After three seasons marked by sporadic playing time and flashes of jaw-dropping athleticism as a youngster on veteran dominated Kings teams, Gerald Wallace became a member of the Bobcats during the 2004 expansion draft. While he hasn’t had the luxury of returning to the Playoffs like he became accustomed to in his first three years, the lengthy forward has established himself as one of the most versatile players in the game since landing in Charlotte. — Adam Fleischer

Tarzan, everyone knew Wallace was good even when he was in Sac-Town. This wasn’t like some Jermaine O’Neal ish. They didn’t want to play him. Whatever the reason was behind their reluctance to give him a chance was probably why they left him unprotected.

I wish G-Force te best of luck in his recovery. On a side note, while I respect Wallace immensly for taking it to the rack like a man EVREY time, his fearlessness is probably what’s causing him to get injured all the time. We bash Vince Carter for launching 20 foot fadaways, but in the long run, VC is being smarter. What’s better for your team, driving recklessy all the time and missing 30 games, or shooting jumpshots to preserve your body and be able to play the rest of the season?

^well keep i mind one of the times vince got injured was from a jump shot. bruce bowen “accidently” got under his foot while he was landing.

    Bowen for Vice President!

one of the most underrated players in the league right here, get better soon crash see you on the court

  • Mike

there’s always a good reason why players are underrated.

In fairness, the Kings just didn’t have the room to protect Wallace. They could protect eight guys: Webber, Miller, Bibby, Christie, Dviac, Peja, Bobby Jackson and one other guy who I forget. Looking back on it, Gerald would be the pick now, but he wouldn’t have helped our championship push that year (that once again, failed miserably).

I remember when he was on the Kings, he had one of the dunks of the year – in the pre-season. If only he could play 70-80 games a season….

  • Nate James

    haha the bobcats are nothing.

umm i think he will be traded to houston. in a 2 player trade. raymond felton, and crash, for T-mac, and luis schola.

    something like that.

This wasn’t the one with the purple pimp suit media day shots but one with an action shot in this article driving to the rim wearing Jordan 12 playoffs (black/white) as those had retroed (damn near exactly to the OG) around that time too (he prob. became a Jordan brand athlete about then – before MJ became part of the Bobcats org.) correct? Seems like forever ago considering the here and now of Jordan Brand products and their (non) quality. Stay up, get well soon Gerald.

Sam Joynt, last time I checked VC had one of the highest 3-point ratings in the NBA.
You are just sad because he’s better without your STUPID team and he’s no longer going back.
