Video: Derrick Rose Absolutely Destroys Andre Miller

by Marcel Mutoni

No words can do these two plays from last night’s Bulls/Sixers game justice. As such, here’s the video for your viewing pleasure. Matter of fact, D-Rose was so nice that we had to show him twice:

“Somebody shot Andre Miller…Is Lee Harvey in the building?” Hilarious.

The only way this night could have been worse is if Andre Miller came home to find Derrick Rose in his bed.

  • mike Posted: Dec.1 at 1:38 pm
ive fallen and i cant get up…funny stuff

  • Pve84 Posted: Dec.1 at 1:41 pm
WHOA. That was an extra-strength cross…but at least Miller was brave enough to make a solid effort. I’m sure he is just the first of many to fall victim to D. Rose’s handle.

  • Allenp Posted: Dec.1 at 1:44 pm
That’s an old school Iverson crossover right there.
Miller actually sat directly down on his butt. No slipping or anyting, he just fell because his legs stopped working.
    That’s hardcore.

  • B. Long Posted: Dec.1 at 1:49 pm
    Gawd damn.

  • Jason Posted: Dec.1 at 1:50 pm
WOOOW. Andre was even laying off him a few feet and Rose still blew by him.

  • rubs93 Posted: Dec.1 at 1:52 pm
CHITOWN stand up n reporesent!! D Rose baby! he’s gonna need a nickname any suggestions?

  • Co Co Posted: Dec.1 at 1:53 pm
    Too cute.

  • Ben Osborne Posted: Dec.1 at 1:56 pm
Derrick Rose=MUCH better than I expected (and I mean no disrespect). He is pretty much unguardable already. And a sick passer. And a good defender. My Mike Beasley ROY pick is not looking too hot right now.

  • Pro Posted: Dec.1 at 2:00 pm
    Ben I’m with you 100% and I’m a Heat fan… Damn.

  • Rich Posted: Dec.1 at 2:04 pm
From the Chi, I represent! Rose is the real deal. That crossover was sickening. Miller coulda really broken his left ankle. Rose is cooler than a fan, no lie. My little brother went to high school with him. But it’s just a sign of things to come. Before that cross, he blocked Miller’s layup, that was crazy too. That cross gotta be named, ‘Rosebud’.

  • Chris Ujma Posted: Dec.1 at 2:09 pm
er…anyone else going to mention that Dalembert blocked his shot? a.k.a, he didn’t put the ball in the hoop, which is the object of the game of basketball? which really signature stamps the problem with NBA ‘playas’ today that they would rather lose and look good than score, be winners, and look plain. This guy will have a ton of highlight reel and good luck to him looking flashy and impressing his homeboys, but dude will have no ring by the time he is done

  • tealish Posted: Dec.1 at 2:10 pm
If he develops his outside shooting, he will become an absolute monster and possibly challenge CP3 and Deron in 3 years for the best 1 in the L.

  • Pro Posted: Dec.1 at 2:15 pm
    Chris wasn’t it a goaltend?

  • Pve84 Posted: Dec.1 at 2:16 pm
Chris, I felt the same way at first…there’s no need for hoopla if the shot itself doesn’t go in, but it was ruled goaltending, so all the hoopla is validated. Give Rose his due.

  • Pve84 Posted: Dec.1 at 2:18 pm
Now that I think of it, Miller owes Dalembert some serious thanks because if that shot would have sailed in cleanly, it would have only done further damage to Miller.

  • gman75 Posted: Dec.1 at 2:24 pm
    NASTY!

  • jaymes Posted: Dec.1 at 2:40 pm
Chris, bit early to say he’ll go without a ring aint it? He’s been in the L for 5 minutes and looked good..Relax and enjoy talent when you see it dude…

  • Hoop Dreamz Posted: Dec.1 at 2:40 pm
That was mean Derrick… but disrespect for elders is my M.O. too… damn!

  • Hoop Dreamz Posted: Dec.1 at 2:44 pm
Y’all Americans got cool ways of sayin’ stuff like this, but in Toronto, the correct slang term is “Rose ate his FOOD!” LOL

  • CHI TOWN Posted: Dec.1 at 2:52 pm
Chris, D. Rose has been a winner since back in HS, so check his resume before you say “lose and look good than score, be winners, and look plain.” actually, he could average in mid 20’s per game if he was about the flash and highlights, he dumbs down his game to get his teammates involved. His moves are not “flashy” but natural. ROY and best PG in the league in 2 yrs! CHI TOWN!

  • RV Posted: Dec.1 at 3:17 pm
the crossover itself wasn’t even that good, it’s his amazing ability to to go from 60 to 0 in like half a second that made that happen. Not many guys have the body control this guy has, it’s insane.

  • vmcb Posted: Dec.1 at 3:18 pm
hoop dreamz is making ish up

  • RV Posted: Dec.1 at 3:20 pm
and the commentary on the first video is awful…i can’t even see Gooden’s face clearly, but i can tell his eyes popped out of their sockets.

  • what Posted: Dec.1 at 3:21 pm
Rose is the truth. 8th round pick by me in my fantasy league. I’m guessing he was just as much of a steal in most other leagues too.

  • Joey E. Posted: Dec.1 at 3:42 pm
yeah Rose is freakin’ AMAZING. I love this dude.
check this out guys. It’s a GIF of the crossover. and in slo-mo too. makes you just go “WOW” http://i444.photobucket.com/albums/qq167/Hoopsoup/rosecrossover.gif

  • Allenp Posted: Dec.1 at 3:45 pm
    Chris.
Dalembert goaltended. That’s why play stopped and they ran back down the court.

  • ClydeSays Posted: Dec.1 at 3:50 pm
You need to watch a Bulls game if you haven’t this season. Hard to say how good he is. Del Negro just seems to have no plans and lets Rose run wild, esp. in the 2nd half of games. That 4th quarter performance over the Jazz, though… Crazy.

  • tripledouble Posted: Dec.1 at 4:18 pm
So cool to see him doing so well, it’s always sick when a new cat arrives on the scene. Boom!

  • MIkey Posted: Dec.1 at 4:20 pm
Since he destroyed andre miller his nickname should be “the destroyer”

  • Scoop Posted: Dec.1 at 4:21 pm
ridiculous. respect is paid. ’nuff said

  • TADOne Posted: Dec.1 at 4:52 pm
Right now, i’m dreading Rose going against the Pistons in the Central Division for next several seasons. Dude is a beast.

  • Justin Walsh Posted: Dec.1 at 5:15 pm
using a lee harvey oswald reference in a crossover makes me so happy

  • Keith Posted: Dec.1 at 5:19 pm
    Urgh..

  • Steelweezy Posted: Dec.1 at 5:19 pm
    Salty boy Andre

  • jay Posted: Dec.1 at 5:27 pm
chris watch the video again it was goaltending. and that cross-over was not flashy it was just his ability to change gears in half a second that made miller fall. oh yah they won the game by the way.

  • Maurice Garland Posted: Dec.1 at 5:33 pm
man, please tell me ya’ll peeped Dalembert’s look of disgust with Miller in the second video…

  • Hursty Posted: Dec.1 at 5:45 pm
I was kinda hoping for a dunk… but damn. That was ridiculous. That kid can accelerate, my goodness.

  • slamfan4life Posted: Dec.1 at 5:46 pm
this guy is amazing, stupid Dalemburt ruined the damn play for him……i guess he just got pissed a rc was rockin his teammate =)

  • Moose Posted: Dec.1 at 6:19 pm
The ankle breaker was sick. But, because Dalembert blocked the shot and Rose didn’t score, it didn’t count.

  • DALLAS STOKES Posted: Dec.1 at 6:21 pm
    CHI TOWN STAND UP!!!

  • SchW Posted: Dec.1 at 6:31 pm
like y´all didi not expect that… this boy or should I say man is special… I watched almost
every game in his college and you could just see that he was playin for the sistem not for his fame… and when u see his interviews… he is just so humble… it makes me really proud of him… how come that one of this new age athletic figures could be so down to earth… He will once lead the league… I dont say in points or assits but by his demeanor to be all that he can be… and that is a lot!!!!!!! one

  • ciolkstar Posted: Dec.1 at 6:34 pm
Derrick Rose just has so much juice its not even funny. His handle isn’t THAT amazing but the chage of direction and body control he showed there is on pace with ANYONE in the L.

  • RV Posted: Dec.1 at 6:43 pm
    moose..goaltending..

  • Roy Posted: Dec.1 at 7:05 pm
    Nasty…. that’s all I can say… :D

  • Onions Baby Onions Posted: Dec.1 at 9:29 pm
Did Miller get any x-rays done after the game? MRI maybe?
    @King david- agreed

  • Gumdrop Posted: Dec.1 at 9:45 pm
Yeah that was great. EXCEPT THAT ROSE GOT HIS SHOT BLOCKED!

  • Gumdrop Posted: Dec.1 at 9:46 pm
Just kidding, I just wanted one more dink to not realize that it was a goaltend.

  • Dacre Posted: Dec.1 at 9:48 pm

  • Tommy Vercetti Posted: Dec.1 at 10:09 pm
What did Andre Miller do to Derrick Rose to warrant that kind of treatment? That crossover was filthy and that block was wow.

  • Ball Dont Lie Posted: Dec.1 at 10:21 pm
    meeeeeddddddiiiiiccc!!! ROSE4ROY

  • shakobe22 Posted: Dec.1 at 11:10 pm

    made my day

  • airs Posted: Dec.1 at 11:46 pm
    THATS MY BOY

  • KA Posted: Dec.2 at 12:34 am
hey chris it was a goaltend!!!…just in case you missed it. i was more impressed by the block. i mean, beating dre of the dribble? dude, its dre miller. also dre, this is why weve been telling you to dunk that sh*t. that was for the fast break layup in your rookie game.

  • Darksaber Posted: Dec.2 at 12:59 am
Niiiice, indeed. Would have been more impressed if it hadn’t been good ‘ol Andre. Catching CP3, Billups or even TP-Longoria like that would have made me check into the loony house. The layup he blocked though….nasty!

  • chintao Posted: Dec.2 at 2:09 am
    @ Maurice Garland ==> That’s what I was thinking.

  • windowlicker_son Posted: Dec.2 at 2:36 am
Reminds me of D. Wade, scary good.

  • mat smith Posted: Dec.2 at 4:42 am
    shake and bake

  • Dohn Kee Posted: Dec.2 at 4:54 am
That reminded me of when AI rocked MJ his rookie year.. nasty…and I’m from Chicago.. Chicago Basketball is back and how about the oop that Gordon threw him on the break..sick !!!

  • nastierthanyou Posted: Dec.2 at 8:00 am
Didn’t Sam Dalembert throw his s**t as well. Nice cross no doubt but finish the play.

  • kev Posted: Dec.2 at 11:48 am
im a sixers fan and i still went crazy when i saw it the other night.

  • kev Posted: Dec.2 at 11:49 am
points counted too, it as a goal tend

  • degeneral Posted: Dec.2 at 5:30 pm
chris wrote: “This guy will have a ton of highlight reel and good luck to him looking flashy and impressing his homeboys”. BY ALL ACCOUNTS, d.rose is a nice humble kid and really only cares about winning. do some homework before you attempt to assassinate his character. he just made a basketball play - you don’t see him pounding his chest or woofing to the crowd.

  • qwsdfsdf Posted: Dec.5 at 12:42 am
Laying a hand down is one thing, but getting sat down on your butt like you got shoved down makes this extra strength cross ridiculous. The magic wasn’t really the cross (everyone already knows this dude already has one of the best 1st steps in the league), it was the set up where he worked Dre side to side. If only D rose slammed it home, even Andre’s wife would be calling Derrick’s name at night. MAJOR OWNAGE!
