T-Mac Says He’s Back; Does Anyone Believe Him?

by Marcel Mutoni

Tracy McGrady topped the 20-point mark in consecutive outings last night for the first time since early November. His 24 points came during a loss to the visiting Sixers – Mac’s potential game winning three was blocked at the buzzer – and Tracy attempted to give everyone hope about the future prior to the game.

From the Houston Chronicle:

Tracy McGrady touched elongated index fingers with Dikembe Mutombo, bumped fists with the staff at the scorer’s table and announced, “I’m back.” Well, that’s nice.

Welcome to the Rockets’ 2008-09 season … again. Let’s see if he can stick around awhile this time. Finally, the Rockets’ lineup looked like the one they expected to employ this season, as for just the third time no key parts were missing.

Naturally, of course, T-Mac tweaked his left knee late in the third quarter (during which he’d been performing like the Mac of old.) The good news is that he wasn’t forced to leave the game, and managed to play through the pain.

The Houston Rockets are headed into the second half of the season with a full and relatively healthy roster. Which, all things considered, sounds like the perfect time for something to go disastrously wrong.
