Fractured Hand Knocks ‘Melo Out at Least 3 Weeks

by Marcel Mutoni

Looks like the prayers in Denver weren’t answered.

First the bad news: Carmelo Anthony will miss at least three weeks due to a hand fracture. That sucks for both him and his surging team.

And now, the (relatively) good news: He won’t need to go under the knife. More from the Rocky Mountain News:

“I’m playing it by ear,” Anthony said. “The next couple of weeks, just get some rest, some treatment. The good news is I didn’t have to get no surgery on it. Hopefully, the healing process will be a lot quicker.’’

Of wearing the splint, Melo said, “I can take it off and on. It’s not a full cast. It’s a splint. But I’ll be all right.”

If ever there was a time for Chauncey to prove that he’s an MVP candidate, as his coach claimed earlier this season, this would be it.

A great player would take advantage of this and work on dribbling drills, etc. with their non-injured hand.
Melo will probably play videogames in his car, causing another ironic accident.

Yeah Anton, There’s Only Enough Hours In 3 Weeks To Avoid Everything Related To Basketball-Related And Play Videogames While Driving. You’re Right Though, This Is A Perfect Opportunity To Work On His Crab Dribble.

Dammit! Looks like Kevin Durant is going to get plenty of minutes at the SF on my fantasy roster.

Well, well, guess Karl’s lucky he has the playa President Chauncey on his squad right? Three weeks with more minutes for Kleiza / Smith might not be such a bad thing….in bizarro world Denver, that is.

Melo said that he is going to work on his left hand while out of the lineup. If he holds true to his word, he could come back stronger than before. Scary.

Who’s the big winner here (fantasy-wise):
    JR Smith or Linas Kleiza?
I have a feeling GK doesn’t exactly want to hand the keys to JR just yet, and Kleiza has played very well in limited minutes recently. Any other thoughts, inside info, etc…

Moose, first of all, I am devoutly anti-guns/killing living things.

Secondly, I follow/cover/analyze the Nuggets, but don’t live and die by their wins and losses. Oddly enough, i am much less of a fan (after five years of closely covering the team)now than when i was a kid.

Like I mentioned yesterday, if this was Jay Cutler breaking a right hand, then I may be calling up my “armed” friends.
