Dunk Fans Have Spoken, and They Want Rudy

The Blazers’ Fernandez is headed to Phoenix: “Fernandez won the voting over Milwaukee’s Joe Alexander and Oklahoma City’s Russell Westbrook. Fernandez will compete against reigning dunk champion Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, as well as New York’s Nate Robinson and Memphis forward Rudy Gay.”

    I like Rudy but he doesn’t belong anywhere near the Dunk Contest. Neither did Joe Alexander though, and Westbrook’s best dunks are in games, in traffic. Not sure how this is going to work out. But, I’m pretty sure it’ll atleast be funny.

    The best thing for the NBA is to grab Joe, Fernandez, and two other guys who look white enough, and just have a dunk contest between them. I’d watch it.

    laaame. i dont think westbrook or fernandez can do much besides an impressive IN-GAME throwdown. what’s he gonna do…a 180?
    at least alexander is tall and has good technique but i think the options were pretty limited. hopefully next year will have a better crop

    I still have no clue why the NBA can’t institute some kind of voting system similar to the All-Star game in dunk contests. just have it instead of the league’s decision to leave players off the ballot, make it the player’s decision. Kobe doesn’t want to be in the dunk contest? fine, don’t have his name on the ballot. It would be alot more entertaining and, no offense to any of the rooks, get who the fans REALLY want to see in this contest.

    what exactly has Rudy done besides catching alley oops? I don’t get why people are excited he won over alexander, at least he’s shown he can do well in a dunk contest….if anyone has some rudy contest type dunks post a link..
