Kobe vs. Lebron (Plus: Lakers vs. Cavs, I Guess)

by Marcel Mutoni

If you’ve been paying attention to the NBA and its opinion-makers this season, and I know you have, then you’re probably aware of the fact that LeBron James is the leading candidate to win the MVP award. Just about everyone has come to grips with this. Including, perhaps, his opponent tonight.

If the award was handed out at the All-Star break, Kobe Bryant knows who should get it. From the LA Times:

Bryant seemed mildly uncomfortable when asked for his MVP choice near the season’s halfway point.

“LeBron,” he said. “Leave me alone about that stuff.

Tonight, of course, the Cavs visit the Lakers, in one of the most highly-anticipated matchups of the year. It’s the battle of the League’s two best teams, but even more importantly, its two biggest stars. In other words, David Stern can’t stop smiling.

And you should be smiling, too. This is the kind of game that makes the NBA the world’s greatest League. Enjoy the show.

Whatever. Chuck Hayes won the game for the Rockets. I hope the Cavs win, just so it’s easier to catch up with LA in the West standings.

I would just like to say that rudy fernandez getting voted to the slamdunk contest over joe alexander is pretty D.U.M.B.

  • Krishan

    Oh! And go Lakers!

  • bill breedley

kobe was channeling magic tonight and bron did his best bird. nice lakers win

  • j4zz m4n

yup you cavs got beat after all that trash you were spouting…”cavs by 30″ yeah right and kobe involved his team mates only problem was that monkey king never scored…

  • Krishan

To be fair, there were a number of times lebron got beat up and no calls were made. And LA made a lot of defensive blunders, they really don’t look natural playing the zone and when bynum sits they look even worse. And also: Casey Carlson is HOT.

  • Krishan

And kobe with the “dislocated” finger? He’s FAAAAKIIING IT!

  • Krishan

That was sarcastic. Glad thay won. Wouldn’t be this chipper if I weren’t. :)

  • catalan

    no kobe. no lebron. pau.

good win for the Lakers tonight…i was worried about the 4th Q cause they have been losing the grip on the games in the 4th. but solid show by the bench….btw that Bron wipe of Sasha’s weak layup was ridiculous….
hope he finger dislocation is not too bad…without Kobe the Lakers are dunzo…plus i want to watch him in the all star game…dont want a repeat of last year

    LAKERS=08-09 CHAMPS

  • Jackie Moon

    Fun to watch.

Also fun to see how you can use your technical skills to gain an advantage over a physically superior opponent.

Great game. Now if these two teams meet in the finals, will Kob and Bron guard each other for the whole series? That would make things so much easier for the Lakers. Gasol, Bynum and company would have a field day with the rest of the cavs players.

  • Nbk

The cava didn’t have 2 starters that game showed nothin

  • CSP8

Does everybody thats 6’9″ 250lbs have to get knocked off the court to get a foul call?

  • Jackie Moon

CSP8 – no, you just have to get fouled legitimately.

  • Derrick Dixon

Lebron is great but he is still no Kobe and the onky advantage the Cavs has is Mo Williams.
