Frustrated Chris Bosh Throws Jamario Moon Under the Bus

by Marcel Mutoni

Disastrous. That seems like the appropriate word to describe the Toronto Raptors’ season up to this point. The losses keep mounting, as does the frustration. And the team’s star is voicing his displeasure again.

This time around, it wasn’t the booing home fans who got a verbal lashing from Chris Bosh; the honor last night instead fell to his defensively-inept teammate, Jamario Moon.

From the Toronto Star:

After Moon blew a defensive assignment with about 90 seconds left that ultimately ended with a Joe Johnson free throw that got Atlanta within one, Bosh went off on his teammate in front of the bench. And he didn’t back off when asked about it after the game.

“Watch the film. He gives him a straight line to the basket,” said Bosh. “Joe Johnson. All-star. Whatever you want to call him, one of the best players or two-guards in the league and you give him a straight line? You can’t.”

“That’s the mental thing we are talking about. We’re up by two. If he hits the jump shot and you contest it as good as you can, what are we going to say? But don’t give him a straight-line drive. He’s too talented for that. He’s too good for that and that’s what made me upset.”

Bosh is well within his rights to be upset, and as the team’s best player, he should be speaking for the group.

But to throw one of your own under the bus like that, with reporters listening? Probably not the ideal move from the team leader.

    interesting team those Raptors

My PO, you never talk about another player to the media. Thats like getting spanked by your parents in front of your friends.

  • Ryan Jones Posted: Jan.20 at 9:04 am
If he’d thrown his teammate under the bus via a clever video posted on YouTube, I think it would’ve been OK.

  • a_whiteman Posted: Jan.20 at 9:13 am
I have no problem with what he did. If you saw the game, he was just letting jj do pretty much whatever he wants. The worst possible thing you could do on defense (aside from not playing it)is give anyone a clear path to the net, let alone the best player on the other team.

Joe The Basketball Player was awesome down the stretch yesterday. His two best shots towards the end of the game were pretty well contested. He was just really really good yesterday.

lol @ the MVP talk early in the season. They will be lucky to reach the playoffs

  • slamfan4life Posted: Jan.20 at 9:53 am
Bosh needs to head to chi so he can team up wit D-rose

  • ciolkstar Posted: Jan.20 at 10:21 am
I’m sure Jamario wasn’t the only guy who didnt defend well last night. Josh Smith had a big night too and was scoring on Bosh pretty easily. He’s probably right about this instance, but that doesn’t mean he should’ve said it to reporters.

So when are we getting Marion?

  • Jess Posted: Jan.20 at 10:37 am
Bosh was frustrated..if you have followed CB since he has entered the L, you know that this is not his style. He must have been very upset to throw Jamario under the bus. Jamario had a distatrous end to the game (as did the rest of the team with regards to the 2nd half) with the Joe Johnson drive and then the VERY questionable 3 in the final minute – but it wasnt just Jamrio that let the Hawks back in the game…it was just Jamrio that went what…like 10-35 in the second half…The Raps need to start winning – they are so much better than their record shows..this is very frustrating for the fans..i could only imagine the players…we need Jose back too – and JO, or if he is getting moved then get it done..move on.

CB4 got outplayed by J-Smoove on both ends of the floor when they were matched up against each other. Most of his production came against Zaza Pachulia. Jamario Moon may have made some bad plays but he certainly wasn’t the only reason they lost that game. The Hawks tried to give it away as hard as they could but the Raptors just wouldn’t have any of it.

dont be that guy chris. Your time will come

  • a_whiteman Posted: Jan.20 at 2:02 pm
I don’t know why there was such high expectations for this team pre season. What exactly did they do to improve in the off season? Because all I remember is we traded all oue depth and our only pick for a guy who plays the same position bosh and bargs play, and we gave away tj cuz god forbid one of our pgs play d and score!!!!

  • Zee! Posted: Jan.20 at 2:09 pm
Bosh is on Auto-pilot after this….Goodbye T-dot, hello NY!!

  • Gumdrop Posted: Jan.20 at 2:10 pm
If Bosh yelled as much at Moon as I did at the TV then good on him.

  • JoeMaMa Posted: Jan.20 at 2:20 pm
We need Bosh here in Toronto. Bargnani is stepping up to be a 20 point/game guy. Obviously we need wings, but if we trade JO for any decent player (I’ll take Marion in a heartbeat) then we’ll be way better.
But he can’t do that to Jamario Mooooooon. Bosh forgot that he got blocked in an isolation position against Joakim Nobody for the game a few nights back.

  • jet Posted: Jan.20 at 2:25 pm
…says the “superstar” that dribbles the ball off his foot with 50 seconds left.

  • LOLERS Posted: Jan.20 at 2:37 pm
bosh needs to look in the mirror.

  • Orlando Green Posted: Jan.20 at 2:41 pm
    DUMB

  • RM Posted: Jan.20 at 2:42 pm
I say we trade CB4 sometime in 2009. Better to get something while his stock is high then lose him for nothing in 2010!!!

  • a_whiteman Posted: Jan.20 at 2:44 pm
@joemama…yeah he did get blocked, but at least the best player on the team was given the chance to finish the game. I’m sure jay triano said ok guys we are gonna give jamario the ball so he can jack up a 3. At that juncture in the game moon has no business taking a sgbgot unless he gets a pass from bosh or even ap or bargs out of a double team.

  • a_whiteman Posted: Jan.20 at 2:47 pm
    *shot

  • Joel O's Posted: Jan.20 at 2:59 pm
Hoho. I hear fickle fans who heralded Bosh after his Beijing run, where he was the most important big man on the team, suddenly heaping damnation on him.

    Hope you Bosh likes Marion

  • wilz Posted: Jan.20 at 3:05 pm
not only did moon suck on D, he threw up a 3 in transition with like 45 seconds left on the clock when the raptors were down only 1. He DEFINITELY takes the blame for this one

  • Cizzo Posted: Jan.20 at 3:11 pm
When someone speak about the defensive side of the game and what they exspect especially if that player is a leader on the team respect it, play the game with pride I feel you CB4 stand on what you say, hold these profesionaly employed players resposible for ther defensive deficecies.

  • wilz Posted: Jan.20 at 3:12 pm
    sorry, 35 seconds

  • Baljit Posted: Jan.20 at 3:49 pm
Dirk did the same thing to Jason Terry in the playoffs on national tv no less a few years ago. Those guy’s in Dallas still play together… it’s not Bosh’s style it was however very necessary Moon was smiling(laughing) nobody else on the team found it funny at all.

  • Blue Posted: Jan.20 at 4:02 pm
Someone should do like Kenny Smith with his “Gone Fishin” pictures in the playoffs…photo shop pictures of different players under a bus…

  • RV Posted: Jan.20 at 4:08 pm
i think Moon confused JJ for Tmac and just wanted to return the favor

  • bearvon Posted: Jan.20 at 4:32 pm
i hope no one watching the game yesterday feels like his shouldnt have “thrown jamario under the bus”… good for chris…now he just needs to put the bus in reverse.

  • The Promise Posted: Jan.20 at 5:33 pm
I dont blame him. He gets paid too much to give up a layup at the end of the game like that. Bosh is the best player on the team, and hes the only reason they are a decent team, so he has all the right in the world to say what he said.

  • fuggbosh Posted: Jan.20 at 5:43 pm
bosh needs to get in opponents face before his teamates .bosh is a pussay.

  • jaymes Posted: Jan.20 at 5:44 pm
It doesn’t matter if Moon had the worst game in NBA history you just don’t rat team mates out to the media. CB probably knows this and just let his frustrations cloud his judgement..

  • dma Posted: Jan.20 at 6:04 pm
this just in chris bosh is a 6’10 jump shooting big man who isn’t all that good and is only considered to be one of the best because he’s the only good guy in toronto. damn this 30 team league making unnecessary superstars.

  • iLL wiLL Posted: Jan.20 at 7:05 pm
Bosh let Nash right by him on Sunday afternoon. Same thing.

  • ClydeSays Posted: Jan.20 at 11:08 pm
Can we agree the Colangelo experiment is over? I do think he had the right idea, he just didn’t stick with it. His trade for JO pretty much took the air out of this team. Like the Suns before them, the Raps might not have been Championship material, but they were going to entertain every night and at least look like a Contender. Now, the half-Suns are bickering and losing and the Raps are doing the same.

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jan.21 at 1:21 am
As much as I’d like Chris Bosh to stay in Toronto, is it safe to say he’s going to New York in 2010?

  • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jan.21 at 1:21 am
    @ dma: You’re kidding. Yes, you’re kidding.

  • Mannie Posted: Jan.21 at 2:00 am
Oh yeah, T.J. Ford was the big issue on this team… BS. You guys got rid of a good friend of mine and a good point guard and now you reap what you sew.

  • CB4 Posted: Jan.21 at 7:11 am
I hope your kidding, either that you dont have a clue

  • apw Posted: Jan.23 at 12:21 pm
The Raptors are just frustrating. They just don’t know how to win….Go Lakers….
