We’re not quite sure if this is Dwyane Wade’s MVP season, but we sure do know what Emeka Okafor is good for: Posters.

Wow. Slamadamonth and now this? Emeka’s all over the place!

  • kev Posted: Dec.9 at 8:28 am
    damn!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wade is nasty!

  • kev Posted: Dec.9 at 8:29 am
putting his bid in for that top spot

  • namik Posted: Dec.9 at 8:30 am
Best player in the NBA? Not yet. But mostly because of his team. He’s back for real. Although 41 points to beat the Cats? Not good. Beasley can’t mature fast enough…

  • Kieran Posted: Dec.9 at 8:34 am
    Dont jump son!

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 8:45 am
I love this slamadaday lets make it a mainstay! oh emeka… you’re getting the wade treatment

  • davidR Posted: Dec.9 at 8:46 am
gotdamn! the rebound, splitting the defenders, beating the whole team 1 vs 5, then the slam. unbelievable

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 8:57 am
Yeah, to think if he wasn’t the 9th best player in the league….you know according to the SLAM Top 50.

  • Cheryl Posted: Dec.9 at 9:01 am
I almost fell off the couch when I saw that one last night. It was nasty at full speed, but then when you see it in slo-mo, daaayum!

  • LexaB Posted: Dec.9 at 9:12 am
Wow… just wow… classic Dwyane… Mr. Wade is back in full force, thats for sure!!!

  • Jukai Posted: Dec.9 at 9:17 am
    He carried the ball

  • 王骁男 Posted: Dec.9 at 9:18 am
    bully bobcats?

  • adams Posted: Dec.9 at 9:19 am
    Right on that gigantic okaforehead!

  • Jolst Posted: Dec.9 at 9:20 am
did he just say best player in the nba?

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:23 am
League leader in scoring at 28.9 per game, 7th is assists at 7.7 per, 11th in blocks at 1.75, 3rd in steals at 2.4 per. Hard to argue….

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 9:25 am
Eboy, i can argue with this: his team sucks. Wade is forced to do that much on a sh*tty team. Kobe’s offensive production is down because there are legit scorers all over the roster.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:28 am
Justin, while I normally think you are of supreme intelligence when it comes to entertaining comments and sufficient basketball knowledge, you sir, are a simpleton this morning. :) The Heat are far from “suck” status at the moment….and defending Kobe, who isn’t even the 4th best player in the league at the moment, is pretty silly on your part.

  • LexaB Posted: Dec.9 at 9:28 am
I just love Dwyane’s game and moves, but gotta cosign Justin on that one… Wade is forced to put up those huge numbers in that team!!

  • LexaB Posted: Dec.9 at 9:29 am
Which doesnt mean he’s not a great great great player, of course

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:30 am
Or again, you could just re-read the stats I posted and conjur up some magical cure-all to why he isn’t the best PLAYER in the league, not the best guy on the best TEAM.

  • drew Posted: Dec.9 at 9:30 am
i didnt know lebron and kobe left the nba

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:31 am
Uhm…….yes……you are both right. It’s the holiday season, I can’t be mad.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:32 am
Wow….I’m almost glad I haven’t been around that often.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 9:38 am
Eboy, your point is just, but may I ask who are the 3rd and 2nd best players in the league, if Kobe isn’t in the top 3? Another reason I am not the biggest Wade fan: He averages damn near 4 turnovers a game. He is second in the league in Turnovers, only behind Ste. Jackson. Other top NBA players: Lebron is 29th in turnovers, Kobe is 36th in turnovers. Eboy, I welcome your response as always. And thank you for a better backhanded compliment than Nash gave Amare a few nights back

  • Mo Charlo Posted: Dec.9 at 9:41 am
At least Emeka has his degree to fall back on.

  • Ryne Nelson Posted: Dec.9 at 9:41 am
The Heat are *much* better this season than I thought they’d be, Eboy. They’re impressing me. Oh, and I think the MVP voting will finish in this order: Bron, Wade, Kobe.

  • thesubwayconnection Posted: Dec.9 at 9:42 am
    Vicious.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 9:42 am
Ryne, I agree with you on the MVP voting this year, but the MVP rarely is the best player anymore *steve nash and dirk anyone*

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:46 am
Well, if you go off the first 20 games of the season, the best PLAYERS, not teams, are Wade, Bron, Bosh in that order. The season is still very long and sure Kobe has been wildly efficient, but he doesn’t have to do all that he used to have to do….you know when he was the stat stuffer instead of the win grabber….like the three guys I mentioned have to do. Their TEAMS dictate their style, that’s not their fault for having to do everything to make their teams competitive. It just so happens that all of a sudden the Cavs seem pertinent. I’d back off the statement about Wade if the Heat were….I don’t know…..2-19…like last season…but they are in the playoff mix and they are winning games regulary. For a team with a scoring roster like the Heat have….that’s pretty impressive….and that all falls on his shoulders. Kobe’s done that a few times in his career, no? And he was always in the top player discussion because of it, yes? Yes is the answer…if you are unsure. :)

  • caeubona Posted: Dec.9 at 9:46 am
i love the dunk. but i didn’t agree with the announcer: best player in the nba. i mean, lebron is still around, is he? as is kobe. i’m sure those two will have something to say about that.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 9:52 am
Eboy, excellent point. And personally, I never said Wade wasnt a top player… Just not number one. And Bosh is playing bonkers this year, but for my money the best players in top 3 are Bron Wade Kobe. Through 20 games of course. And we can have the team dictates style discussion but Regardless when the majority of plays are called for one player, he does what he wants. Ala Kobe before the Gasol trade. Wade is in the top discussion, but he needs to stop turning it over 4 times a game. Because his 7.75 assists are totally cut in half (more than half technically) due to those turnovers. If we go by a +/- stat, he averages 29, about 4 assists and 5 boards. Still amazing, but hes not fully utilizing the 7.75 assists.

  • adams Posted: Dec.9 at 9:55 am
    1.Bron
    2.Wade
    3.Dwight
    4.Dirk/Bosh/CP3/Kobe

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 9:56 am
Uhm….Justin…..you do see who Wade has to pass the ball to, right? With the exception of Beasley, there really isn’t a player with great hands on the roster, and Wade and Beasley are playing very few minutes together. It’s surprising that the turnover number isn’t 8.6 a game, honestly.

  • Darksaber Posted: Dec.9 at 10:00 am
Ohhhhh shiattt! direct, and utter facial. with a windup and straight down the lane. AWE-SOME Dunk (although i still prefer the tomahawk he put on Jermaine a few playoffs ago and any number of moves he had in the championship winning 06 playoffs). Flash is nasty good so far, but i fear for his health once again. 38, 41 point games to beat teams like the thunder or the B-cats? surely you’d want the others to contribute more, especially against weaker opponents? This early season scoring binge might just come back to bite him in the butt later in the season, even Bron and Mambiatch have dialeed back their high scoring ways (sure, they have more help, still..) seemingly in preparation for the marathon season ahead.

  • Simon S.Y Lawy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:01 am
    1.MR.81
    2.LeBoomm
    3.D-wade, Superman
    4.cp3,D.will…….

  • Darksaber Posted: Dec.9 at 10:01 am
    apropos, where Betcats at? ;-)

  • Simon S.Y Lawy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:04 am
MR.24 and LeBoomm will easily crack his scoring stat if both of ‘em want to…, i’m not a Leboomm fan, but he’s better than wade, not to say Kobe…

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:05 am
Chalmers has the ability to shoot the 3 just fine, Haslem is suitable enough to catch a pass and reset the offense or drive in for a jumper in the lane. Marion’s production is way down but he’s still averaging 12.5, and has the verteran ability to not totally screw the offense over by catching a pass. Let’s just admit Wade plays too aggressive for the offense sometimes, and even when Kobe played on a helpless lakers team when he averages 35 with less help than wade had *third best player was SMUSH PARKER* he only got to 3 turnovers.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:08 am
The triangle precludes that Justin (lack of turnovers, that is). Don’t try me, kid. :)

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:11 am
Eboy, you are a formidable opponent. But on that squad, NOBODY KNEW THE TRIANGLE OFFENSE! It’s a known fact of triangle lore that it takes years to know the offense, that roster was mostly newcomers, youngins, and newly traded players with no triangle knowledge. With the exception of Odom and MAYBE Devean George, nobody but Kobe knew WTF was going on in the triangle. At least concede that point, Darth Eboy. I am a Jedi, like Charles Barkley before me.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:19 am
I’ll give you that, but I know Phil’s presence keeps dudes on their toes from training camp to the end of the season, meaning, making mistakes in his system is a huge misgiving and will keep your ass glued to the bench. I’m not sure if Eric Spoelstra has that type of swag over this Heat team just yet like the Zen Master.

  • Adrian Posted: Dec.9 at 10:20 am
Eboy - top 5 MVP candidates in your opinion at the moment?

  • Adrian Posted: Dec.9 at 10:21 am
Btw - it’s been about 9 months since I’ve commented on this site, good to see the same commentators still up and about haha.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:24 am
Welcome back to the motherland Adrian! Eboy- nice discussion. I think we’ve run both points to their course. Out of curiosity, what are your thoughts on Marion becoming lackluster now?

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:24 am
    Adrian,
    in no particular order: Lebron
    Wade
    24
    Bosh
    The Robot

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:25 am
Justin, I hated the move from the first day. I don’t miss Shaq’s contract, but I don’t enjoy the ugliest shot in basketball being on the squad I cheer for. Plus he’s really not the same dude he was, even just a season and a half ago. It sucks.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:26 am
The Robot? haha I nominate Brother Redbush into the MVP discussion.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 10:28 am
If it wasn’t for Timmy while the foreign contignet was out, the Spurs would be the Thunder.

  • Todd Spehr Posted: Dec.9 at 10:28 am
    29 - 5 - 7 - 1.5 - 2 … that looks awfully familiar

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:29 am
I despise it as well, but in my view it isn’t the ugliest- At least Marion’s shot looks the same every time; When Harongody from Notre Dame gets to the NBA, he will be the ugliest shot ever. WAIT, I forgot Cole Aldrich at KU, when HE gets to the league it will be the worst ever. When Cole shoots, he makes Marion’s shot look like string music

  • Adrian Posted: Dec.9 at 10:29 am
    No CP3 love Eboy?

  • Slick Nick Da Ruler Posted: Dec.9 at 10:37 am
Tim Duncan for real. They say he’s losing athleticism, but his game is aging gracefully. He’s the blueprint for franchise players respectfully dominating and getting wins.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:42 am
Slick: His game is based off of near perfect fundamentals so when he ages losing athleticism, it doesn’t affect him as much

  • Slick Nick Da Ruler Posted: Dec.9 at 10:50 am
Exactly my point, Robot is still effective, dependable, and reliable. Im scared thinking about Amare & Dwight’s game when the hops disappear.

  • Slick Nick Da Ruler Posted: Dec.9 at 10:53 am
Also, Eboy maintains that D Wade is the MVP candidate right now, and its hard to argue against. With LA being so strong, have we seen Kobe’s best? If so, can his game mature to Duncan’s level? I dont think so, because Kobe has the insufferable ego needed to being an MVP/HOF caliber player, and the same ego will not let him relinquish the spotlight to another capable player.

  • riggs Posted: Dec.9 at 10:58 am
“wade has to put up those numbers being on a sh*tty team” if he wasnt great then he wouldnt even put up those numbers at all….

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 10:59 am
riggs, I’m not denying his greatness. I’m merely stating Kobe and BronBron have a higher greatness.

  • Earl K. Sneed Posted: Dec.9 at 11:14 am
I agree with Ryne on the MVP voting…but I was on record saying that D-Wade was back this summer better than ever

  • BETCATS Posted: Dec.9 at 11:16 am
it was nice. But lets keep this ‘fair and balanced’ like Fox ‘News’. Okafor had a MONSTER rejection on Beasley, sent the ball half way across the court

  • ti-sizz Posted: Dec.9 at 11:16 am
i think the announcer just means he’s the best player in the NBA according to his stats at this moment.. they are pretty impressive right? especially with the blocks from his position, the great fg% and the assists. i do think lebron is better at dominating and putting a game away, and kobe perhaps. but right now, wade’s the only one needing to do that, and should be recognized as the best player at this moment (his team has gone 5-1 since he picked up the scoring)

  • BETCATS Posted: Dec.9 at 11:18 am
and Okafor had 10 strait points in the 3rd, yet Raymond Felton and DJ froze him out in the 4th so they could shoot and miss as many 3s as possible. He could have had another great game, but 19 and 12 aint too bad.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 11:21 am
    HAHA @ BELoser.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 11:30 am
ti sizz, also look at who the heat have played in the last 6 games of the 5-1 wade scoring streak. And if we bring up his offensive stats into why the announcer can say hes the best in the game period i just say hes 2nd in the NBA in TURNOVERS with 4 per game and he loses that lines legitimacy. He also ranks #1 in total turnovers. His last 6 games include the clippers, the bobcats, the thunder, the warriors and phoenix. one really solid team in the jazz. So yeah the announcer is still off to me

  • BETCATS Posted: Dec.9 at 11:33 am
Haha@ the heat only being able to beat the Cats when our best player isnt their. El Oh El

  • Zee! Posted: Dec.9 at 11:33 am
If the Heat make the playoffs, then Wade getting the MVP has to be a foregone conclusion. I’m sure we all agree on that. But if they don’t and Wade is still putting up stat line like he is now, it’ll be all for naught. Sucks how those things work out sometimes. Ask Kobe.

  • BETCATS Posted: Dec.9 at 11:34 am
And Micheal Beasly: How does Emeka’s a$$ taste?

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 11:35 am
ah, BETcats, you are sunshine on a cloudy day.

  • Zee! Posted: Dec.9 at 11:35 am
And Kobe and Bron should be ranked 1 and 2 respectively. Alternating the spots randomly.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 11:36 am
and ZEE i dont think it’s a forgone conclusion, I am a staunch Bron detractor but LBJ will win the MVP barring some crazy injury. Most people have conceded that in my view. Also, BOSH is playing bonkers as is Kobe, so the MVP is not a Wade trophy case addition yet.

  • Eboy Posted: Dec.9 at 11:38 am
Uhm, I think Beasley’s rejected shot was the only positive thing Okafor did on defense last night…..because he’s garbage.

  • Tyrone Shoelaces Posted: Dec.9 at 12:44 pm
I think dude over at the NBA Video described this dunk best, “my grandmama gave me that chain!” hahah

  • Cizzo Posted: Dec.9 at 12:46 pm
    What had happen was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Cizzo Posted: Dec.9 at 12:46 pm
    What had happen was!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • Anton Posted: Dec.9 at 1:04 pm
where are all the “OMG he’s travelling!” comments?
y’all don’t seem to have a problem posting them when LeBron takes 2 steps.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.9 at 1:13 pm
Anton, Wade is already called out for carrying the ball in that slash move he does by every commenter in SLAM. Also NBA coaches are talking about it as well. It’s been spoken for. No coaches admit LeBron travels, they just pretend it doesn’t happen. That’s why. I’d just sit back and enjoy the DUUUNK

  • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.9 at 1:25 pm
“Whats an Okafor?” was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw that dunk. Well, right after “Holy Sh*t!” Dwade is doing his damn thing this season.

  • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.9 at 1:28 pm
I think “Bron, Wade, Kobe”, in that order, is pretty accurate as the top 3 guys in the league. Although, I might be placing Dwight Howard or bosh ahead of Kobe by year’s end.

  • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.9 at 1:29 pm
Wow. I completely forgot about CP3. Kobe really is like 4th now. Love it.

  • Josh D Posted: Dec.9 at 2:19 pm
    Get out of the way!!!

  • $tev3 Posted: Dec.9 at 4:06 pm
    I H0PE N0 1 SAID THIS
    WATS AN 0KAF0R ?
    F0R DUNKING 0N SILLY

  • witness Posted: Dec.9 at 4:19 pm
remember when delfino posterized him? that was sad.

  • Moose Posted: Dec.9 at 5:35 pm
If he had a good, winning team, this would be his MVP season. LeBron is tough to get by, and I’m not saying he would. But right now he’s averaging 29.5, 7.5 and 5. With 2.3 steals and 1.7 blocks to boot. Dude is BACK.

  • el Posted: Dec.9 at 7:26 pm
    bad fundamentals,
    should’ve used his left

  • Roy Posted: Dec.9 at 7:56 pm
Damn! That was sick dunk by D-Wade!!! Really awesome!!! :D

  • Roy Posted: Dec.9 at 7:57 pm
Damn! That was a sick dunk by D-Wade!!! Really awesome!!! :D

  • aotearaw Posted: Dec.9 at 9:15 pm
Dunk was naaaaassty, D-Wade is the best player to watch in the NBA right now IMO…and I love having him on my fantasy squad ;-)

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Dec.9 at 9:27 pm
    Great poster.

  • Darksaber Posted: Dec.9 at 10:32 pm
Walk? granted, he carries the ball a lot, and like a lot of guys in the league, he tends to take an extra step once in a while. BUT NOT ON THIS DUNK. 1-2, BOOM! (and during the olympics, where the cameras where slightly closer than most nba games, i was highly impressed with Flash’s ability to NOT travel. watch him in those)

  • jose Posted: Dec.9 at 10:35 pm
“best player in the nba just dunked on okafor” awesome. truly awesome

  • KA Posted: Dec.10 at 12:03 am
    he carried that s**t!

  • lance Posted: Dec.10 at 12:05 am
wow emeka’s getting dunked on by everyone.. who’s next? chris duhon?

  • Costa Posted: Dec.10 at 12:10 am
Let me just mention this if Wade keeps this up for the season and the Heat make the playoffs i believe there is no doubt in my mind he should be MVP. I believe he should keep this intensity for the rest of the season as it progresses. First ofall coming from the worst record to an above .500 team makes a strong case. Lebron with similar stats last n this year but role players are stepping up. Lakers got phil Jackson as a Coach and a great team around Kobe. Heat got a rookie coach put that together, WADE SHOULD BE MVP OF THE SEASON! Oh, and for all of you guys stating the Heat suck… Watch some games before you make yourselves sound ignorant.

  • nastierthanyou Posted: Dec.10 at 8:44 am
Very Jordan esq splitting the double team and causing trouble at the rim. Well done
