‘hasnt found his niche’ just proves you dont watch the Bobcats and are not as fit to judge as me, somebody who watches every Bobcat game that comes on TV, and i say he has found it. So their.

    • Hursty Posted: Dec.19 at 2:57 pm
      Nelson=Felton?

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 2:58 pm
you can say whatever you want BET but the fact that he is getting traded proves he hasn’t found his niche. And for someone who was drafted with the “most” potential of an PG in his draft (its what they said draft night) he hasnt found his groove yet. And BET if you think he has found his niche then he is a vast underachiever. And i never said he wasn’t a good playmaker i said augustin was better hands down, which he is.

    • eric d Posted: Dec.19 at 3:03 pm
isn’t rod higgins don nelson’s guy from way back?felton for wright would be a steal in the long term for the bobcats and it would make the warriors the knicks of two years ago.

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 3:06 pm
if he wasn’t then Felton would play the point on offense and augustin would play the 2

    • albie1kenobi Posted: Dec.19 at 3:47 pm
while they are at it, the warriors should trade away turiaf and biedris too. we’ll have an all-guard lineup. not even any forwards.

    • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.19 at 4:26 pm
I think Jameer Nelosn and felton are a pretty good comparions. Although, Jameer is stronger and probably a better scorer.

    • what Posted: Dec.19 at 4:48 pm
What’s gonna happen when Monta Ellis comes back, and they have Ellis, Felton, Crawford, Morrow and Azubukkake all looking for minutes in the backcourt?

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 4:53 pm
Ellis is a 2, crawford will be great for them off the bench, morrow’s a rook who wasn’t going to get minutes in the first place and azubukae is on his way out anyway

    • Z Posted: Dec.19 at 5:46 pm
I’d like Nellie to give a shot to Ellis at the point.

    • RV Posted: Dec.19 at 10:12 pm
It amazes me they’re still letting Nellie coach in GS and that they still don’t get this small ball crap ain’t gonna work….the cats have been playing Felton over DJ, so either they’re showcasing him or these rumors are dead wrong.

    • Kid Presto Posted: Dec.20 at 1:05 am
Raymond on the block? uh…duh. DJ out there nashin these point guards out here lately. I knew felton was gone when they called DJ’s name at the draft. he just looks more collected and ready than felton. a rookie? yes, this boy is going to be the truth in the next couple of years. fly society in the house.

    • WADEE Posted: Dec.20 at 9:50 pm
no way.. warriors do not need another guard.. especially if the trade is involving one of the forwards.. why give up a forward for a guard when we already have so many?? its pointless. warriors should trade for a forward or develop the big guys. the guards are fine right now. when monta comes back, too many guards. position fighting will happen.

    • Ben Posted: Dec.20 at 9:52 pm
      Don’t give up Wright
      It’s not worth it

    • BETCATS Posted: Dec.21 at 8:07 pm
“Nbk Posted: Dec.19 at 3:06 pm
if he wasn’t then Felton would play the point on offense and augustin would play the 2 ” No stupid, DJ is too short (5′9-5′11 depending who you belive) and not as strong compared to Raymond. And Raymond has found his niche, Larry Brown wanted DJ because Larry Brown likes having a 2 pg backcourt since his ‘Knicks’ Days (Steve Frances + Stephon Marbury = LB Wet Dream at the time). Raymod was always doing good, but nobody watched the Bobcats, and Bernie Binkerstaff got replaced as Coach before he could delvolpe him, Sam Vincent tried to ruin his career with his insane rotations (Boykins at SG makes me suffer from post traumatic stress disorder to this day), and Larry Brown doesnt resepct him. Its a damm shame nobody understands what a talent Raymond is, and in G-State he will flourish if he goes their. Brandon Wright would also be a good Bobcat, but stop re-writting history Rod Higgins! We traded him, i dont know if getting him back is a good thing to do unless we plan on using him (which is unlikely seeing Okafor-Diaw-Howard-Hollins-Ajinca rotation has chemistry) but its the team’s call, i would be happy with it. And i would be extremley happy to watch yall eat your words when Felton shows up big time in G-State. Just watch, see, and dont steal snacks before hand because you will eat them words.

    • rikson Posted: Dec.22 at 4:32 am
      cosign: betcats

    • Nbk Posted: Dec.22 at 11:55 am
I have been saying all along bet that felton is better then he is being advertised as. But i have also been saying that augustin is a better point which he is, if felton was better then augustin with the ball then augustin would play the 2, it does not matter how short you are on offense, and its not like felton overwhelms anyone with his size when he is playing the two. The reason Augustin plays the one is because he is a better playmaker then Felton, if he werent then Felton would have the ball. And he has not found his niche a niche is not something you have when your being shopped around, its when your comfortable and playing to your potential. And you and I both know Raymond Felton has not played to his potential at all in his NBA career.
