Stephon Marbury and Josh Childress: Teammates?

by Marcel Mutoni

According to several reports, Josh Childress (abdominal tear and all) might have to move aside as another hoopster from the NBA joins his Greek team. Stephon Marbury is apparently going to be mulling over an offer from Olympiacos.

ESPN has the scoop:

Representatives of the Greek club Olympiacos contacted the New York Knicks earlier in the day in an effort to begin a dialogue on what it would take to get Marbury released from his contract.

Marbury is aware of Olympiacos’ interest but has had no contact with the club, according to a source close to the Knicks, who said he expected additional dialogue on the subject over the next few days.

The NY Post says the Greek club is offering $15 million for Stephon’s services. Marbury – with the help of a rep from the Players’ Union – will begin negotiations with the Greeks this week.

This would be beyond ideal for Donnie Walsh and company, as they would not only avoid losing Marbury to a division rival, but he wouldn’t even be on the same continent with them anymore. For their sake, here’s to hoping this is not just another hoax from those wily Euros.

yeah, go for it Marbury. Have fun in greece. Better there than in boston. Poor Papaloukas and Lynn Greer. Here comes the drama, wait till Marbury gets a load of Olympiakos’s disciplinarian head coach. Mike D he a’int. This should be required viewing on all stations.

About f*ckin time. If you re-read every Marbury post on slamonline, you will notice that I have been grandstanding a Marbury to Europe experience for almost two year. Why did it take the euro teams so long to do this?

@Darksaber….:seems you’re really into euroball..Giannakis(the disciplinarian coach) and Marbury can coexist together for around 2 minutes if things get serious…good thing is that with the way Olympiakos plays this year ,things will hardly get serious…the most frightening prospect for me is that this move can actually work out (STARBURY can be effective in Europe if his “J” is falling and Olympiakos has a huge hole at the PG position since Papaloukas, although a much better player than Marbury, has started showing signs of age and Greer ain’t a PG). If this cartoon actually comes in Greece then in the following month we can see him twice going against Brandon Jennings since Lotomatica is at the same group as Olympiakos….i promise to buy STARBURY’S shirt(yeah i said it….) if he manages to make us win the Euroleague…(of course for this to happen we would have to go through teams like Barcelona where Navaro can propably eat the cartoon alive at this moment, but that’s another story…)

hi antonis. I sure follow euroball. Lived and played in europe for 20 years, so its natural. Enjoy following the greek league right now (eurosport shows weekly games). And Marbury will mess up the already shaky chemistry of olymp. Toi bad for Halperin, i love how the guy plays.

  • ColdVicious

Man i remember when starbury was tearin it up with the suns… if this deal goes down ima have to follow his progress… and his matchups wit brandon jennings would be sick

Halperin is a guy that is playing at almost 100% of his potential and i always respect that. He can really shoot also. Propably our best summer aquisition and that is a sad thing having in mind the money we spend overall…

I second Young Chris. And he doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere over here.

Darksaber: Do you think Manu Ginobli is better than Lebron james?

  • j-smoov 5

Good luck Starbury! Dude needs a new fresh start. He’ll do fine.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

oh come now Juks. No need to provoke me. As for your question? I am in awe of lbj’s physique and how he utilizes it. Manu? Better fundamentals, tough as nails and as cluth as there is a player in.the.world. I just became a manu fan a few years back after seeing him in internqtional play, dude is plain unstoppable there. Happy?
