Obama’s Inauguration: Kind of a Big Deal in the NBA

by Marcel Mutoni

Tomorrow will be a historic day. It’s a day that will mean so much to so many people. Including NBA players, coaches, and League personnel.

The Wiz are bummed out since despite being Washington-based, they won’t get to witness it in person; Boston is altering its travel plans so as not to miss the television coverage; and if he has to, Andre Miller is ready to skip practice.

The Sixers’ point guard says there are more important things on his agenda tomorrow that running team drills. From the Delco Times (via: CSTB):

They probably won’t practice Tuesday, but if they do, Andre Miller won’t be there.

“There’s a good chance (we’ll be off), but I’m not going to jump to conclusions,” he said. “But I’m going, so …”

Stay tuned, folks, as we have yet to hear from Allen Iverson about his plans.

Ask the 2 million people showing up if its a big deal. Any DC people planning to go? I checked out some of the festivities yesterday and got myself a crazy cold. Every method of transportation is struggling too.

The only way Tuesday could get better is if LeBron tell us what he thinks of this.

I’ve never been so excited about any president, and I’m Belgian… Must be crazy in the US of A right now. Most people I know are starting to like America again… Or have stopped hating it :p Good luck to Obama and the US!

If you are gonna refer to players missing practice to attend non-basketball related events, that last line should refer to Steve Francis, not Allen Iverson.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com/ RV

@What, Francis never missed practice, he missed a team flight, so AI it is..

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com Hursty

Some reporter on Leno said last weekend, that the ratio of porta-potties to homo sapiens is gonna be like 1:6000 at the inauguration. Oh gawd!

  • Yassi

Why is it that an inauguration has to cost 75 Million Euro? Or was it $ ?? I dont get it, I dont get it AT ALL! Thats (almost) disgusting…..anyhow very good that those 8 years are over.

  • http://www.kicksonfire.com Anton

It cost $50M US and there were 5,000 porta potties.

  • http://www.basketballnonsense.com Melvin

Im sure the Boston likes Barack so much. Yeah so much!

  • Yassi

@Anton: I dont think so, check this out:

but any how its a whole lot of money for simply a staged show and not much else. That is completely insane. What for ? There is a lot that could have been done with the money than to just blow it up in the air. Anyhow I wish Obama would have started to make CHANGES on day ONE!
