Sky Was The Limit

Shaun Livingston was a PG unlike any other.

As a high schooler standing alone on the court, Shaun Livingston was poised to be special. Despite his thin-as-a-toothpick build, the kid was taller than any other point guards around and could do everything better than they could. Just when it seemed like he was really starting to feel comfortable in the NBA and as a member of the upstart Clips, Livingston suffered one of the most gruesome knee injuries in recent memory. After much time and rehab, the Illinois product inked a deal with the Heat with resurgence on his mind. Today, his comeback journey brings him to Memphis, where Livingston is joining a deep contingent of young and promising point guards. — Adam Fleischer

Since I was there: This was taken outside a community center in Peoria, the sport where pretty much all the great Peoria ballers had to roll through at some point. There was a flock of little kids there trying to talk tough to Shaun, how they’d break his ankles on the court. If only they knew how his NBA career would go…
Nice kid, though, and as nasty with the ball as pretty much anyone. Here’s hoping he can stay healthy.

I paid close attention to Ryan’s piece because Shaun was the top player in my state (and high school class). At the time, I didn’t like the guy–for no good reason–but I was really glad to learn more about him. Injury or not, I’m proud of Shaun…one of Illinois’ finest hoopers, ever.

@YungBolo – i heard the exact same thing. Shaun Livingston is currently not on any team. Sorry ya’ll.

He could do a lot of things but he could never shoot.
It’s amazing how difficult it is for some players to pick up that skill. Look at Telfair. If he could shoot, he’d be an All-Star easily.

honestly, if he can some how come back, he has allstar potential. have u seen this dude dribble the basketball??

  • Will Lee

no how is it? I actually haven’t seen any highlights of him except some blocks on Kobe.

  • rob stewart

Is he wearing the Iverson Reebok Answer VII’s in the above picture?

  • Mario

Injury prone point guard still has alot of upside

  • Joe

I believe he is headed to Phoenix, I’ll put my money on it (even though i’m broke as Rajon’s J)

rob: Might be. He was definitely Rbk’d out for the shoot, though I can’t remember the specific shoe…

WHY WOULD HE GO TO MEMPHIS? they already have too many point guards…

  • http://slamonline.com Tzvi T

niQ: They cut him. He is still rehabbing in Miami; though if you ask me that’s gotta be a tough place to focus on work, but that’s just my opinion.
