The Post Up: Spurs Are Solid

While Denver rolls.

by Holly MacKenzie

Happy day, everyone.

I feel like I’m inaugurated out. Today has been exhausting. The combination of my friend flying in Monday night, getting to bed around 6 a.m., waking up before 9 a.m. and then going nonstop until now, when I write this at 2 a.m. again, whooooop.

Last night was a pretty low-key night in the League and I didn’t catch much of these games. I’m sure you can all agree with me that yesterday really wasn’t about basketball.

Things will be getting back to normal tonight though, huge schedule ahead of us with Phoenix @ New York, Utah @ Houston and Cleveland @ Portland, just to name a few. I’m looking forward to seeing Steve Nash and Mike D’Antoni and of course, as I mentioned the last time the teams met each other, Dan D’Antoni and Leandro Barbosa.

Those two might have my favorite player/coach relationship in the League. Who would each of you pick?

I’m kind of still trying to wrap my head around the fact that not only are the Cavs really, really good and are still undefeated at home, but that the Orlando Magic currently have the best record in the League.

I love the unexpected parts of each season. I love that the Spurs are beginning to round into form and nip at everyone’s heels. I love that I love to hate and hate to love Manu Ginobili and everything he brings to the table. I love the Iverson cover and really, I just want to read my damn piece on Powe because I still have been unable to find a copy of the mag in this city, honestly. My mother has a copy in Nova Scotia and I still can’t find it here in Toronto.

Also, the Ariza/LeBron comments you guys left yesterday cracked me up. Even I, Laker Girl #32, cannot pretend that Riza’s got anything on Bron.

Tonight the Raptors face the Pistons and I’m excited to see a couple of things; first, how the Rip-coming-off-the-bench thing works out, and, second, how AP does at point guard if Jose is still unavailable. Also, can the Raptors please get a trade going? K, thanks, BC, appreciate it.

Thickest headband in the L.Okay… Here we go:

Atlanta 105 Chicago 102

The Atlanta Hawks earned their second victory in as many days and this one was as close as the first. One day after taking down the Raptors 87-84, the Hawks escaped with a 105-102 decision over the Bulls thanks in large part, to Mike Bibby and his 31 points. While the game was close throughout, Derrick Rose put the Bulls ahead by one, continuing to show he’s got grit and shines under pressure. Bibby showed that he too, can thrive when the game is on the line as he started a 7-0 run for the Hawks then continued to score nine of his 31 in the final minutes of the game, including a three and a steal as the Hawks closed out the Bulls. Besides Bibby, Zaza Pachulia had 18 points while Josh Smith had 17 points and 14 rebounds. The Bulls were led by Ben Gordon who scored 21 points as Luol Deng had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

San Antonio 99 Indiana 81

While the Pacers have been doing a good job of keeping games close (not so good of a job at coming away with W’s), last night was an exception as the Spurs did what they do best and rolled to a victory in a game that was supposed to be close. Thanks to a decisive third quarter that saw the Spurs outscore Indiana 28-17, the game was over before the fourth quarter. The Spurs held Danny Granger to 17 points on 5-15 shooting while Mike Dunleavy added 15 for the Pacers. Tim Duncan had 27 points and 10 rebounds through three quarters to lead the Spurs while Manu Ginobili was a star sub with 26 points. Tony Parker added 13 points in the victory.

Utah 112 Minnesota 107

While the Timberwolves have been on an impressive streak as of late, going 8-2 over their last ten before the game last night, they were unable to slow the Jazz as Paul Millsap had a 28-point, 15-rebound performance and Mehmet Okur pulled out some big three’s to close out the game and get the W for Utah. When the TWolves got to within one in the final minutes of the game, Deron Williams set up Okur on consecutive possessions for three-pointers and he responded. Okur finished with 22 points for Utah while Williams had 17 points and 11 assists. The Wolves were led by Al Jefferson with 25 points and 8 rebounds as Ryan Gomes and Randy Foye scored 19 points apiece.

Denver 118 Sacramento 99

While the Nuggets started out slow in this one, a strong second quarter allowed them to easily roll over the Kings on their way to a laugher, defeating Sacramento, 118-99. With consecutive quarters topping 30 points, the Nuggets led by as many as 30 in the fourth as the Kings couldn’t keep up, even without Carmelo Anthony in the lineup. The Nuggets shot 56% for the game as Linas Kleiza scored 27 points off of the bench and JR Smith added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and Chauncey Billups added 22 points and 8 assists. Nene had another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. The Kings received 25 points from Kevin Martin as Jason Thompson scored 18 points to go with 11 boards and Bobby Jackson added 15 off of the bench.

Holly, I’d say the Spurs are more than solid–they’re one of the top-5 teams in the L.

  • Ken

I can’t believe TD is still this solid after a decade in the league. I forgot who did the breakdown last week, but when I saw the numbers comparison between his MVP seasons’ stats and this years, it really isn’t far off.

I expect Rip to be fine, Holly. I also expect a Pistons win as well. What’s up with the Shawn Marion for Jermaine O’Neal trade rumors?

  • Squirrel7

I might be being really stupid, but I’m assuming one AP is Anthony Parker, but who is the other one? My mind has gone blank…..

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

    Nothing at the moment, TAD.

  • http://lastknickstanding.blogspot.com Bryan

I’m glad they finally made a choice and benched someone. Mike Bibby turning back the clock is nice, the hawks need it, as well as Josh rebounding the way he is. Midseason basketball FANTASTIC. Btw, my favorite player coach relationship is Stephon Marbury and Isiah Thomas.

  • SWIFTboy

I THINK it should read ‘How AP does at point guard if JC is still unavailable.’

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

Is that something that is a real possibility, E?

  • Andy

If the rest of the season pans out the way it’s currently going, then the Spurs are going to the Finals. They’ll beat the Lakers in 6. That’s a big ‘if’, of course, but you can definitely rely on the Spurs, barring injury.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Yeah…..they’ve been talking about it for a while….Riley wants to make the move…..from what I’ve heard, Spoelstra’s not big on bringing JO in (doesn’t want to deal with a veteran who may not be keen on listening to a rookie coach)….plus his health is questionable. I think it could help if JO can play anywhere close to his old self, but that’s a big if. Marion would help Toronto I guess….although it won’t help them get past any of the top teams in the East. I like the trade proposal of Marion to Dallas for Josh Howatd instead.

  • Tom

I would think the Josh Howard/Marion deal would stunt Beasleys growth, wouldn’t it? I mean isn’t Beaseley is too small to play the 4? And my fav. coach/player relationship is Danny Ainge/Robert Horry, lol

Tom, not really….Shawn’s playing the 3 now….and Beasley is playing well right now…so a more well rounded offensive player in that spot would be beneficial for them.

I think the JO-Matrix trade would really only benefit Miami. The only question is whether Oneal is healthy enough to commit to. I guess its good for the Raps becasue they get to develop Bargs and add some versatility/athelticism. Although, personally I don’t think Marion is a huge upgrade over Moon. This trade could actually make the Heat a potentially scary 1st round opponent…

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

Sorry to breakup this lovefest, but Cavs @ Blazers is looking like a really good game tonight.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

IF O’Neal is healthy. He is also owed $20 mil next season. If I was Miami, I would be asking for a draft pick or two as well.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

I’m looking forward to the Heat/Celts. I will be in snowy Miami tonight.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Good point TAD, as Marion’s deal comes off the books this summer. The Heat will probably need to draft a legit 5 next season anyway, but another pick could give them some room to manuever. I keep saying this but signing Boozer would be the dumbest thing Miami could do IMO. They’d be in the exact situation they are now, unable to defend the paint. Plus, they need to hand the keys to Beasley before long.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

E: Is it really snowing in Miami?!

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

ciolkstar, no it’s not snowing, but it’s 45 degrees, which is like an artic freeze to the people here. Also, thoughts of Boozer coming here have slowed alot….I don’t think he’s still on their radar as much as he was…..especially with Beasley in the mix. I think their hope is to pair Beasley and Bosh in the frontcourt in 2010.

  • http://mundoalbiceleste.blogspot.com john

Another electrifying performance from MANu of the match, Ginobili. As long as he keeps this up, there is no denying that the Spurs will be the force of the Western Conference. Spurs badly needed him during the start of the season, but he was injured.

Now he’s back! Back to re-claim the throne that made him the best reserve player from the bench.

The Pacers had no answer to what he brings to the court. He scored, he passes and he defense. He’s an all rounder.

Do you think with performance like this, he can capture the Sixth Man crown once again?

    http://mundoalbiceleste.blogspot.com/2009/01/nba-news-old-manu-re-emerges-against.html

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

Gei in line with Bosh, E. It does appear that he will be bolting from Toronto more and more everyday, though.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

A Wade-Bosh tandem with Beasley at the 3 could do serious damage. Miami will certainly be an attractive destaination for someone… Hey E, what do you think about Daequon Cook? That guy has been lighting it up from 3 (and for my fantasy squad). He’s got good size and could be a perfect guy to have as a gunner off the bench for the coming years. If the Heat could add a solid veteran Center and Point they’d be deadly.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Yeah, judging from Bosh’s recent comments/attitude I’d say he doesn’t want to be in the T Dot much longer. Can’t say I blame him completely with how this season’s going.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

TAD, your boys aren’t even in the mix….Bosh wants OUT of the cold, dum dum.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

And I just have to say I’m thrilled about how the Spurs are playing right now. Manu is getting back to his efficient and, at atimes, dominant self. And we FINALLY have some youth coming off the bench. Roger Mason has begun to take most of Finlaey’s minutes (Yes!) while George Hill is coming along and playing disruptive D when he gets tick. And Timmy, well he’s just been Timmy. I’m gushing, but I honestly feel like this Spurs team has some of the ‘magic’ that last season’s team was lacking…

  • http://www.another48minutes.blogspot.com Gerard Himself

My question is: can Beasley play the 3, ciolk? Can he defend guys like Gay, Melo, LeBron or Granger? Or even Wilson Wilson Chandler Bing?

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

You could grab someone from the Bulls in the dispersal draft.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Yeah, E. Bosh being from Texas and all. I actually think the Mavs might try something drastic to get a shot at him. Although I think Bosh really wants to win (and he’ll basically have his pick of places to play) and Miami is building a strong core. Not to mention Florida with its great beaches, low tax rates and Miami nightlife…

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

ciolk, Daequan is limited…..in a good way. His shooting is tremendous. He and Wade have great chemistry, like Jordan/Paxson-lite. He plays pretty solid D for his size and shoot’s the lights out…..problem is….he doesn’t really create off the dribble and he can’t hadle spot minutes at point. If he just buys into the Vinnie Johnson like mentality of scoring off the bench in bunches….he’ll be a huge commodity for them in the next couple of years. He’s not taking anyone’s starting spot….so he’s got no choice really.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Thats a good question Gerard. I think the main issue with Beasley right now is confidence. Shocking, I know for a guy who looked cool asa cucumber in ciollege. But since the benching he’s looked hesiatant at times and is probably “thinking too much”. If he works hard in the offseason to get a little stronger and just continues to get comfortable with the pro game and his role in Miami, he’ll be an absolute beast. Miami will still need to find a shot blocking C to make that team complete.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

I agree competely about Daequon, E. He can be a great role player and beacuse his game isn’t more rounded he won’t demand as much attention in free agency or be pressing to start. But he’s already a serious deep threat, and the chemistry with wade you spoke of is a big plus. I could even see the Heat using Wade and ‘Quon togeher in the backcourt late in games, since Wade handles the ball so much anyway.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Gerard/ciolk, Beasley’s confidence was shotty early in the season…he’s progressed a ton, instead of regressing….which would ahve seemed to be the way it could have gone. His moments of being “ready” are already there….he made a huge play late in the Golden State to get an overtime win….he played huge against the Lakers in LA (even though they fell short) and he stole another game for them with a missed free throw rebound and subseguent free throw make to pull out a close win at home. His talent is unquestioned…I want to say his swagger is there too….it’s just learnign the pro “big man’s” game and not getting caught up in playing one on one against every opponet he goes against. He’s not there yet….but unlike the other stars of this draft class….he’ll have more time (and games) to hone his craft….because his team will have a playoff spot while Mr’s Rose and Mayo will be at the crib watching. By this time next season….there will be no question as to why he was the 2nd pick…it may be, why wasn’t he the first.

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

I still take D. Rose 10 times out of 10 and don’t look back.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

You might be right Russ. But the Bulls are still really bad. I’m not even sure if Rose is really a PG, but that might just be Del Negro asking him to bea scorer. They need shooters SO bad. Not scorers, but shooters. And a Center. I guess none of that is really Rose’s fault though, but I hoped that his play would translate to wins. Or atleast watchable basketball…
The one thing about Rose thats undeniable is that first step. Holy sh!t, when he gets going to the hoop he’s just incredible.

  • http://myspace.com/arodakaroman and1ballermj2350

Spurs been solid! ESPN did a online poll and asked who do you think will win the ‘chip this year and of course they left the Spurs out of the options to pick…..3 ‘chips in a few years and no respect!

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Anyone that counts out the Spurs is a moron.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

^ Classic ESPN pandering to big markets and star players. Personally, and I know Popp agrees with me here, its almsot an advantage. Not getting “respect” from the media helps to establish a “us against th world attitude” and keeps that collective chip on our shoulder.

  • Squirrel7

I haven’t seen much of the Bulls this year, so if Rose is running the point, is Kirk actually getting any minutes?! (I’m too lazy to go look it up).

  • http://slamonline.com Russ Bengtson

Oh, and my favorite coach/player relationship—by far—is Mike D’Antoni and Stephon Marbury.

  • Squirrel7

My favourite would be Phil Jackson and any of the Lakers he hasn’t thrown under the bus at some point this season. So that would be……Kobe, and….no, just Kobe.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

E, please send me a quote where Bosh said he wanted out of the cold. I’m quite sure that is speculation on your part and bad speculation at that. The last I looked, the NBA only lasts for 4-5 months out of the year and most players don’t stay where they play in the offseason anyway. I’m quite sure Bosh will base his decision on whomever pays him the most money and gives him the best oppurtunity. Miami with Wade would be a good choice, but the Heat need to worry about Dwyane leaving as well.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

^Trying to cope with the fact that the city he roots for is about as appealing as a team going to Newark.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

^Trying to be original with a reused joke about Detroit being a sh*t hole. You do realize the Pistons actually play in the suburbs, right?

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

Sorry TAD. But E is probably right on this one. Personally, I dont see anyone lining up to play in Detrot. Or San Antonio for that matter.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Yeah….I know…Auburn Hills is nice. But I got the reaction I expected. I win!

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

JHO for Matrix? Hmm if it reignites the defending/rebounding side of Marion, hell yeah. With the surge in JET’s offense, thats one less pair of hands for the Kidd/Barea to worry about. And Josh is superb at creating his shot. Now that Desagana’s out (again), Mavs could use the versatilizy on D. And rebounding Marion provides. Josh needs a change of scenery and flash a reliable 2nd option. Good trade if it happens

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

    versatilizy? Damn iphone touchscreen

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

That’s what I think too, Dark.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

But it leaves the Heat in the same position they are now. Does Beasley play 3 or 4? Who’s the PG? Who’s the Center? And you know Josh and BEasy are gonna be on some “How High” Sh!t. Not that that’s neccesarily a bad thing…
I don’t see that one happening as long as Riley has anything to say about it.

  • http://ittakesanationofmillionstoholdthissac.blogspot.com ciolkstar

^All that said, Josh IS the better player IMO. So it kinda makes sense…

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

Miami fans, maybe focus on trying to keep Wade, before you worry about adding Bosh.

  • http://www.lkz.ch Darksaber

time for zo to step out of the phone booth like C. Kent. Don’t the heat have magloire on the roster? Once upon a time he was an allstar and more than adequate at the 5. Whatever happened to his skills? A case of contratitis fatus?

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

For the record, Jamaal Magloire has played in an ALLSTAR game, but has never in any way, shape or form been an ALLSTAR.

  • http://hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

Dark: I am a young gun, a Seasme Street Gangster, but even i remeber Jamal Magloire. HE GOT INJURED AND LOST THEM. However, he did have a nice dunk when he was on the Bucks like 1 season ago. He covered his eyes and dunked in a game.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Uhm…..let me address the last flurry (that’s for BET’s snowday)of comments.

Boing……they need to worry about who’s going to surround Wade in order to keep him in MIA, it’s all relevant.

Dark, Zo’s status is still up in the air….although he is wanting desperatley to retunr. I don’t know if he’d be the same player he was before his injury…..but his presence would be welcomed.

Regarding Jamal…..he started out as a rock while he was on the court (like literally a rock, didn’t move couldn’t do anything, etc)but over the last couple of weeks he has actually been slightly productive and provides them with some form of interior rebounding when he’s in. His offensive touch is about as effective as TADOne’s but he’s really putting in effort, which was unexpected.

  • Myung

I was just checking where the Hawks were ranked in the East and made this observation: if you look at the Western conference standings as of today (with nearly every team having played half their games for the season now), there are 9 teams that are fighting for 8 spots, while there are 6 teams that are essentially fighting for lottery position (in a pretty weak draft class). In the West, you’re either really good or really bad. While I still think the best of the West is better than the best of the East, the standings also show that EVERY team in the East not named the Wizards has a better record than the bottom 6 teams in the West.

    From the Department of Redundancy:
    -
Curry gave several reasons for the change, and for taking so long to make the decision.

“We’ve been talking about this,” said Curry, whose team won eight of 10 games with a bigger lineup when Hamilton was out because of a groin injury. They lost five straight when he came back.

“We were 5-3 with the small lineup before Rip got hurt and I thought it was fair to give him an opportunity to see how it went when he came back. But we just weren’t good enough, especially starting off games.”

On defense, we never set the tone and we were playing catch-up from a defense and rebounding standpoint.”

Right now I just wish the knicks would trade for a swingman. A really offensively gifted swingman.

  • http://www.ravingblacklunatic.blogspot.com Allenp

A few years back, there was this Alabama point guard named Ronald Steele that was just destroying teams as a freshman or sophomore. He flirted with the NBA but people in the NCAA told him that he needed more seasoning and he owed it to his school to stick around and try to push them further in the tournament. Steele then had a serious of serious knee injuries, lost his explosiveness and recently had to end his college career because of a heel injury. It’s unlikely he’ll ever play in the NBA.
And Myles Brand and his cohorts want to shorten the time players have to decide whether they will enter the draft. That figures…

  • Myung

Allen, how could people in the NCAA tell Steele that he needed more seasoning?

  • http://www.ravingblacklunatic.blogspot.com Allenp

They couldn’t force him to stay, but they made comments about his game, and said he needed to stick around longer. I think he would have been a lottery pick anyway, but he listened to folks, and maybe he really cared about going back to the tournament. Now his knees are shot and he will be lucky to play in Europe.

I understand your point about the NCAA and Brand and all… but in Steele’s case, as unfortunate as it is, I’m not sure it’s the NCAA’s fault that he might not earn a paycheck from the L.

What I blame the NCAA for is the culture that demeans or denigrates athletes who decide to leave school early, or even just explore the option of leaving early. I don’t like announcers that harp on how wrong this is, I don’t like coaches that b*tch and moan about this problem.
I don’t like the fact that all of these adults are perfectly comfortable playing with the futures of young people just to continue putting money in their pockets.
The NCAA’s decision to consider shortening the time players have to decide whether they want to stay in the draft is another example of them shafting young people. They aren’t shortening the time schools have to decide whether they want to renew atheletic scholarships, they aren’t shortening the time that coaches have to decided whether they want to change schools. Everybody involved with collegiate sports gets to blatantly look out for their best interests except for athletes. It’s hypocrisy and it bothers me.
Ronald Steele should have left school as soon as it was clear he was a lottery pick. Any adult truly looking out for his future would have told him that. The fact that so many people urged him to stay in school is a travesty in my opinion.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

On a positive note, Ronald Steele did earn a degree in Financial Planning. Hopefully he can put it to good use. But co-sign Allen.

  • Myung

I agree with everything you said above, Allen (as is usually the case). But in your first post about Steele, it seemed you like you blamed Steele’s case on the NCAA. In that instance, I don’t think it was the NCAA’s fault. I doubt Steele was good enough to go pro after high school, and it was his choice to go back to school after both is freshman and sophomore year (let’s remember the glut of talented PG’s that have been in the past 2 drafts: Augustin, Rose, Conley, Law, Stuckey, Bayless, Gordon, Javaris). I feel for the guy, and I also dislike a lot of things about the NCAA (like I said, I agree with what you wrote above)… but Steele’s case is hardly a unique one.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Myung, I’d be willing to argue that the three best teams in the East (when they’re injury-free) might very well be the three best teams in the NBA. The balance is shifting. I remember fools where talking about re-alignment a couple of seasons ago. These things ALWAYS even out.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JulsMW0rQTk nbk

Z you cannot call Orlando better then LAL or the Spurs that is just crazy talk my friend. Granted they are real good in the regular season but in a playoff series you cannot be serious

  • Myung

Z, I’d agree with you on that, but I’d argue that the 9 best teams in the West are better than the 9 best teams in the East. Hey, I’m not trying to bash the East. I’ve lived in Atlanta my whole life (other than the year I lived in Korea before we moved here) so I’m always pulling for the East. I DO agree that the balance is shifting, but I’d still say the West is better, in spite of the fact that there are 6 pretty bad teams in the West. The only reason I posted what I did was because I hadn’t checked the standings in a while and had no idea that those 6 teams in the West pretty much knocked themselves out of the playoff contention before the All Star break. I guess it shouldn’t come as a surprise (well, except for the Clips), but I guess the numbers really caught me by surprise today.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

Z cant? I can. The Magic are better then the Spurs.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

This year? They DID sweep them both. The Spurs and the Lakers are playoff-tested, I concur. But this is a different Orlando team. Jameer has found his niche and they have an identity. Conventional wisdom says that living by the 3 don’t cut it in the playoffs but I’m pretty sure neither Boston or Cleveland want any of it in the 2nd round. They’re for real.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JulsMW0rQTk nbk

Your are willing to say that the Magic have a better shot at winning the NBA Championship then the Spurs? Thats what your saying….

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

im saying they equaly have 0% chance on winning the finals, and that the magic are better then the Spurs.

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

Oh and the Clips are cursed. They just are. They are RIDICULOUSLY bad for all the talent that they have.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JulsMW0rQTk nbk

Ok then, thats rediculous but ok

  • http://www.manutd.com Z

nbk, the Spurs are FAR from being a lock to winning the ‘chip. So I’d say their odds are just as good as the Magic’s.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

    Okay 1%

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

I do recall a lot of angry Rockets Fans this summer when I said that the Magic WOULD DO BETTER than them. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Also i found it funny i was called ‘insane’ after saying the Bobcats would have a better record than the Wizards. I am such a genius.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com Eboy

Uhm…..I’d be willing to say the Magic are better than the Lakers, head to head. Now the Lakers may win more regular season games….and maybe get through a couple of rounds of the playoffs without as much of a hiccup then the Magic may face, but if they get to the conference Finals and then get to the Finals…..and if somehow the Magic get there (which is a small chance)the Magic will be right there with them….they just matchup well with the Lakers (as their two reg season wins have shown)and pose a bunch of problems that the Lakers aren’t great at defending on the offensive end.

  • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBQEmmgDl9I Boing Dynasty

    Rockets fans are always angry.

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

i cant agree with that Boing, seeing that i co-blog with one that is quite jovial.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

Hmmmmmmm…..Magic better than the Spurs? Granted, right now they have the better record and have been playing damn good basketball, but lets slow the roll for a minute. I can see the Magic doing some damage in the playoffs, but they still have a lot of question marks. They don’t have a dominate 2-guard, they rely WAY too much on the 3 ball, and their defense outside of Dwight is suspect. The Spurs, when healthy, still have Duncan, Manu, and Parker. Right there you still have 3 players arguably in the top-20 players in the league.

  • http://www.shawn-kemps-offspring.blogspot.com/ TADOne

I’m not even touching the Magic better than the Lakers talk. That is crazy talk, no?

  • http://www.hibachi20.blogspot.com BETCATS

Boing said 0% thats why i said rediculous but regardless the magic have never ever been to the CF(since dwight) the spurs have NOT been there what twice in the last decade? They have won a title every odd year since 03, and frankly all this they are old talk is getting old and is never right….they pace themselves, if you think a team giving 100% in the regular season that has done nothing in the post season is better then a team with 4 championships in 11 years your confused

My boy, Ife Eke(yes, he is from nigeria) went off on Ross, who is considered to be the next big thing. Ross is just long as hell and he is weaker than a toothpick. My boy Ife had 17 and 10 last night along with 3 blocks and dude is our center at 6’6. Ross is 6’9 maybe 6’10. Rivals needs to check the rankings and put my boy Eke wrong. Our team is alright but there is to much beef with the seniors and juniors.
