‘Miracle on the Hudson’, Live from Vince Carter’s Apartment

    by Marcel Mutoni

Unless you’re one of those folks who happen to live in a cave with no access to the rest of the world, you’re well aware of the incredible plane-crash story (where everyone aboard the jet survived) out of New York City yesterday.

Vince Carter - who doesn’t live in a cave - saw the whole thing; in fact, dude had a better view of the action that most.

    From the Star-Ledger:

“I was just sitting there, looking out the window — dead even where the plane hit,” Carter said before tipoff Thursday night, still incredulous over the US Airways crash he saw hours earlier. That in itself was unexpected: The Nets star is usually napping at that time of day.

“No, I was up — I was just sitting in the bedroom, and…I thought I was watching TV. It landed like it was a movie. It hit like nose first, and you could (hear) the impact. Couldn’t believe it. Just couldn’t believe it.”

Vince, however, could not rescue the Nets later in the day, as New Jersey dropped a home game to visiting Portland, their second loss in a row.

And he knows a thing or two about flying.

Nets over portland after the miracle landing? Lightening doesn’t strike in the same place twice.

    • Tzvi T Posted: Jan.16 at 9:05 am
Vince looked a little lost our there last night, this could explain that.

    • Hursty Posted: Jan.16 at 9:06 am
Jeez, that was a crazy thing to happen. Thanks God nobody was hurt seriously, much less any fatalities.
Oh, and that’s an omen for Vince. Somehow.

He knows a thing or two about crash landing

    • Hursty Posted: Jan.16 at 9:07 am
      *thank.

    • riggs Posted: Jan.16 at 9:13 am
actually the tail hit first vince, since i saw it too, and man that pilot has skills….the plane skidded at a low velocity and just laid itself on the water.

“The Nets star is usually napping at that time of day.”
The plane crashed during the second quarter?

    • Hursty Posted: Jan.16 at 9:19 am
      Haha Ryan.

    • Mo Charlo Posted: Jan.16 at 9:32 am
      Hursty wins. Ryan close second.

*insert jokes about Vince’s fear of “flying” again, here*

    • Todd Spehr Posted: Jan.16 at 10:24 am
So he was just sitting at home looking out the window?

    • Ryan Jones Posted: Jan.16 at 10:26 am
      We’re all winners here, boys.

    • Squirrel7 Posted: Jan.16 at 10:31 am
Ryan, by far. It’s a tough life when you’re paid millions of dollars per season to catch Zzz’s in the middle of the afternoon!

    • Eboy Posted: Jan.16 at 10:42 am
Isn’t there a nosedive or a tailspin joke in here somewhere.

    • Hisham Posted: Jan.16 at 10:44 am
      An abundance of allegories

    • Coconut Posted: Jan.16 at 10:58 am
First I heard of this story. Does that make Europe a cave? :p

    • nbk Posted: Jan.16 at 11:38 am
nobody died, sad as it is, news is not as entertaining when everyone lives. But its great that nobody did

    • Darksaber Posted: Jan.16 at 11:53 am
those 155 people had the mother of all guardian angels on their side. A modern two engined passenger jet, utterly reliant on fly by wire systems suffers a dual engine malfunction (birdstrike?) on takeoff at low alt. Then glides back to ditch in water without breaking up? Jesus! May i request that pilot anytime i fly from now on?

    • Boing Dynasty Posted: Jan.16 at 12:16 pm
Ive heard that after the crash the plane is going to become more reliant on its jumpshot…

    • chiqo Posted: Jan.16 at 1:06 pm
      nice

    • rainman10 Posted: Jan.16 at 1:08 pm
From now on that plane will fly at low altitudes and never fly at high speeds again.

What is Vincanity doing owning an apartment? This guy has earned over 100 million in his career, and he’s in an apartment?

    • Doc Funk Posted: Jan.16 at 1:30 pm

so in his free time, he does nothing but look out the window. the NBA “where stars with no lives” happens

    • Moose Posted: Jan.16 at 5:51 pm
collin, be sure to leave out the guys who do have them when you say that. There are plenty of NBA guys who have real lives.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jan.16 at 6:08 pm
Marcel, I like how after every bit of news you have to mention how the subject’s (this case being Vince Carter) team got their @sses smoked.
      Like the Laurence Frank story.
      Haha.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jan.16 at 6:10 pm
@ Josh D: Uhh, its called the Metropolitan area. This isn’t the suburbs of Winnipeg.

    • Teddy-the-Bear Posted: Jan.16 at 6:12 pm
Anyways, what a miracle, huh? Thank God.

    • ab_40 Posted: Jan.16 at 7:32 pm
