OKC Thunder Hard at Work on Mascot Development

Why, of course they are: “A mascot isn’t something you can find at a costume store,” Byrnes said. “You can not create a mascot in a very thoughtful way, in addition to everything else we had to do with the franchise overnight. We intentionally postponed the mascot in order to do it right. It takes a lot of planning to create the personality and identity of the organization 365 days out of the year, a character iconic to the marketplace that will attend schools, athletic events and ribbon cuttings. Once fans see the finished product, we hope they feel it was worth the wait.”

    why not just a hobo off the street who sleeps on center court at half time? Its not like any publicity stunt will make them win. And they can make him dance for beers/go on bumfights.com

    BETcats is close, but to really tie the team to OKC they need something that really represents the people there. Like a Meth addict.

    Yet another reason the Thunder should be a D-League team. Do the Lakers have a mascot? The Celtics? The Knicks? If I were commissioner for a day I’d ban all mascots immediately. Well, all except Rocky.

    Benny the Bull’s off-court antics are OK, I guess. That said, mascots are better suited to college. Also, if I were commissioner, the new Bulls mascot would be either Joakim Noah or Sammy The Bull. So there.

    I don’t either Greece or Marvel comics would let you use Thor… maybe if their W-L record was better…
    I’m thinking we take a little from table A and a little from table b…Perhaps we go with the the 3 toothed truck stop whore…BUT she is wearing a LIGHTING ROD HELMET! Classy, yet contemporary.
