Jason Richardson Accused Of DUI

by Ryne Nelson

Just 30 miles from Charles Barkley’s DUI arrest, Jason Richardson was charged with suspicion of drunk driving. The police officer cited Richardson with a blood alcohol level above .08 and failure to drive in one lane.

The Arizona Republic has the report:

Phoenix Suns guard Jason Richardson was accused by police of driving under the influence of alcohol when he was stopped Dec. 21 by a Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community officer.

Richardson was stopped at 2:48 a.m. at the Loop 101 freeway and Thomas Road, according to citation filed at West Mesa Justice Court. He also was accused of failure to drive in one lane and speeding.

News broke this afternoon, but police stopped JRich on the freeway over two weeks ago. He was driving 10 mph above the speed limit in his 2008 Mercedes Benz.

In related news, Antoine Walker, who was also driving a Mercedes, was arrested at an ungodly hour today on DUI accusations. Seriously, athletes need to learn to call a taxi or have a friend drive them home.

Probably still celebrating the fact that he was traded away from Larry Brown to a team that has a semi decent chance of winning lots of games

  • Bostwik Posted: Jan.5 at 8:51 pm
As a Suns fan, this is disappointing. I always like Jrich, even before he came to Phoenix. Seriously, what’s with all the DUI’s?

  • vmcb Posted: Jan.5 at 10:53 pm
10 over the speed limit? weak sauce.

  • TADOne Posted: Jan.6 at 12:00 am
Mental note to self: stay out of Arizona.

  • Roy Posted: Jan.6 at 12:03 am
This DUI thingy is becoming a trend already… Seems Chuck has already put J-Rich and Shimmy in his fave 5… :D

  • Venom Posted: Jan.6 at 4:01 am
Damn, J is a buddy of mine.
He should have had one of his brothers driving him so this did not happen.
No excuse for this but Arizona seems to have some ridiculous cops out there and their Sheriff is insane.
I can’t believe that this man is allowed to operate.
I would never live, visit or drive anywhere near Arizona.

  • underdog Posted: Jan.6 at 4:20 am
I hope they fine his a$$ big time.

  • Jukai Posted: Jan.6 at 9:49 am
You’re right Venom, how DARE they pull over people driving drunk

  • Khalid Salaam Posted: Jan.6 at 11:03 am
DUI accusation just isn’t news to me. I have zero interest. Please tell me i’m not alone in this thinking.

  • Just A Fan Posted: Jan.6 at 12:33 pm
Not just athletes get DUIs…the media only cares about celebs and DUIs. Too bad they don’t make as big of a deal when regular people drink and drive and KILL other innocent drivers!

  • Orlando Woolridge Posted: Jan.6 at 1:06 pm
I’m with you Khalid. On the other hand, when players crash their cars into parked vehicles because they are masterbating while driving, I would like to be the first to know.

  • Orlando Woolridge Posted: Jan.6 at 1:07 pm
    *masturbating…my bad

  • bates Posted: Jan.6 at 5:17 pm
